    • RE: PRO ITALIAN STRATEGY

      I have yet to try invade Turkey, I don’t like the idea of it personally because you have to beef against eight infantry and you turn all neutrals into pro allies which is just nice for US and UK to abuse.

      China is a strange nation, being brute forced one time as China and Japan still failed to loose take out and to this day, I still have no idea how I kept the Flying Tigers alive.

      Which is why players have been trying to find a way to get Afrika Korp into the game somehow or the other one I have seen is Germany mass an army and invade Turkey to get into the Middle East.

    • RE: G40.2 new powers

      Canada is a minor power because its military operation is minor overall and heavily dependent on US and UK. Canada’s only major operation in Asia was reinforcing Hong Kong, being an auxiliary force in Africa and committed in Europe so they were pretty centered in the conflict.

    • RE: PRO ITALIAN STRATEGY

      The reason why Italy is hated by most good players is because Italian offensive ability completely relies on what UK does there turn. If they destroy Italian navy, you lost your colonies, Germany now has to help defend Rome and Italy basically has to force itself to help Germany invade USSR due to lack of navy. If UK does not attack the Italian navy, then Italy and Germany need to decided if taking over Egypt is going to be worth it while at the same time waiting to see if the allies will do Operation Torch.

      Realistically, these nations should be minor powers. Canada, Finland, Romania, Hungry, Mongolia, Brazil, and you could make a case for Spain even though they were technically neutral.

    • RE: Darien Gap

      Most of the board do not cover actual gaps the allied navies had to face. For example, while Germany has submarines in the correct sea zones at the start of turn 1, the actual Bomber Gap which is a famous gap between UK and US where U-boats operated because allied fighters needed carriers in order to operate in this area is not actually covered in the game.

    • RE: Question about chinese territories?

      Answer to the questions are simple. Chinese occupied territories by Japan are already Chinese to begin with, you’re just seeing a very rare case of them already under enemy control, just picture Japan taking them on turn zero. So they are Chinese in origin so they are liberated, they return to China. China has an awesome advantage of being able to place units on fresh controlled territories so lets say US takes over a Chinese territory on the sea and lets assume that territory is still surrounded by Axis forces, China can place units on that territory after its turn.

    • RE: Worst Country to play

      I agree that USA is a boring nation to play at first. If the Axis powers does nothing threatening to the allies they are currently at war, then USA is forced to sit there and sit on their hands.

      Correct, France has a 97% chance of failing from German hands, so unless France gets that awesome 3 percent or Germany just refuses to send a threatening force, France always falls.

    • RE: Buying units - bait and switch

      @ShadowHAwk:

      @Caesar:

      Plus I also kind of hate the clause in the rule that if you overbuy units or you refuse to place said units, you automatically get a refund. I think that is too easy on players for failing to pay attention and/or do basic math.

      Your not allowed to refuse to place units, you have to mobilize any unit you can.
      And as opponent its wise to always count the numbers of units and correct your opponent on his number of buys so he has to correct them before battles start.

      It may be a rule in 1941 as I swear I read it there saying that if you refuse to place units that turn, you must be refunded.

    • RE: Damaged battleships become coastal bb

      Doesn’t sound like a good idea because with your idea, a US battleship that takes damage in the middle of the Pacific would need to move to the closest island which would hold it back.

    • RE: Soviet Armies in the Far East

      @oysteilo:

      there are tons of posts on this topic. I think some important guidelines are
      1. What does Germany buy? If Navy, you can put all 20 in buryatia
      2. If Germany buy planes, men or a combo, retreat all units 1 space. For plane buy consider moving all or some back R2
      3. It is also important what you plan to do with America? Europe first? Then it is easier for those men to stick around. Japan first? More important to go to Moscow

      It is not a yes or no question. It also depends on what you feel like. Sometimes it is EXTREMLY powerful for those men to just start walking through china if you have the opportunity!

      I don’t think it matters what Germany or Italy buys. In theory, UK and US should keep those nations in check, yes they will have to help USSR anyways but what you leave in the east shouldn’t affect what happens in the West. I have yet to see any situation where I needed to move Soviet infantry in the east to Moscow.

    • RE: Soviet Armies in the Far East

      I leave them in the East. Several reasons for this; It helps make Japan think about NOT doing an invasion of USSR right from the get go, it stops them from jacking loose Soviet territories, and it helps the Pacific allies in a pinch.

      China is a 50/50 nation, I have played as China and handed Japan’s ass to them before. Granted, Japan played terribly but still.

      Lets be honest, if you’re playing USSR or a minor nation, all you are really doing is stalling the Axis powers.

    • RE: G40 naval ideas

      Yeah exactly. Another huge problem I have with this game is as said in the other forms, that units should have different attacks and defense against certain units. Transport craft in WWII have basic defense abilities against aircraft and fast attack craft so I still argue that it should have a defense of 1 for the sake of logic in this game.

    • RE: G40 naval ideas

      Here is my problem with two of your units, carriers have no offensive abilities so why give them an attack as one? Are there any case of a carrier committing offensive ability on its own? Second, transports defense of 0. Again, this is pointless, they should have some ability to defend. Even if you go to the most unlikely event, say 1 fighter vs 100 transports. No way one fighter would slaughter 100 transports but in this game, they do.

      France would be too easy to say as they have a 97% chance of losing regardless.
