DM, should we begin playing second round games as soon as both people are finished with their first round game or should we wait for everyone to finish round 1?

Butcher over Pavlov. He got burned by dice pretty hard multiple times, otherwise our game would have gone on a lot longer.

RE: How is the balance with the new Alpha 2 changes? Please give your view.posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
You were complaining about the U.S. being able to prevent Sealion, so I assumed you weren’t delaying the Japanese attack (like the J2 attack you describe with a G4 Sealion).

If you’re going to conduct Sealion, just have Japan invade the turn before Germany invades the United Kingdom. Problem solved.

Most if not all of your house rules defeat some of the main purposes of the newest setup or of the game in general. Try coming up with a strategy based on the latest alpha setup.

Looking for a copy of AA50- New or Usedposted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
I am interested in buying a copy of AA50. It can be new or used as long as the components to the game are not damaged. Minor wear doesn’t bother me at all. If you are interested in selling please send me a PM with the price you have in mind.

Hence why they consider the Taranto Raid. Make sure you’re reading everything carefully before asking questions

RE: Taranto Raid- standard???posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Which is why I put the disclaimer about it possibly not being a problem. If the U.K. was not supposed to seriously consider the Taranto Raid, I would think that they would have other targets.

RE: Taranto Raid- standard???posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I remember reading somewhere a suggestion that Italy would be neutral with the U.K. until I1 or attacked an Allied power. That would fix the Taranto Raid (if it is even a problem) without adding or moving units.

RE: Axis too strong?posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
I don’t understand how Moscow can fall on G4, much less both London and Moscow. Russia must play aggressively, building a mix of infantry, artillery, and tanks. If Germany sends straight tanks, the Western Allies can drop the hammer much faster.

U.K. will likely get smashed immediately, so I don’t see this working well. Big advantage U.S.-Germany.

RE: Please post when (and only when) you finally get your AAE40 home.posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I got mine 8/25 at around 3 p.m. I ordered from Coolstuffinc. and UPS shipped it. The box was badly damaged in one corner, but the actual game components are fine.
Edit: Forgot to include that I live near Lansing, MI.

So France doesn’t get 4 free infantry when Paris is liberated in E40, only in G40?

RE: ICsposted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
If your going to build a Norway factory, have the U.S. build it. Then they can devote some income to the Pacific while getting ground units to Russia for aid or building ships in the Baltic to protect the U.K. fleet. It is a strategy I have had success with often.

RE: Inherent Problem With Sealionposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I remember reading somewhere that when a major IC is captured it becomes a minor IC. That means Germany will have almost no chance of holding London.

Why can’t the Pacific alone have a slightly different setup than the Global version?

RE: My way of balancing pacific 1940, good for j1, j2, and j3posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
This change makes almost no difference. Japan will just lose one more plane in their attack on India if they follow up with a J3 India crush. My best advice is to bid, and be smart about bidding in a way that will encourage the Japanese player to wait. For example, placing a destroyer off of Hawaii and placing 2 infantry in the Philippines. Reduces the amount of damage a J1 attack can do, and lets America enter the war faster. However, this bid will have a smaller impact on a J2 or J3 attack
