    • RE: Defending Submarines Question:

      Hi…

      OOB Rules…

      So on a sub topic…

I plan to move my 2 subs into a SZ to attack a cruiser and battleship. No enemy subs or destroyer present in this SZ. Using the surprise first strike:

the 2 sub fires a two or less on the sea units and misses.

Does the Cruiser and Battleship respond to attack?

I thought the sub just did the surprise attack and then then out of that round of battle. If I am correct, then really the Cruiser and Battleship are sitting ducks because the subs each round of battle will just continue to fire the surprise sneak attack.
Just reading the rules peops and needing further detailed results~!~

      Cheers,

      BH

Thank you you two for pointing out the obvious to me…durrr!!

Your answer’s No. 4 and 7 I find most helpful and Yes, thanks for clarifying I had the wrong end of the stick. One last question I hope…

So, if you do leave your navy in a Convoy SZ when you are not YET at war, does anything happen on your opponents power when still neutral with you, meaning would it conflict a force of war between them?

    • Convoy Rule

Hiya Peop’s… I have some crazy ( mostly Yes or No answers I hope ) convoy questions that I can’t find the answer to in the forum. These may appear to be very basic questions!

Reading Convoy Rule on pg 22 of Europe book and the 3 conditions: SZ MUST have a Convoy symbol, SZ adjacent to the territory, at least ONE warship must be in that SZ you are at war with.

So to the rule  at least ONE warship must be in that SZ you are at war with:

      1. It is saying that you can NOT conduct a Convoy attack if that SZ is open with no enemy ships in? ( meaning you can’t just slide your navy piece in that free SZ Convoy location ).

      2. So you attack a Convoy SZ by attacking the enemy navy in that zone, THEN if successful you got your goal by getting the Convoy?

      3. Air units can take part in a normal SZ battle with a Convoy Symbol?

      4. Once you get that Convoy in that SZ, and say you stay there un-attacked, do you keep deducting IPC’s from you’re opponent each round if your opponent still owns that territory?

      5. If that SZ is now open again because you moved on and the enemy puts boats back into that same Convoy SZ and it is later attacked, it’s a brand new attack?

      6. If you do a battle in a SZ with a convoy sign and successful, and you plan to land your troops from a transport after ( so you claim that territory ), what you have done is basically a normal move ( ignoring Convoy points because you just claimed the new territory )?

      7. The IPC’s taken away from your opponent’s nation, do they deducted from the National Production Chart ( Score Board ) or can they deduct ipc’s money back to the bank? Does it matter which way round it is done?

I think that is it for now on Convoy’s.

      Appreciate the feed back.

    • RE: OOB rule on Russia entering China

We are all up early…too early…or late!

So, if Russia did go through into China via any of the 3 Western territories, it will announce it is now at war with Japan, correct?

    • OOB rule on Russia entering China

      Hi,

If Russia not at war yet with either European Axis or Japan, are they able to enter China via the 3 Western territories of China ( which would automatically be a declare war on Japan ) or is it they MUST only meet Japan on land via Amur/Manchuria to declare war on Japan?

So this applies to the UK then too, UK must wait for land or sea action to collide with Japan on land ( Shan State ) or at sea for the UK to enter China.

I do see it on the rules clearly on pg 33/34, but my question on Russia entering China via Western territories it doesn’t say.

My heart says it CAN’T enter China ( same for UK situation ) to declare war on Japan, only via Amur/Manchuria.

      Just curious.

      Thanks

    • Amphibious Assult vs subs.

      Hi,

Reading OOB rules to AnA G40 original, pg 17 in Europe, under step one, it says If there was only defending subs or transports, the attacker can choose to ignore them or do the sea battle

Great, but why would the defending Subs have no say and allow the attacker to stroll into that SZ to then conduct the Land Bombardment?

      Whittmann,

Is that the OOB rules that planes can capture Dutch Territories? So you’re saying a plane can fly and land on Dutch territory if it hasn’t been occupied yet?

    • RE: Placing the 4 French men.

Thanks Knp ( no troubs ),

I was referring to the OOB rule of 4 units. So Krieg, it can be any four units like Knp described as an example? I had never thought of that using any land units.

    • Placing the 4 French men.

      Hi,

So when the French have the advantage of placing 4 of there infantry after France being Liberated, does the French player place all 4 men back into France at once as a foursome, or can it be spaced out throughout the rounds ( meaning maybe 1 man this round, 2 the next round and the final man in a future round ) ?
I have had a heated discussion and I believe it states they are placed after liberation, all 4 must be placed, not spread out in rounds ( Pg 35 Europe book ).

      Answer is please??

    • RE: Question on Scrambling

      Hi,

I have a similar Scrambling question situation.

Using OOB G40 rules, reading Europe book, it says on pg 16 top that friendly fighters/TAC can scramble too if located on the island to help your friendly defence at that SZ. Got it, understand loud and clear.

      Question is though friends…

If you scramble a SZ from that island, how can you use them to fly to a friendly SZ on an friendly AC or friendly territory during an enemy amphibious assault situation? surly if the sea battle is won by the enemy, then the enemy won the sea and air strikes before commencing onto land battle ( if any ). Trying to wrap a game play around this ruling in the book.

      Hi knp and Wittman,

Thanks for this aircraft carrier and fighter/TAC answers. This is really good to know, will re read those pages to see how Larry and the gang wrote it! Pretty amazing the quality relationship with air and AC.

    • New AC and New Fighter/ TAC G40

      Hiya Folks,

I have been trying to read through the many versions of questions and answers, but can’t find my question so here it is ( No.1 ).

      1. Can you buy a new Aircraft Carrier and new fighter/TAC bomber on same turn and in Placing New Units place your new air units on the new AC? Or does the new air units MUST be in that territory with your IC?

      So,…

      1. Can you fly your returning fighter ( from a battle ) on your new AC? ( think I read a few times it is possible…so YES ).
      2. Same question, can you fly your non combat air on your newly built AC?

These are the OOB original G40 rules.

      Cheers for your help,

      BH.

    • RE: Oil in Middle East IPC'S

      Wittmann,

Thanks! So basically it’s upto the allies to be strong enough for germany not to keep gaining extra ipcs in mid east ( part of the challenge).

Something else, reading about the Soviet transforming US or UK Land units into Soviets, if all 4 soviet indust units are still with soviet union.

Question is: this can happen ONLY if all 4 indus units owned by soviets are owned, so in other words, if germany has at least one of the four city a soviet complex has, the trade off is canceled?

    • Oil in Middle East IPC'S

      Hi,

I am introducing AnA to great Risk Players and thought start where I started AnA Europe 1941. However reading up on rules ( been a long many years ), and understand that the German player ( Axis ) can gobble up the IPC’s in the middle East and IPC is dished out from the Allied players.

So What happens when the Allies would get back the Middle East territory’s? Does Germany simply give back the IPC’s ( reverse the deal ) and lower the 1-8 on the Nat Prod board on the left side ( 1-8) ? The rules don’t explain that situation, just focuses on the Axis’s advantage.

If anyone out there happens NOT to be focused on AnAG40 and answer this question for me, that’ll be great!
