In the rulebook, it says that China is allowed to attack Japanese forces in and occupy Burma and Kwangtung. Does this also mean that they can non-combat move infantry and/or the Flying Tigers into either territory? Thanks.

RE: China too weakposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
China is plenty strong enough to serve it’s purpose. It can have infantry pop up anywhere, so Japan must cover every front. Also, combining their infantry and Flying Tigers with British units in Yunnan creates a powerful defensive stack.

RE: Disapointedposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
MaherC, I don’t have a chance to play very often. I was just curious about the Allied counters to your opening. I was only trying to understand where you were coming from saying the game is broken, as I think it is well balanced.

RE: Getting extra pieces?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I got a response from WOTC today:
Hello,
The Axis & Allies: Pacific 1940 game has a known issue where the Battle Strip is misprinted. Some of numbers are wrong or missing. While we don’t have any correct Battle Strips available for replacement at this time, we do expect to receive them by February. Please reply with the following information so we can make sure to send you a correct Battle Strip when we get them in:
First Name:
Last Name:
Address:
City:
State:
Zip Code:
Phone Number (with area code):In the mean time, the correct information is the provided in both the rulebook and the game board itself.
We very much appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.
There is no mention of the boxes with incorrect set-ups or Japanese tac bomber pieces that I had requested information on.

RE: Why wait as Japan?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
J4 is too late IMO. I think attacking J3, or J2 if there is an opening, is the best route to go.

RE: Abattlemap moduleposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Nice work on this module, however there is one set-up error. The ANZAC sub should be in SZ47, not SZ42.

What have the Allies done to counter this, MaherC?

RE: Why wait as Japan?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I think China needs to be dealt with quickly and aggressively. Being able to place anywhere makes them more dangerous than they seem. I just played a game today as Japan and attacked J2. I would even consider a J3 attack in the future. Japan will have a better position for the initial hit, and China will be made even weaker. Besides, I think the U.S. is more dangerous with extra income than Britain or ANZAC.

RE: Getting extra pieces?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Here is the email I just sent to WOTC:
"Hello,
The copy of Axis and Allies Pacific 1940 I purchased has several components with errors. The battlestrip included appears to be for a different version of Axis and Allies, and I found out that the set-up information on the United States and ANZAC boxes is wrong. I was wondering how I could get a correct battlestrip and boxes. Also, would it be possible for me to get more Japanese tactical bomber pieces, as there are not enough pieces for me to move the existing ones apart or buy more?
Thank you"
I wonder how many people have to ask for more tac bombers before WOTC gives in?

RE: The dutchposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
If the U.K. had to liberate Dutch islands them from Japan to collect the income, they would probably never collect income on the Dutch islands.

RE: I have a problem :Dposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Have you tried attacking later? Just because Japan loses with a first round attack doesn’t mean they can’t win at all.
-
RE: Disapointedposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I can deal with the lack of money (been writing income down on paper since Revised) but the abundant typos and the lack of pieces is stupid.

RE: So how do the Allies win again?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I believe swiss is on the right track with buying a lot of ground units with Britain. Buying infantry, artillery, and maybe an occasional mech infantry will strech Japan thin fighting both China and Britain. This will allow the U.S. and ANZAC to build and move against Japan.

RE: Borneo airbaseposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I think for Britain, getting boots on the ground is key. 4 infantry 1 artillery first turn should work whether Japan attacks or not. Britain starts with enough air power to use that for additional offense, and will probably have to use their starting ships to stall Japan, as building more ships seems like a waste.

RE: What do we want in AAE40 that we didn't get in AAP40?posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I think including more Japanese tac-bombers in AAE40 isn’t unreasonable. How much would it cost to put 6 more in each game? I’m thinking it is pennies at most.

RE: Strategy tips: Japan IC in Kwa T3 ?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Malaya is closer by water, though, so you can get ground units to India in 1 turn. With 6 IPC tanks, it will be a little harder to pull a tank dash, so getting infantry and artillery to the front seems more valuable.

RE: Strategy tips: Japan IC in Kwa T3 ?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I’m wondering if a Malaya factory wouldn’t be a better build instead, as it is closer to India and Australia. The factory could probably go down on J3 or J4, as you should attack Malaya when Japan declares war or after Britain and ANZAC declare war on Japan. Malaya also has a naval base, if I remember correctly.

RE: Why wait as Japan?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
@Frontovik:
full attack on J1
UK loses battleship, you can put IC on kwantung earlier, phillipine bomber, US transport and allto of other stuffI haven’t actually played a game yet (hoping for two next week), so this is all still speculation, but it makes sense to me.
I would much rather have a factory at Malaya than Kwangtung. It is closer to India and Australia, and has the capacity for a major factory. Japan waits until J2 or J3 for an attack, which keeps the U.S. at a lower income and allows Japan to hit China harder. Then the Malaya factory is used to hit India, China’s southern territories, valuable islands, and maybe even ANZAC.

RE: German Baltic Transport Buildposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Having the Allies merge in SZ8 allowed a large landing at Africa on U.K. 2. The Baltic needed to be reinforced by a carrier on Germany 2, and will need future reinforcement (we took a break after U.K. 3). The 2 transport build is looking like a huge liability, as I haven’t been able to use all 3 transports yet.
Thank you for the game offer Fleetwood, but neither of us has played Revised much recently. We are playing it again because I feel it is better balanced than AA50. I don’t think either of us would give you much of a game at the moment
However, if the offer is still good in the future, I may send you a PM. I could come up with another weird idea I want to try :-)
