      @SAS:

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      @oztea:

      Italy might have to take Vichy if Germany doesnt take Brittany. Otherwise France might successfuly counterattack Paris.

      Dont forget the official rule from Larry……“The first time Paris is liberated, place 4 French Infantry in that terriory”

      Concievably…if Brittany and Vichy have enough French units to launch a valid attack on Paris, then the Axis has to elimnate them G1 and I1 respectively.

      The risk for France is worth the reward…Even in a suicidal attack

      Vichy will probably have 1 inf, while Italy has 8 inf, 5 tanks,  3 fighters, and 5 transports with which it captures Vichy, Egypt, Gibraltar, and Malta on the 1st turn. Germany will have 13 infantry, 10 tanks, 3 bombers, and 10 fighters in addition to 4 transports, 2 BB’s, 1 CV, and 20 SS.

      Where did you get these figures?  5 transports for Italy?  20 subs for Germany?  Taking out Egypt, Gibraltar, and Malta all in the first turn?  If that’s the case the Allies are screwed, but I don’t remember seeing that anywhere…  I think your numbers are off.

      Well, if P40 is anything to go by, my numbers can’t be far off. Japan can capture Celebes, Yunan, Hong Kong, and destroy all allied ships except ones at the edge of the board.

      LOL, no they were not powerful at all.

      No, they were the 2nd most powerful power, the 1st being Rio de Oro

      @Funcioneta:

      Italy plays before France, so in this game we are going to have a “Italian Vichy France”  :mrgreen:

      Well, Italy invaded and was owned by France, so they shouldn’t be able to take Vichy on the first turn(but looking at P40, they’ll probably be able to take Egypt, Gibraltar, and Malta on their first turn

      If the French coastal territory survives(the Vichy territory also should, since Italy never actually captured it), France caan transport its units to the UK, or perhaps Norway, Libya, or Italy

      @Imperious:

      Thats true. Id like one for Catalina Island. They had a naval base in the 1940’s. Should be good for 3 boxes at least.

      You forgot Rio de Oro’s box: it’s units will be placed on the wron part of the map and they did absolutely nothing in the war! Thus, they should get a box just for being so useless.

    • RE: Strategic bombing questions (completely new to game)

      @Cmdr:

      I’d, honestly, say always SBR Moscow unless you need the bomber for a fight.  Russia’s so cash hungry anyway, and they really only have one viable SBR target (Caucasus is worth 4, so 8 max damage, and Karelia 2 so max 4 SBR damage) that if you send more than one bomber (and most likely if you are in a situation where you want to SBR, you are sending more than one) hit Moscow since you can do 12 damage there.

      Other than that, I agree.  SBR is an end game tactic to kick a man when he’s down in an effort to end the game by surrender and thus get back to your pizza and beer…or another game!

      Karelia doesn’t have a factory in AA42

      IL’s house rules only use minor IC’s and naval bases(naval ports) He doesn’t use air bases.

    • RE: How is France going to survive even 1 round?!?

      I just hope that Germany won’t be like another Japan: able to kill France on the 1st turn AND eliminate almost all or all british/french naval units(In P40, the japs can destroy all allied ships except the Indian and San Francisco navy).

      @Make_It_Round:

      Because if you put a chip under a battleship you have two battleships. Any other questions?

      I meant under factories. Damage BB’s can be turned on their side.

      Typically put one in Egypt. Or India.

      Egypt is not British on UK1, and India can be captured by Japan

      @axis_roll:

      Play 1942 WITHOUT the National Advantages.

      That alone is a huge difference in the game.  The Axis start with practically all of their NO’s already.

      RE: closing the dardenelles straight.

      We use a middle ground between wide open and totally closed:
      SZ16 is open, but access via the sea is only allowed to bulgaria (not ukraine or caucasus)

      does that mean that only bulg can be invaded from SZ16?
