    • RE: Ever wanted to hold an office?

Ah, a fellow member of the national forensics league, excellent. My aff case is on children’s mh, I really need to work on it though, after reading some things by Weist I realize that there are so many holes in my case.

Yanny, I don’t know if you have ever tried an extra-curricular activity called forensics but there is an event called congress; and I assure you, unless you really like hour long debates over bills you know are going to fail anyway congress is not that much fun.

    • RE: To Everyone - HELP with instructions

Indeed, I thought the rules to be rather simple and easy to read. If you think A&A is hard to follow try reading Advanced Squad Leader rules sometime.

    • RE: Kamikaze

I know that, but it seems rather pointless to use other planes to designate kamikazes unless he’s doing otherwise.

    • RE: Bombs Away For Axis Victory

I ratehr like strat bombing the British whenever I don’t have a better naval target for my bomber. It tends to prevent the nasty buildup of things like transports and aircraft carriers, especially if I’ve taken Africa.

    • RE: Kamikaze

Do you specificly buy kamikazes, or you you just substitute the black planes for any plane that you designate as a kamikaze? Seems sort of pointless since they’re designated as such right before they are used.

    • RE: Music

I enjoy a wide range of music and especially rock. Granted a lot, especially new, is not so great, but I like such bands as Led Zep, Nirvana, System of a Down, Pink Floyd, Soundgarden, and how could I forget the Arrogant Worms? I also enjoy Rachmoninov and several other composers, mostly from the 20th century.

    • RE: Europe or Pacific?

I recomend Europe first, not becuase I like it more, but because it introduces many of the new things about the games and isn’t too terribly overwhelming about it. Not only that, but it is a little easier to handle land battles (of which there are plenty of in Europe) than the complex naval manuvering that is nesiccary in Pacific.

    • RE: Do you like the normal Axis&Allies or the EUROPE/PACIFIC

I do believe that planes that have a carrier shot out from under them get one movement point for immediate use (during Germanies non-combat move in this case).

    • RE: Axis Caucaus Push Strategy.

Doesn’t sound like a bad strat, but what are you doing for the Allied navies? With all your air force in eastern europe the Western Allies can build up quickly. Also, as Russia, I never really considered Germany taking Caucasus a very significant threat. If the Germans do manage to take it (I assume you mean about turn 3) the Russians have a few nice armies ranging in size upwards of 20 infantry, plus whatever offensive support they can muster, the Russians can keep the Germans from attacking by strafing them, keeping their front lines just thin enough to never win an offensive with.

    • RE: What is your favorite book and why?

I’m a big fan of Dune and the entire series, even though Dune was by far the best. I’ve been meaning to read Solaris by Stanislav Lem, but I need to find a copy of it first.

    • RE: Convoy Routes

Certainly. You’ve probably noticed that all the convoy routes have coresponding land territory bording it. This means that in order to collect income from that territory one must control both the territory and and the convoy route. For example: By gaining control of the seazone surounding the Philipeans the Japanese can cut off the islands from the US. This means that the US will not collect any income from the Philipeans while Japan retains control of the convoy route. This does not, however, mean that Japan will collect that income yet; in order for that to happen the islands and the convoy route must be controled. I hope that cleared it up; convoy routes can add a whole other dimension to the game if played correctly.

    • RE: A&AP industrial complex question

All original industrial complexes (ICs) have unlimited production, that includes Hawaii. The US has the option of placing an IC on any territory it has owned since the begining of it’s turn.

    • RE: Kamikaze

There are a total of 6 kamikazes for use throughout the entire game as indicated on the kamikaze track on the National Production Chart. Every time one is used the marker is moved down one. This represents the limited availablity of Kamikaze pilots in the Japanese airforce, along with their limited deployment to 6 sea zones.

    • RE: How much do you people actully know about marxism?

Yanny, I wonder if you might explain how this all knowing, all powerful invisible hand of the market works. How do we know that an economy can maintain itself with no consious effort on our part? This invisible hand you describe has never really existed, there has always been someone deciding how to manage an economy, it has never been allowed to fall under the control of the hand. I’m even tempted to say the invisible hand is nonexistant and the entire idea is completely ridiculous. Would you like to risk the utter ruin of your nation on a farscical theory that probably doesn’t work? I’d much rather go with a planned economy myself. I never understood is why demand could not be used, not as part of setting price, but as the dictating factor of supply. Marxism does not depend on a small (relatively) group of people dictating how many toasters will be produced, but on a much broader decision making process. Capitalists today seem to know how much to produce in order to maintain an acceptable price (usually), but Communists in the future would not know how much to produce in order to produce enough? Don’t be ridiculous.

    • RE: Chechnya

Whenever a new nation has attempted to carve itself from a previously established one there has been war (exception: commonwealth nations). Just look at the American Revolution, Americans see it as justified, or the Civil War, which somehow most think the South was wrong in insigating. Should I be able to declare myself and everything within a 2 mile radius of myself the state of Geofstonia? I am, after all, an oppresed minority (being completely unlike anyone else in my opinion) under the current system of rule. Granted, a rather extreme example, but this situation is only slightly less absurd.

    • Chechnya

I believe that Chechnya would be better off remaining a part of the Russian Federation. Not only would Chechnya be much more stable, it would benefit from being a part of one of the most powerful nations on earth. Just take a look at Chechnya’s attempts at ruling itself in the past decade, it hasn’t worked very well at all, and has only led to more destablization of the region. I think the average Chechen would be better off in the Federation.
