@brian-cannon @djensen I would point out that a few months ago, Wargamer.com featured A&A 1942 online and pointed out the problematic dice, as well as pointing out the lack of response to said dice by the Developers. The writers for Wargamer.com have been around wargames based on dice, itās their profession. The response to the article from a former developer at Beamdog was to downplay the criticism and said the articleās criticism of the dice āwas just a thingā

@djensen I have played hundreds of game @djensen. This season a couple of handfulās as I left out of pure frustration for a couple months due to the dice and the inaction of the development team to recognize there was a serious problem and to react to it. I have played countless games of the actual board game and know how frustrating normal dice are but the dice represented in this game are ridiculous, not borderline ridiculous, but completely ridiculous.
I have participated in the Dice survey and when asked about high value units scoring automatic hits I answered NO, as I do not believe automatic hits are called for nor fair. What I did say is I want random dice. I believe the Devs have always known about the dice, in fact I think the dice as they are were deliberately put in by the Devs to even out the slight Axis advantage that this version of the game has. It is one thing to see a crazy result a couple of times but that isnāt the case here, the oddities in rolls are frequent and continuing.
As far as the developers, had they been transparent with the community from the get go, I think the player base might have been more understanding, but rather than listen early on, they denied completely there was a hint of a problem. Now they seem to be reacting to the ground swell of complaints but it rings hollow, and is undercut by their previous inaction. The dice are the most important aspect of this game, and if they arenāt fair or there is something wrong, then the integrity of this game and the results are nothing. That isnāt to say strategy does not play a large part, it certainly does but dice decide outcomes. -

@brian-cannon There is just something drastically wrong with the dice, and there has been for awhile. I have suspicions of a number of things but that there is something badly wrong I have no doubt. How units like infantry and artillery have such a dramatically successful hit rate on defense and conversely units that require a 3 or more have a god awful hit rate. The funny thing is as Axis on turn 1, my units defending West Russia and Ukraine never seem to hit a damn thing, but on subsequent turns on the attack I cant take Transjordan without suffering a casualty if I take it at all, or Japs attacking Anwhei turn 1, 4 inf and a fighter and I see 2 defending infantry wipe 2-3 attacking infantry, it just simply doesnt make sense and its terribly sad that there has been nothing done to correct the problem. Have the devs deliberately weighted the dice? Does each player have their own dice profile? Are players using third party programs to affect dice rolls?

@juliusborisovbeamdog I read it and applaud your transparency, that isnāt sarcasm. My question though is why havenāt you been transparent in the past, and why for so long did your development team deny there was a problem.

@boston_nwo So curious as to the counter to the West Russia death stack, as that particularly strategy has always given me fits. Hitting it on German turn 1 seems to be all too often a suicide move

@nosho Taken from Developers Notes:
DICE & AXIS & ALLIES
Thereās been a ton of discussion in our community around dice rolls. Weāve heard you, and we understand that the randomness of the dice just doesnāt feel right. Our goal is for the combat to feel satisfying and strategic while staying true to the element of chance at the heart of the board game. So, based on community feedback, our development team is working on a āStabilized Diceā option for the game.
What does Stabilized Dice Mean?
Stabilized Dice will still be random, but will control for extreme outcomes, and should feel more natural as a result. Our objective is to allow player strategy to play a larger part in the overall game by reducing the chances that dice can swing a whole game in a single roll.
Under Construction
Weāre currently in the testing phase for this new dice option, but weāre looking forward to releasing the new dice mode in a future update!

RE: First time Playing in over 2 monthsposted in Axis & Allies 1942 Online
@nosho Well as I have said over and over, I do not deny that things like this are bound to happen sometimes, I have played the board game and that is the randomness of real dice, the problem with this representation is that it happens way to many times. Hell man dont you see the developers now admitting after denying till they were blue in the face that there is a problem with the dice??

