I looked too in rule book and does not say. But soon you will hear from the bigger chiefs on here for clarification!

Hi there siredblood
I can clearly confirm with you that Nation’s MUST be at war to be purchasing for R&D. Not too sure of the video you had seen, but Young Grasshopper has been doing these great Tutorial video’s on mostly AnAG40 2nd Edition and one is on R&D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4Sd15b915A
If you go to around 8:30 you will hear YGH explain this. He is spot on with the rules.
Hope this is helpful.
Bravehart.
Thank you both so far for your answers, much appreciated as always. I am sure it is rare that a German land would go as far as Mongolia, but you never know in an AnA game!
BH
Hi all…
I have read The Mongolian Rules by Gamerman01 ( which is fantastic ) and I can’t see these situation I have answered, so here it goes.
A logic answer’s would be great, and i am sorry for thinking too in depth over Mongolia Rules, but this is AnA and any circumstances may happen in a game unexpectedly….
Mongolia is yet to be attacked by any of the Political circumstances:
USA attacks Korea which has no effect to Mongolia. On Soviets next turn they have units in reach of going into Korea in which they do.
Q 1) Mongolia will NOT be negated because of the USA already in Korea, correct?
Now Japan fights for Korea and wins the territory back from the USA and then Russia decides to attack Korea the next round.
Q 2) This attack from Soviets on Korea will Negate Mongolia, even though the USA previously held Korea and Russia put there troops in with USA, correct?
Reading Gamerman01 Mongolia rule, he states that any Ally can attack Mongolia. Doing so will turn the rest of the Neutrals in the World against that side:
Q 3) So if it was Germany attacking a Mongolian territory to activate Mongolia, causing the other Strict in the world Pro Allies, that Mongolian territory Germany attacked becomes German owned from then on and the other 5 territories in Mongolia Negated?
Q 4) If my Question 3 is correct, then the Allies can attack that one Axis territory in Mongolia?
Think that’s my 4 questions. BTW thanks for Young Grasshopper’s video on Mongolian Rules too!
BH.
No probs! I have the update version with shelves added to the table if you didn’t see that video too. BH
Hey,
I was playing the USA this time and I did get Tokyo and starve Japan using Convoy’s with the USA on Korea. This was a cat and mouse with USA and Japan, but the USA had the window to move into SZ 6 to land on Korea by Rnd 8/9. Eventually it was basically till rnd 13-17 to totally kill off Tokyo and for the Allies to win the game. Meanwhile Rome was done by rnd 10 and Berlin by rnd 12.
The game was over by rnd 12 with Rome and Berlin gone, but our group plays itself out to the bitter end. The trick was, was to trick the Japanese that the USA had no interest in the Pacific at the very beginning early rnds and was going all out on the Atlantic, by pulling everything as much they can to Washington territory buy and stack up, in till it was time to sway the game to the Pacific in which this case was by rnd 4 USA were in the war. The Germans thought it was a heavy USA invasion coming across to France.
Knowing I was going to do convoys, the majority of my USA purchase was subs ( and enough air to pair up with AC and trans and land units ). These starved the Chinese territories the Japs had when I was in reach to place my USA subs along the coast. Just add up all of the IPC’s along that coast alone incl FIC and Hong Kong. Eventually they had no money to purchase, it was a matter to just keep bombing Tokyo from Korea before move my land units on transports into Tokyo.
It was risky and bold, but this worked well, however the Japanese were also one city away from winning in the Pacific, but in this case two moves too far out of reach.
That game was a proof that Japan can be taken down, even if it’s to the very last city. It all depends as we know what the Japanese is upto, and those good dice rolls, and working with your team mates.

Hey… I have a customized table for playing our AnAG40. Here is a vid on you tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5_ZAL_ensw Enjoy!

@CWO:
Found it:

Setup
Link the western edge of the Pacific 1940 map with the
eastern edge of the Europe 1940 map. The combined

zones on the eastern edge of the map are adjacent
to territories and sea zones on the western edge (see
Movement Between Maps, below).Set up units as shown on the setup charts found in Pacific
1940 and Europe 1940. Additionally, place the following
units:
Amur: 6 Soviet Infantry
Sakha: 6 Soviet Infantry
Buryatia: 6 Soviet Infantry
Egypt: 1 ANZAC InfantryThe powers start with the following IPC amounts:
Power Starting IPCs
Germany 30

Your Welcome! This is my website!
Hi…
UK has taken out a Germans minor complex ( 6 damages ). On the German players turn, if they choose to repair in the new turn, can they also produce units out of that complex the same turn?
Cheers,
BH
Well Nicbizz, welcome back to the forum!
I too have watched many video’s and really , stuck to YGH advice video’s on Russia vs Germany. All is well if Germany doesn’t attack the Soviets till rnd 4, but what if they go and attack Russia in rnd 1 and Japan strikes through to Far East Russia straight away…? I’d do more mechs than air I think as they are cheap and can move.
The Soviets don’t have much chance to recover but one thing I learnt from YGH, is to pull your Soviets back to form a line in Ukraine, Western Ukraine, Bryansk, Belarus and Novgorod. It has worked well. But you know, if Germany has bad dice rolls, then you playing Russia is laughing.
Not sure if this advice convinced an answer, but the early rounds are fishy and either you attack or defend.
BH
I think Convoy’s are, and if you are in the right position to proceed this, it’s a very great way to turn the game. Japan has 47 ipc’s on the IPC tracker right now and I am playing USA taking Korea and this is the last move of our night. We continue next week. Look at the plentiful opportunity the USA has at Convoy’s over Japan now. It won’t take long to minimise Japans income ( and correct me if I am wrong ).
Calcutta is going to be taken back and Shanghai next 2 rounds.

Thanks Simon for your reply.
I used Iwo Jima for the example to keep the question I had in mind simple. I always saw the K zones ALWAYS a threat and then thought about my example, re read the rules and then thought I’d ask!
BH
Okay…
An allied battleship decides to be in a Kamikaze Sea Zone of Iwo Jima at the end of the turn all by itself. On the Japanese following turn, can they use it’s Kamikaze opportunity on the battleship?
In the rules, it says that the Kamikaze’s are used only for defence when an Allied Ships come into a Kamikaze SZ. This Allied ship in my example is NOT attacking, it’s just sitting there, maybe by mistake or curiousness.
What happens? Is the Battleship at a great risk? Does the Kamikaze rule apply here?
BH
Thanks you two.
Strafe attacks would be the only possibility as you mentioned ShadowHAwk, but sods law if you strike too well! But it’s another curious question sorted out as there are many odd cinereous un answered here in this wonderful game haha
BH
Thanks again for thinking about my question!
BH
Hi…
If you win your territory battle and cleared everything, MUST you stay where you are where the battle took place ( land not air ), or is there such a thing where you win the land battle, but then decide not to claim it by retreating leaving it still in the hands of your enemy?
Why, well it may be a tactical land move to make the attack, but leaving it open for your other ally to claim it instead of you.
I don’t think this is a rule book rule, and once you win the territory, you MUST stay put and claim it.
Any thoughts?
BH
knp…
Interesting. So if we’d take your example, and the AAA gun misses, and the air misses, then this would open up for another round of battle intil the mission is done ( kill AAA gun/s in that territory )?
If a new round of combat, would the AAA gun/s have another chance at the free shot b4 the air tries to get a better roll of dice?
BH
Perfect… Cheers Elk! Thanks for the clarification :-)
