      What I like to do with Cherbourg is to have the units in the area defend off the invasion for as long as possible and even pull back the units that i have left into the city.  For reinforcments I dont bother sending up much because of the air cover and also teh long treck that the units would have to go.  On avarage I might send up 3-4 tanks if im doing well on the other fronts and a handfull of Inf.  But when things get sketchy down south I cut off all the units that would be headed that way.  As said before its like  a distraction for the allies to help burn time, and maby even weaken the allies.

      ?

      I guess cell phones in inapprobiate (sp?) places is the only thing that could bring me to supporting the death sentence…
      I go more than an hour by train to work (and back), and i usually take the one wagon/cabin (?) that should be “cell phone free”… that’s then about 5-8 calls going in in that time… argh… and when i choose the “repeater equipped to support cell phones” cabin … it’s less… Seems like learning to read is extremely hard… sigh

      @M-4:

      ive got a friend who lived on his calc. he’s programmed a casino program with black-jack, roulette, and a pointless version of Russian roulette. all you do is hit enter repeatedly until a random integer coding picks #1 (choosing 1-6). then a pic comes up of a russian solder bloswing his head off. its pretty funny and fun to pass around a group.

      he even spent 2 months in junior year working out a text-based version of RISK. every country was listed and assigned a #. he actually managed to write in a decent AI. it was awsome. took a million years to play though, i dont think he’s finished a game yet.

      Ha, I could do that easily. (except the Russian soldier and the RISK)

      The only places that I can think of that are probably worse to live in than the former USSR are most of Africa and the Arab countries.

      Well I’m sure Advance Squad Leader can’t be that take (esp. since there are those who actually play it)… besides, I bet it nowhere near as bad as Campaign for North Africa.

      I have played a lot of A&AP and I’m normally the good ole USA. 5 Bombers is a great U1 purchase. Battleships in my opinion cost too much and you don’t have time to use them. Aircraft Carrier, 2 Fighters, Destroyer, and a sub on U2 and U3. To keep Japan from VP win you have to SBR Japan and Big Boats don’t help you there. Once you take land in range of SBR you don’t need boats but always good to have a couple subs to sub stall. I’ll be playing 3 games tomorrow and I bet I have played 40+ games of this version.

      I would like to agree with the field marshall vs. yanny. you really don’t need to tear away massive resources from the atlantic to save the russian’s backside. just by diverting some of their troops north in T2, you buy yourself at least one turn, even more if you can get some aircraft against those unprotected transports - i’m liking the idea of not engaging the us fleet.
      I’m also liking the idea of attacking to destroy infantry to fore stall attacks. I’ll experiment with that… esp. with my german fighters vs. UK navy in T1, just blow the transports and leave the B.S. but I’m still convinced that no russian attack anywhere can keep germany out of moscow. I agree with the drunken liar.
      there are 9 inf in three countries boardering karelia, if you take a mere 8 casualties, then only 12 men stand between my 7 tanks and moscow? 12 at 33% or 7 at 50% hmmmm. I don’t know, and that’s i think assuming the germans defend poorly. but I really do like the infantry killing idea, very progressive…
