      Clarification please on French territories once Paris has fallen.

      Once Paris has fallen, France does not collect income from that point forward. But for French colonial territories, who controls the income when an Ally marches through?  In Indo China, and Indonesia Britain or an ally can claim the IPCs by simply placing a friendly land unit there. Is this also true for French Africa?

      Once Paris has fallen, if Britain lands troops in Morocco beginning the long march to Libya, does the British player scope up those IPCs along the way like he can in Indo China?  We’ve never played like that in our other games, but have in our last one. We tried to look for clarification in the rules but have not seen anything obvious.

      Well, no one is bullying anyone that I have seen.

      Its more over-strategizing each round, seemingly inviting discussion for each combat operation by allies.

      Not discounting valuable advice from your allies which we all seek, my view is that this level of co-ordination in-turn each round takes away from individual play and is time consuming. For me, something challenging may be lost when allies overly depend on other’s impute on each strategy.

      In the end, each player controls the country so at some point individual play is necessary.

      -when it’s not their turn
      So if it is Germany’s turn the UK/Russia/US player can talk away from the game so long as that does not interfere with the flow of Germany’s turn, yes?

      I like the use of timers in general and loss of IPCs for taking to long. Maybe something that can be of use in my group.

      Table Talk in Axis and Allies

      What is considered table-talk in Axis and Allies?

      In cards, table talk is considered communication by a player with another player with cards in their hand, usually contrary to the rules of the game. Such communication may be through explicitly naming cards, but it is far more common to try to give hints which the opposing players will think innocent, but which will be understood by the player’s partner.

      In the games of Axis and Allies, I consider table talk to be for other allied players to strategize, make suggestions, or give hints for a player when it is not their/his turn.  When you have allied players micro-managing another player’s turn and constantly suggesting and reminding that player on strategies, to remember to move this token here or there, it begs the question why do you have the player playing in the first place?

      What I would like to do with my group is limit this form of table talk in our gaming sessions.   Are there other examples of table talk? What has your group’s experience been with table talk and the example above?

    • RE: Battle of the Port of Alexandria (( Sea Zone 98 )), Reverse Taranto

      You are correct. No way for Germany to get to that UK fleet in 98. Visited a friend and he and I set it up on his version of triple A. I thought that there was an air base in German Prussia, but there is not. Well that scratches that strategy! lol TY though.

      Battle of the Port of Alexandria (( Sea Zone 98 ))
      Reverse Taranto

      The goal is to preserve the Regia Marina, the Italian Royal Navy,  in Taranto; preserving those heavy capital ships for Italy, which can not easily replace them.  This may not be sound strategy. This may never be played in any scenario. But I am looking for pros and cons and if it were plausible just how to make it happen. Any impute will be appreciated.

      As Germany, How can I make this an effective strike while also targeting the British Royal Navy in other key locations? I recognize that most may consider the loss of the Italian navy as expected and given. My objective is to dissuade a Taranto raid so that those vessels can be used to prevent a Spanish beach head and guard the Straight of Gibraltar.

      This is what I was thinking of:

      I was thinking  the two strategic bombers , and two or three tactical bombers from Germany may do some damage to that fleet. I would lose the tactical bombers in the sea on this kamikaze raid. But they may be more easily replaced then the Italian navy. But would these be enough against 1 battleship, 1 tactical bomber, 1 cruiser, 1 destroyer, and 1 transport?

      Thanks for your advice!

    • Italy strategies.

      Hello,

      I’ve Been running this over in my mind the past few days, is it ever worth it for Germany to prevent a Taranto raid? Assist more in the Med with air power?
      I know Germany needs plains to take out the British royal navy in the North Sea and English Channel, but is it worth it for Germany to maybe divert some air power towards the French fleet?

      I’m thinking on better strategies for the Italy, possibly allowing Italy to take Yugoslavia and Bulgaria to increase its IPC share, in addition to South of France, and Gibraltar for control of the Med.

      In a recent game, Italy did preformed very well. As usual Italy did lose her fleet, as did England lose significant naval assets. But Italy was able to take Egypt and Alexandria the turn after England built a factory there on UK1. To hold it, Germany landed five planes there until Italy could build ground units on par with England’s in South Africa. The savannahs and jungles stretching the length of Africa from the Sudan to South Africa were in open play, and Italy was on the gates of Persia having liberated Iraq. Earlier, Germany aloud Italy the South of France, Bulgaria, and Greece.

      This held until America landed in Gibraltar, changed things up a bit. Thankfully, Germany was on the brink of an Axis victory with city victory win conditions.

      But I kept thinking how we could have improved more, and I believe that a possible strategy is for German air power to aid more in the Med by taking out French assets, possibly going after the British fleet in the eastern Med? What are the pros and cons here? I feel Italy could have done better had they been able to keep more of their capital ships. After the first round, by near attrition, it seems the med was nearly devoid of any shipping.

      Any suggestions and comments are appreciated.

      Refresh my memory on neutrals…

      say an ally attacks a neutral, but not myself. does it then mean my whole alliance is at war with all neutrals or just that player who attacked the neutral?

      @ChocolatePancake:

      It’s non-combat, and must be a land unit (AAA don’t count). They can land planes there, but to claim the territory as their own, they must land an Infantry, Artillery, Mech, or Tank unit.

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

      A follow up question about Dutch East Indies…. as UK and Australian forces can move into them and claim their IPC values without DoW… does the forces have to be land forces or can Australia land a plan on Borneo, for instance, and claim the territory and IPCs? And would this be something that has to be done on non-combat phase, as is entering other friendly neutrals?

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

      @simon33:

      I’m not aware of any such software limitation.

      True neutrals and the Dutch are hostile to the Axis and must be attacked, therefore can’t be moved into on non combat move.

      @Pac:

      Where Units Can Move
      Land Units: A land unit can move into any friendly or friendly
      neutral territory,…

      Sea Units: A sea unit can move through any friendly sea
      zone. It cant move into or through a hostile sea zone.

      @Pac:

      Japan may attack Dutch territories
      only if a state of war exists between it and the United Kingdom and ANZAC.

      Does that clarify it for you?

      Thank you Simon! Am looking these up right now (downloading copy of pacific rules as I dont have a copy myself). I do remember a debate as to whether Pacific rules were superseded by Global rules? In the past few games Japan has been able to occupy DEI without DoW on England, which felt off to me.

      edit: downlowaded the rules pacific… clear as day! TY Very Much!
