      Ok, so you have 6 ground units plus planes going up against atleast 10, more like closer to 15, plus an aa gun, and maybe some of UKs planes.  Rock on, that is a good trade for the allies to make.

      Let me put a little disclaimer on my ‘advice’:

      If, at any time, your UK planes can die by landing in a territory and not take down atleast 2 japan planes for each one you loose, or a japan transport, DO NOT LAND THEM there.  Also, if you can hold India with the planes, but not without the planes, LAND THEM IN INDIA.  I assume a certain level of common sense to be applied.

      For Japan:
      SZ 6(obvious)
      SZ 35(central location of Japanese Empire; can reach Queensland, Burma, Japan, and Carolines.
      SZ 33(Easternmost base; threatens Hawaii and Sydney and protects japan
      SZ 37( Can reach India and most of Australia from here)

      Allies:
      SZ 54(This is the NB where both ANZAC and the US threaten the DEI and the Phil from)
      SZ 26(US, on the way to Z54, threatens SZ 6 and SZ 33)
      SZ 63(Can still reach java, is further out of reach of Japan, and can be protected with scramble)

      I’ve taken it J1 because i was waiting for a turn 2 attack, unlike most, i play to have fun and do random openers not this perfectly sculpted J1 attack you see every forum game started with. Back on topic….New Hebrides never amounted to anything, just one less space for allies to land.

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      Does anyone know of a battle calculator that takes the rules of P40 into account?(carriers attacking at 0 and taking 2 hits, possibility for BB’s and CV’s to be damaged before battle, Mech inf, tactical bmrs.)

      Triplea is an amazing free program that allows you to play axis and allies realtime against players all over the world, play by email, play by yourself, or play against the weak computer ai.

      triplea has classic(World War II Classic), revised (World War II Revised), anniversary(World War II V3), and aa42(World War II V4). the names in brackets are the names triplea uses for legal reasons.

      pac40 (World War II Pacific, note Pacific Alpha is the original pacific game released in 2001) map and units are completed but the game is not finished yet as the naval and air bases do not work. because the bases do not effect the units the battle calculator works perfectly.

      to use the battle calc
      download triplea
      download pac40 map
      open a game of pac40
      click on game tab at top of triplea tool bar
      scroll down to battle calculator
      enter your attacking and defending units

      you can download it here http://triplea.sourceforge.net/mywiki/TripleA

      @WILD:

      @idk_iam_swiss:

      They are totally owned by the british.

      In the global game the Anz will still get their own turn though, right after UK. It will be a self sufficient minor power. I know the Anz were considered part of the English commonwealth, but I could see the UK or US player having control in the game. The US will probably run the show in the Pacific being that they will be the major ally there.

      I am still pissed off about Canada  :-P

      At least they don’t ever get gaptured, unlike India.

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      The rationelle is that the defenders of Mongolia don’t defend the country, but their own territory only

      Mongolia was a full contry, not a bunch of isolated hordes. Still, any army will attack a declared enemy if has the chance and it gives advantage, no wonder if they enemy is beyond your frontiers

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      In how many games can China attack a territory it can’t right now?

      See the map attached. I had more games where Japan taken advantage of this rule, even in AAP40

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      Since it is a VOLUNTEER unit, it is controlled by China; otherwise the US would be at war with Japan

      The FTs can be China controled but they are still USA’s citizens. You can bet your pants that the real FTs would bomb lone trannies and escape to home if needed in the real war, Chinese civil war or not

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      No, they destroy IC’s since they can never use them

      Well, they should use ICs, even if purchases are limited to inf and art. The current dinamic leads to some wacky situations. Anyway, there is not real world reason why China can destroy ICs and, say, soviets cannot do the same as a scorched land strat. Or all, or nobody

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      Greece and Spain were industrialized nations

      More reasons to ban the ACME wall from neutral powers  :wink:

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      In history, did any Chinese forces attack the Japanese anywhere outside China besides Burma?

      In history, wich army in any epoch would not attack a enemy power for the only reason that the enemy units are outside their frontiers? In real war, China attacked Burma because they had a reason and because they had the chance, and you can guess that they would do the same if Korea or FIC were in the same situation. Why limit chinese options then (that should not be done any case) and at the same time refuse to do a non-agression treaty jap-USSR? The chinese civil war is already represented by the fact that the chinese army is smaller than the real combined armies of KMT, CCP and warlords (China should have more units in game, but is OK that they have a smaller army because half of them are fighting the civil war. I don’t have complaints about the chinese army size in AAP40, maybe about the size of the japanese army, but that’s another matter)

      triplea is an open source gaming engine.

      it has aa42, aswell as classic, revised, and anniversary.

      it is free to play by yourself, against a weak ai, or against other gamers from around the world realtime or play by email.

      Sure, I hear what you’re saying, but it really didn’t take me long to get the fleet back to a position.  And I don’t recall the ANZAC transport being an easy kill in J2 - my opponent doesn’t throw it away so easily.

      And what else is there for the Japanese navy to do?  It’s not like the USA navy is going to move in right away because of this move.  There’s till plenty of navy at the Phillipines.

      I have no need to persuade you.  I think it’s a good move, and will likely do it again in the future.  Yes, it invites ANZAC to attack you with fighters (depending on how much J brings down) and perhaps invites the USA to venture farther west, but that’s fine with me.  It’s like a trap.
