T34/85’s weren’t even around during 1941. But I will say the T34/76 was superior to any German tank used during Barbarossa.

    • RE: First turn Russia, an IC in Yakut.

I agree with Grensleeves, Russia can only send so many troops to Asia where it won’t sacrifice its defenses against Germany. So inevitably, Yakut will fall to Japanese material superiority and Japan will have a free IC.

Take it easy you two. It’s too early to be fighting.

“Many Southerners!? Try all of them! You cannot walk in a Southern bar today, even mention Sherman’s name, and expect not to be thrown out.”

I should try that sometime in the future. Hell, atleast it would be cooler than being thrown out for not meeting the legal drinking age.

    • RE: Test

The droppings of the atomic bombs are justified. It was a military means of ending the war and it was not a deliberate act to kill civillians and destroy cities. In effect, the droppings saved lives.

I’m not fully read up on Sherman and his “march to the sea” to contemplate whether his actions warranted a war crimes trial.

It’s total war. You do what you got to do to win the war at all costs. And if it means burning down a town or even spilling some civilian blood…well I guess that’s just the toils of war.

    • RE: Take Hawaii

But then again, an unchecked IC in India could pose a threat to the Japanese flank and advancement to Moscow.

    • RE: Take Hawaii

Sounds good. Bring one BB if you are planning on taking Hawaii. Bring two BB’s when you don’t take Hawaii to have solid forces to defeat a US counter-attack.

To me, I just don’t like taking Hawaii. First, you lose one transport of infantry to the Asia continent. Second, the one IPC doesn’t realy benefit Japan nor does it affect the US war effort. If you are afraid of a counterattack, bring in the second BB (especially if there is 2 hit BB).

Also, the Japan player has to be smart. If Great Britain bought an AC for its first turn purchase, the US will probably end up landing its fighters onto it. So, that tells you that there will most likely be no Pearl Harbour counter.

Stick with the original A&A game. As for the other two, it is personal preference.

I think the number of blacks in the NHL is on the rise and some of them are already dominating. Take for instance Jarome Iginla, he won the scoring title this year.

    • RE: The atlantic

I think there is no way for Germany to prevent, not even hinder, the US from building large amounts of transports. I think Germany should concentrate its air units against the Royal Navy before the US can reinforce them with more ships. I figure the US can’t take Africa and invade Eastern Europe without help from Great Britain. So if you can keep British ships out of the water for a couple of turns, the Axis will be on its way toward victory.

    • RE: RR: Does it help the Axis?

To me, it seems as if Germany starts off the game overextended without even conducting any attacks (lots of armour but few infantry). There isn’t enough infantry to absorb the hits and to hold the territory from a counterattack. If it’s not in the bank, I never attack Russia on turn one. Conservative, but will have favorable repercussions for Germany.

    • RE: Fav WW2 battle of study

As for Patton ending the war by 1944, that is a bunch of hype. The supply lines were so far stretched after the race across France, they needed time to pause and wait for supplies, mainly fuel, to catch up.

I like the battle of Berlin mainly cause of the German valor displayed even to the bitter end. Even German naval units were still bombarding Soviet lines to the very end. That’s amazing.

My three favorite battles to study are Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Battle of Berlin.
