    • Rocket launchers on indust complex AA 50

      Hi,

Been a while since posted a question. We have re gathered and playing AA 50 and we have rolled special Rocket Launchers to fire on enemy Industry Complex upto 3 zones/territory’s away.
Now, can the range of zones$territory’s include a no fly zone such as: magnolia/himalaya’s/switzerland/northern South america? I can’t see no where in the rules that disagree, only planes and land units not able to pass through/fly over these zones ( as a norm ). I think it is possible because it’s a rocket flying over, not a plane.

Anyone out there know the correct answer please?

    • RE: HOW TO PLAY AS THE ALLIES PROPERLY

      Hey…

Good topic for me as I am playing USA ( orig global40 rules ). So my question is, how to get Tokyo and secure it?

( In in reverse to be open ), how does Japan get Western USA, leading onto Washington?

I think the Pacific theatre is a cat and mouse game for both USA and Japan. With the wide open Pacific sea with no IDC on any islands. Tokyo is heavily protected, same with San Fran the momant both see’s an attack ( incl Alaska, BC, Mexico ).

Playing either side PROPERLY is fine, but if bad dice rolls, then you’re buggerd.

      Cheers, BH

    • RE: Dealing with USA in the Pacific

Also, as many know, with the USA being in two fields, the amount of IPC’s they earn each round really isn’t much they can do if Europe and Pacific allies is asking for help.
If Japan shows they dominate the Pacific early, and keep strong, the states will be troubled and may concentrate more on Europe. Maybe if so, Japan can get on the back door of Russia via Russian territory.  The US is the only strongiest ally to take Japan, UK Pacific is too small.

    • RE: Dealing with USA in the Pacific

It all comes down to the dice, and to worry the mass of sea units Japan has to put that threat on the US…

I played Japan b4 Christmas and playing again next weekend. To deal with US in Pacific side I think is this, after learning from previous game.

J1: I have a very Conservative US player, so I will take any navy I can to Caroline Islands, taking what I can on Transporters, and fly most ( as also attaking with planes on Amur of 6 or 18 men, depending how awake the russian player is, remember it’s ger, russia, jap order, Ger move is going to do some early damaging, which may put all attention/concentration on Atlantic/European field ), leaving maybe a destroyer in SZ 34 to block the US from Carolina’s SZ 35.
I will buy major Indus Complex in Korea or Manchuria.

J2: Attack Anzac, depending what anzac’s first move was, if no SZ obstruction in SZ 54, do amps assult on Queensland, or SZ battle first etc… The US then has options: It Can go into war if wishes ( having the greed of the extra 30 ipc’s ), leaving Philippines option to attack the destroyer in SZ 34, but then having all the planes on J3 to attack back.

This will leave Japan open on her mainland, kinda, USA needs to really think. Hawaii, like all islands can’t build ( ex Japan and Australia, UK ) indus complex, so what’s US gunna do, move all Navy down from San Fran to Hawaii, or Hawaii to San Fran? That is one round of non combat move. The US force in Hawaii is too little.
Midway tho was my disadvantage for Japan, the USA 3 buy’s alot of Bombers, lands in Midway USA 4, she can fly to SZ 6 with the back up Navy to attack Tokyo.

I hope with the Anzac then followed New Zealand,DEI etc, Japan will have enough IPC’s to cope, yet also getting Philippeans on J4.

It all depends on the dice, and I think and making sure Tokyo is secure. Let everything else fall into place.

I hope this helped. I have 6 days till I try out this plan…

    • RE: -A Painting Tutorial and Resource for A&A Global-

      Spitfire,

Nice artwork and dedication. The only reasning for myself to paint was when AA50 came out, to make sure we all knew who the Italian’s were, and difs between cruisers and distroyers, tac bomber’s.
Now old news cos when the AA 40 two games came out, we were used to knowing.

