      W T F ?
Someone has hacked IL’s account on this board ? Because I can’t understand the connection between these two statements :

Your assuming they are not chimps? Since they are chimps how can they be upset? They certainly are not upset about not lifting a finger to market their AA products. Certainly not upset about the rubbish manner they conduct business. These are the things they should be worried about.
I will send them more bananas to placate them. Chimps go wild over such things.

      and

The goal is to get WOTC to have the money to reinvest to new AA products and ones of substantial quality.

Finally got mercy with the chimps ?  ( please add irony tags where you see them fit )

Yes, I played the Allies. It was around the end of the year.
Maybe when you’ve finished the game with jcbbjjttt we can start a pbem game as well ?

      @jcbbjjttt:

I prefer to use tdice.appspot.com/web for my games so I don’t get a zillion emails.

What is the difference between tdice.appspot.com/web and tdice.appspot.com/email ?
I don’t really know what to choose there. Has it something to do with the number of emails the server sends ?

    • RE: US Naval pound strategy – Please comment

If I understood it right, you send in just 1 Inf and let the cruisers/battleships score the hits.
May I refer you to page 15, quoting
“The number of ships that can make bombardment attacks is limited to one ship per land unit being offloaded from the transports in that coastal territory.”

So with just one man offloaded you just get one shot.

And btw : Ftr defense on industrial bombing is an optional rule.  (page 14).

Hey, 41 seconds behind Krieghund is not too bad but still 2nd place. ;)

    • RE: Some doubts about D-Day

      @PARRAesp:

-If there are 8 units in a place; Can I move 2 of them to one place and the other 6 ones to another zone? If it’s yes; Even to three different zones?

      Yes, even to three zones.

-If I have 3 patrols in a place and a unit which is placed there moves, they will receive shoots from my fighters. And what’s happens if a unit which is placed in another zone enters in a place which is patroled by my fighters will it be attacked too?

Yes, whenever you move in or out each fighter gets a shot at each single unit.

-Can I exchange troops between 2 full places (Both have 8 units)?

Hm, intuitively I’d say yes, but I’m not 100% sure because of the 8 unit stacking limit.

-If there are units fighting agains mines in a zone which is patroled by my fighters will they receive fire?

Only when they moved into that zone on OrderCard 12 ( “Axis Moves” ) but not on OrderCard 13 (“Axis Attacks”).

-When Germany receives reinceforcements in a place patroled by fighters will they receive attacks?

At least card No.15 says so.  :-D

Come on be honest, you never took a look at the rules, did you ?

    • RE: Saving alll Spending points to the bank for a turn.

So how about buying 1 AC and 2 Destroyers on UK1 ? You could place the AC and one DD in SZ8, which are joined by the american Cruiser on US1. The other British destroyer could be used to block the 2 subs from the Baltic Sea.
This way you sacrifice one DD but on Germany’s second turn it would come down to
      1 sub, 2 ftr, 2 Bmb  vs  1 AC + 2 ftr, 1 DD, 1 Cruiser

Maybe Germany might rethink attacking that fleet.  ( success is about 50%)

    • RE: Spring 42 question

      @pottymouff:

      greetings

new to the forums and introducing my 12 year old to axis and allies as my father did me.

      Hello and welcome aboard.

Question regarding opening german move.  Atlantic sub to Eastern Canada British transport  is it an auto kill?

Yes, it is. Transports don’t fight back anymore.

And has anyone actually figured out how the new artillery and upgraded tank on offense effect the time honored “infantry push mechanic”?

You could give these links a try for a start:

o and im using the rereleased version of classic with the updated rules.

What do you mean by that ?  Is it Revised or Spring1942 ?

and i see no optimum way of killing UK Home fleet on G1  any thoughts would be appreciated.  thank you

Well, it can’t be done without sacrificing air units or subs, so what is your definition of “optimum” ?

    • RE: I can't lose as Allies?

I followed your discussion about the two methods of reinforcement and looked at it from a mathematical point of view.
Let’s look at the combined number of reinforcements for the Axis and the Allies. The method of the rulebook is to use
      A : Sum of 4 dice ( 4d6)
This leads to an average of 14 and a standard deviation of 3.416.

The alternative Deadeye mentioned is to use 2 dice + 6 ( two times 1d+3 ).

First thing to notice is that you get an average of just 13 with his proposal.
So my idea is to use
      B : Sum of 2 dice  + 7 ( 2d6+7)
With this method we get an average of 14 and a standard deviation of 2.415.
Practically I suggest that you roll once 1d+4 and then 1d+3. Let the player choose which one ( US/UK or Rennes/Rouen ) gets the +4 bonus.

To compare the two ways of rolling I give some details :
      a) The diagram shows the distribution of probability :

      b) With a probability of 95% you get a number between 8 and 20 ( Met. A ) or 10 and 18 ( Met. B)
      c) Looking at the differences between Axis and Allies combined reinforcements you get a number between 0 and 20 ( Met.A ) or 0 and 10 ( Met. B). Interestingly, the average difference between the two sides doesn’t vary a lot. It’s 3.865 ( Met.A) compared to 2.744 ( Met. B).
      d) Achieving a notable difference between the two sides is harder using Met.B.  The diagram shows the cumulative probability and can be read like this. Pick a probability on the upward axis ( like 95 %) and you can read that using Met. A the difference is between 0 and 9 while using Met.B it’s between 0 and 6.

      e) The most probable difference between the two sides is 1 unit (!) regardless of the method.

    • Who's at the top of the box ?

Just to kill some time I tried to identify all the people on the cover of the AA42 box. I believe four of them are :
Dowding (UK), Manstein (GER), Eisenhower (US, the only face I knew ), Vasilevsky (RUS) but who’s the one at the top ?
I found no answer looking through the Forum, so please shed some light on the question.

Chinese coloured fighter and artillery (although I never get to buy any).

Chinese fighters in Europe ?  I’m not too sure about this, but hey, now that Volvo is Chinese, why not.  :-)

I tell what I don’t want in AAE40 : A lonely russian sub in the Barents Sea.
Please, please, please. This sub has always been useless since AA was born.

Maybe you printed out your own map and look for a National Production Chart to track all those IPC movements.
Then these files come in handy :

      http://www.mediafire.com/?q2wlwygmq3q

One version has the Advert font ( my favourite one, like A&A Europe ) and the other has the font used in the latest A&A Edition.

Good site ! Wish it had been there when I first started to play TripleA online. Unfortunately I get the feeling that all they ever want to play at the Lobby is A&A Anniversary. You seldom see other variants offered.

    • RE: Game Map ( an alternative )

      @Imperious:

Can you get this in a one piece file?  I print them out in one sheet.

Unfortunately not. I started with Illustrator and got the 1-file map above. I found no good way (i.e. my Illustrator abilities are limited ) to use a bitmap pattern ( water and sand )  without the repetition of the pattern being too obvious.
So I created a multipage PDF in Illustrator and opened each page in Photoshop. There I added Layers for the water and the ground. Therefore the deluxe map exists just as multiple PDF files. Maybe you can tell me how to do convincing patterns in Illustrator and I can try to create a one file map.
But it must be a hell of a printer that can print out 140cm x 70 cm !

      Two remarks :

      1. I just realized that there should be “Western Europe” instead of “France” on the map. It’s called Western Europe on the setup card, so don’t be surprised if you can’t find it under that name on the map.
      2. Here is the corresponding deluxe setup card PDF : http://www.mediafire.com/file/zooddgijnmj/SetupDeluxe.pdf
