I don’t think JFK was anything special; if you really look at what he did and planned, it was not that impressive. I consider him one of the most over-rated presidents. I think Eisenhower did a good job, and Clinton wasn’t too bad. If you ignore the scandals and look at his politics (unfortunately they are often confused), they were quite sound. I’m not a fan of Bush, and I believe LBJ did a rather terrible job; what sort of president would demand that sort of control over the military? If we’re going to have presidents running wars instead of generals, we should be certain they’re better qualified first.

try Multiman Publishing They created ASL and many other great looking games (haven’t tried any others yet).

RE: Advanced Squad Leaderposted in General Discussion
ASL is a hex based WWII tactical warfare game. Players get to control squads through various scenarios, or make up their own (historical or not). Of course it’s infinately more complex than that.
The more rules I know the better, eh? I’ll just have to learn the rules as thoroughly as I know A&A’s then  -
RE: Never postedposted in General Discussion
sorry, this was started by me. If you sort the list by how many posts people have, then you just go to where the people with 0 posts start, then you figure there are 50 (of something) people per page.

RE: The true AA gun rules revealed!posted in Axis & Allies Classic
I believe the attacker still gets to choose his loses in what you refer to as fly overs. I interpret the rules as both sorts of battles being rolled the same. The AA gun fires on the planes, the casualties are removed, and the planes either fly to the next territory or stay and conduct an assualt on the land units (excluding the gun, AA cannot be destroyed).

Advanced Squad Leaderposted in General Discussion
I just picked up my copy of the basic rules today (nearly 200 pages!) and it looks quite awesome. I was wondering if anyone else has ever played.

I believe that Xi confused the defense and amphib assualt values for destroyers. They defend at 3 or less and their one shot support attck is at 2 or less.

we usually play till someone says, hey this isn’t very cool or fun anymore. Sometimes my group expresses the desire to finish a game out, since it so rarely happens.

RE: Will the U.S. and China eventually come into conflict?posted in General Discussion
I think the US and China can easily slip into a conflict, although it will likely be on a small scale; like during the cold war when the powerful western nations would battle the powerful communist ones through support in relatively tiny conflicts like Korea. I think a revolution in Manchuria or an invasion of Taiwan could do the trick (although American policy towards Taiwan is weird).

I agree with you Yanny, petrolium is not the answer. Besides, with all the Urianium found in the Canadian shield Canada’s economy will benifit greatly. I don’t think all the giant petro-chemical companies would allow the govenment to outlaw the manufacture of internal combustion powered vehicals. It is unfortuante that we live in a society so completely dominated by huge capitalist corperations.

I attack Manchuria on my first turn, but retreat before I take it. I see it as buying a little more time by reducing their initial forces.

The US could care less if the UN existed or not.
THANK YOU YANNY! I am tired of a bunch of 3rd world mobsters condeming American and Israeli actions as they try to take my 2nd amendment rights.
We should all be thankful that the U.N. has no real power. The day they get real power is the day the 3rd world dictators have mor power than us.
I don’t think I’ll comment on this; I can’t change conservative’s minds, they are beyond my help. And we all know what that means: Yes! the world is doomed!

RE: Axis strategy if Japan falls to USposted in Axis & Allies Classic
In regard to your question, the Japanese territories cannot be taken (or given) to the Germans. They just sort of sit there with no income being drawn from them untill the Allies take them; of course, after the Allies take them the Germans can gain control of these territories.

RE: 'God', the Facistposted in General Discussion
“If you were a whino on the street and a billionare came and gave you money, gave you a house, a job, food and everything you needed in order to survive, would you not thank him and praise him?”
If I were a whino on the street I wouldn’t take a job, house, or money from a billionare just becuase he pitied me (at least I’d like to think so), so I render your example moot. Also, you state the reason for your worship as being that God created you and is therefor worthy of praise; I don’t think that’s right. I think there should be mutual respect, but not an acknowlegment that one being is better than another (this is assuming that God exists). So what if God can create people or the universe, he still deserve to be treated equally. I wouldn’t want anyone to worship me if I suddenly acquired god-like powers, even if I did create them for some reason. Maybe I carry the ideal of democracy too far, but it’s what I believe.

RE: British convoysposted in Axis & Allies Pacific
Whenever the British player collects his income he will get 12 IPCs from his convoys (if he controls all of them) as soon as this is collected it must be given to or split between Australia and India. These 12 IPCs are also given at the begining of the game with the starting income at which point the British player must dispurse the money between the two powers as he sees fit.