However, I have a few questions for you or any others who have put there heart into the game piece’s:

When you get round to your next game, with all your hard work and dedication, does the paint stay on, meaning from hot hands for example, or if dropped on hard floor, clumbseyness happens!
Would you be on edge if you have non caring players who treat the new upgraded hard work like if it was the borring original colour?
Do you store the pieces in the original boxies with no extra padding or bags?
Would you be extra careful and make changes and rules when playing, just to look after all piece’s?

I suppose that is the dedication and risk you have to take.

      3)  Drive through China - biggest waste of time and resources if you ask me.  I say hold the VCs and Manchuria and let the Chinamen have their territories.

Agree Cmd Jen. Let the US take the suffer of the what still is a huge income of the 50 + ipc’s till end of 3rd round, meanwhile do damage in and around australia and build in Manchuria/Korea with Ind complex.

I think playing the Jap’s, you have to think smart and ahead, and to let the allies on by ending your move in the three way option for the allies to think wtf is the japs next move?!

You think building in Korea is better than Manchuria?

    • RE: Japanese strategies for Alpha 2?

      @valtteri771:

Is it really good idea to attack Russia with Japan in alpha 2 my friend once tried it and it didnt go pretty well

Like everything, it’s a catch 22. In my last game, I played Japan and putting a minor Indu Complex in Manchuria worked for me, on J1 so on J2 I could start building tanks to support for the 18 infrt attack on USSR. I included all my planes in that space too from mainlad Japan.
J1 also, I moved from main SZ around mainland Japan, all my two loaded AC to meet up with the other fleet in Carolina Islands, along with 2 loaded transporters with two infrt, tank and arti gun, J2 I placed that huge fleet around Fiji Islands ( not attacking UK Island ).

This confused the US player as I was two steps from attacking Sydney, or Hawii. My intentions was to go with all the support of the Ja navy fleet on J3 to wrap around South America to move to help Italians in Med and on land attacks. The game unfortunatly didn’t get any further.

I however did demolish the 18 infrt in USSR’s east coast J3.

    • RE: Japan/USA neutrals

So it’s like saying the US can only be used for US ppl, and that’s that because they simply didn’t want to be in this war. Anyother nation flying in and land as a stop over can’t do that till the US is at War.

Why I ask this, is because I wanted to play Japan by standing back on Europe boarders with air units, and it would have to stop either in Russia ( westbound ) or USA ( Eastbound ) on the way. It would be of course upto either one if they wanted to attack Japan on the next turn, or just ignore the Jap’s air units.

    • Japan/USA neutrals

      Hi forumies…

I have a question to ask that I can’t find the answer to.

With Japan and US being neutral at the start of the game, can these two nations enter land on each others teritories without an act of war?

I know that they can pass eachother in a SZ, stop and nothing happens, so why can’t it be the same for land?

      Thanks!

    • China start with 6 extra ipc…?

On page 9 about China, it does say that China gets an extra 6ipc’s if the Burma Road when controlled by the allies… understand.

However, in the NO on page 21, it says _Gain 6 IPC’s each round if the Burma Road is totaly open, the allies must control India, Yunnan, Burma and Szechwan for this to occure_

So which is it is the question here.

      1. Does China get the 6 ipc’s if the Burma Rd is open occupied by the Allies

      or

      1. IF playing NO’s rules, China gets the 6 extra ipc’s…?

    • Boat retreating

      Hi players,

Just making sure this is a correct rule in the game on pg 17 opp diagram…Can Boats retreat in a battle after a round…? Is this a new rule for AAP40, or has it always been the case in the AA series?

I know it says in black and white, but can’t remember boats doing that in previous AA games, only on land.

Yes Butcher ( you are also correct )

Krieghund is correct here, and it has been an argumant I have found in another Axis and Allies form on Axis and Allies Revised Edition just nearly two years ago, to try to compare the same question on AA guns. It’s an interesting 5 page discussion and Krieg ( if you remember this far back ) put’s the record stright on the 4th page. Here is the link to save you all searching for it! http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=10974.0
