      I am new to playing on TripleA, but I noticed that “normal” dice on TripleA doesn’t seem to be so normal. I often see 3 @ 1 getting 1 hit or 2 hits way more often then when actually throwing dice on a table top. This seems to occur often when it’s more important like AAA during a S Bombing Raid. On table top I prefer normal dice. But on TripleA, I’m starting to like the LL dice option more.

      Sometimes I think the TripleA “normal” dice is even worse than LL. Any thoughts and or agreement on this.

      @Maddog77:

      Why yes it is! My son acquired that from some Army friends of ours. It’s a showpiece and, obviously, not a live round. Good eye for the detail too.

      It caught my attention because I own an empty .50cal heavy machine gun round which I bought at an antique show.  From the different shape and apparently larger size of the round on your shelf, I took a guess that it was the 20mm type.  I think that bits of military paraphernalia like this (things like flags, propaganda posters, maps, officer caps, 1940s-style rotary telephones, medals and so forth) make wonderful “set decorations” in a war-themed gaming room and really help to create an inspiring atmosphere.

      I like to take the money won from the fall of France and invest in a major complex for the eastern front.  Build a large infantry force that will march north towards Lgrad once Barbarossa begins.  Force Russian player to decide between defending Lgrad or Moscow with infantry.  If I can get the Russian to split off some infantry it helps.  Concentrate all German forces into one attack.  Sometimes the Russian doesn’t split and I’ll take Lenningrad.  I send a smaller force south towards Stalingrad, but they veer north after the marshes to merge with main force right before the attack on Moscow.  I try and push a lot of infantry forward knowing that I can get armor and fighters forward later just prior to an attack.  I keep a lot of my aircraft in Germany to ward off allied invasion in the west and slowly build up a defense force there until I withdraw the Luftwaffe.  Has anyone else invested in a major IC for eastern front with success?

      My gaming group instituted a house rule on the Soviet NO.  The Soviet Union can get the IPCs for any Neutral territory on the European Mainland ONLY if the Axis powers occupied that territory first.  In other words, they would have to take it from Germany or Italy.

      We did this because we didn’t like the idea of the Soviets simply walking into someplace like pro-Allied Greece and getting 4 free infantry, 2 IPCs for the territory and the NO on top of it.  Also, we didn’t like the idea that the Soviets could attack a strict Neutral, like Turkey or Sweeden, and get an NO bonus for it while turning all other strict Neutrals pro-Axis, which could make things harder on US and UK.

      I think that UK has the advantages in the Mediterranean, and that Italy won’t have Egypt when the US comes in.

      However, I have seen it all when it comes to rolls in the Med. I’ve seen all Italian naval units lost, save 1 transport, for 1 British destroyer lost.
      I have also seen the reverse. So if Italy gets good rolls they can be a superpower. But if not, they’re in trouble.

      @MarkVIIIMarc:

      Trick will be not letting the americans pull any gimmicks like taking over rome.

      If you bomb the NB in Gibraltar you elimnate any USA gimmicks

      If you hit more than 3 damage (and not get shot down by the AA)

      Ive never heard of bids til recently. I can see both sides as it relates to classic 2nd ed. The game was more challenging for the axis and therefore i always played the axis cuz nobody wanted to. A bid system would have changed the human line up but it would have also biased the game. As it was…i got to be a strong axis player due to experimenting with different stratagies, deciding when to pull back, when to feint, and especially in the opening turns to push my numerical superiority to gain ipc and close the income gap before the allies could get mobilized. I cant speak to the other varients because i have limited play time in them, but i would imagine this to hold true. Im not knocking the bids but from my experience with classic, I see it as a custom rule that could be taken or left, but not necessary if you put in the time to play learn and stratagize.