RE: First time Playing in over 2 monthsposted in Axis & Allies 1942 Online
@nosho Nope, I have never said that. I have said repeatedly that the dice are not anything close to random, and until recently the developers have denied there was a problem. I am happy to provide screenshots of each and every turn to show what my dice results are, and how often they repeat the same horrid results.

@juliusborisovbeamdog I, for most part do not play custom games. I have seen multiple posts including Quintins on Steam discussion board that point out that āstabilized diceā are no different.

First time Playing in over 2 monthsposted in Axis & Allies 1942 Online
Left the game out of frustration with the dice. Recovering from surgery so got some time to kill. Out of boredom I decided to jump in. Have started 3 games as Axis. I have watched the Soviets completely blitzkrieg West Russia and Ukraine in every game. In 3 total games in the battle for West Russia, the Soviets have lost exactly one infantry. Ukraine battle has been successful every time with at least 2 tanks left and the third game three tanks.
In my first game back my German turn 1 attack on North sea. Soviet sub hit defensively. Both remaining German subs (I sent all 3) miss, 2 Fighters and a my cruiser combine for one hit in first round, so his battleship is scratched. Second round, Soviet sub hits defensively again (thats two hits for those counting) and wipes out my cruiser, so now I only have fighters left, which I retreat. Special note in all three games, my German subs have not hit anything in turn 1, and the Soviet sub has hit defensively three times.
I can see that my brief return to this game was futile to say the least. How they have not fixed dice up to this point is beyond me.
Note: My defense profile has my bomber going first in Ukraine for inquiring minds, but seriously what difference does it make.

RE: Starting to lose my mind with this gameposted in Axis & Allies 1942 Online
Walked away for a bit, maybe for good. Got tired of starting a game as Axis and watching Soviets roll into West Russia and Ukraine. Last two games I have seen just ridiculous defense results from my units present. First game Soviets lost nothing in West Russia and, lost one unit in Ukraine, second game wasnt much different they lost nothing in West Russia and two units in Ukraine. People can talk all they want about how the game is decided on skill, with dice results like that (and they are consistent in that way) you can forget it. There is nothing random about the dice. I cant attack a territory with one infantry defending without losing a unit, never mind losing nothing at all with German starting units in West Russia and Ukraine.

German Turn 1
Med Battleship destroyed by UK destroyer
North Sea Attack, 2 subs 1 cruiser 2 fighters vs Brit BB, Brit Destroyer, Russian Sub. Before I can even roll Russian Sub records sneak attack hit, then when I do roll, everything misses. Defense rolls records one hit, all subs gone. Press attack, 1 cruiser, 2 fighters, but wait that Russian sub get another sneak attack and hits on a one, thats two in a row, both fighters miss, and battleship hits in defense, lost everything but one fighter and hit nothing. -

@Brian-Cannon How do you overcome that initial almost always successful opening Soviet attack?

RE: [GUIDE] How to Climb the Ranked Ladder A&A 1942 SE Online Beamdogposted in Axis & Allies 1942 Online
Started out this season with Axis really well, but have hit a solid wall and probably going to lose a quite a few games in a row. Couple Allied strats I have seen that seem to give me problems. The American and UK ferry to Scandinavia seems to offer a defense against both Germany and Japan, and as Allies get stronger they start to nip at Western Europe. As Germany gets worn down IPC wise with Bomber attacks and losing territory, Russia and other allies can afford to ship units to stem any Japanese aggression. Another one I see quite often and I have a ton of problems with it is when Soviet Union starts and just does a massive attack on West Russia only, Its great not losing Ukraine but you are faced with a death stack on West Russia, and in the following UK turn you can be sure your Med fleet is going to be targeted. It is so terribly easy for Allies to kill Germany in African cutting off a source of income. Allies have a few ways to beat you and I feel Axis has the same old ground slog to Moscow.

@Brian-Cannon Actually I dont think he took out my fleet in Med, I think I would take much of Africa because Germanys income remained in the middle 40s throughout
