    • RE: The Ring

Army of Darkness kicks deadite a$$. Although, I did prefer Evil Dead 2 just a little bit over Army of Darkness. The scene with the talking stuffed elk head just gets me every time.

Like I said, only saw the first 15 minutes. It just didn’t hook me like a lot of worse horror movies do.

All through the scenes where Neo and co. were searching for the keymaker I kept wanting them to say, I am the gate keeper, are you the key master? I think that would have made it 10x better just on its own.

    • RE: Strafing???

What most people call strafing, I often refer to as hit-and-fade tactics. Like laststrike I usually do this just to kill off some enemy infantry so that a) he won’t attack, or b) if he does attack he’ll make less of an impact. I find it really effective if you have a lot of infantry and a few supporting units (tanks, fighters, ect.) and the enemy is a little weaker than you. In a situation like that, you wouldn’t want to take the territory you’re attacking (the enemy counter attack would probably wipe you out) so by doing a hit-and-fade attack you can prevent him from attacking you on subsequent turns.

    • RE: The Ring

I saw the first 15 minutes of the Ring once. Maybe it was the fact that it was broad daylight outside or that the picture was fading in and out because I had it hooked up through my VCR, but it seemed rather absurd and predicatable to me. That, and the acting (from what I saw of it) didn’t seem too wonderful. Of course, I only saw the first 15 minutes.

I can’t believe the Ducks got to were they are in the first place. I say the Devils will beat them in 5 or 6 games at the most.

    • RE: The Matrix: Reloaded

No, I meant redeeming. The redeeming thing in my mind was how Neo didn’t decide like the other Ones did, thereby breaking the cycle of fate, to some degree; although his decision was still pre-determined.
While the concept of Neo being the savior of mankind makes him subject to a heightened status I don’t think he deserves the god-like praise that he recieves (and he seems to recieve gladly). I see him more like a hero than a god; he’s got something special, but he’s not better than the rest of the citizens of Zion. As for there being two Matrices, that would explain the powers that Neo uses at the end, but it still doesn’t elivate him to being a god by any means. Just the concept of praising a man as a god (especially Keanu Reeves) just doesn’t seem right to me.

    • RE: Best units to attack

I never bother to calculate odds during a game, I like to keep my game smooth and the rounds fairly quick. I’m not sure about the statistics, but it seems to me that when I buy about even stacks of infantry and artillery (any extra cash going towards infantry) about every other round, creating hard hitting forces that outnumber the russians defenders. On the even round I like to build 5 or 6 tanks with infantry to catch up to the infantry and artillery from the previous turn. This provides me with a very tough offensive force with plenty of defensive power for holding territories. I don’t know if this stands up to more advanced strats, but it seems to work well for me, if I make the right opening moves; but then again, everything depends on the opening moves.

    • RE: The Matrix: Reloaded

I friend of mine swears it’s the best movie he’s ever seen, I think he’s just a victim of the hype. I thought it was a decent movie, especially the action. The story left something to be desired and some of the dialog simply sucked. The action is definately worth the movie though, and it introduced some interesting concepts. Of course, in order to top the first movie it would have had to have blown my mind completely, which it was far from doing. The entire fate concept that was present only served to piss me off, so the ending was a little bit redeaming. Another thing that I really couldn’t understand was how Neo could just accept that he’s basicly a god to many of the people of Zion. In the first movie you sort of get the idea that he’s really reluctant to be the One, and now he seems fine with “blessing” people and things. Maybe I just think of Neo’s powers as strictly deligated to being within the Matrix (later proved wrong) so it just didn’t seem right to me that he would be considered god-like outside the Matrix. Anyway, a good flik, but not as good as the original.

    • RE: Spiderman vs. Daredevil

      Indeed, Unbreakable is extremely good.

I’m kind of a Toxic Avenger fan myself. The first superhero from New Jersey. Toxi used to be a 98 pound weakling who was ridiculed, beat up, and other bad stuff, untill one day he fell into a barrel of toxic waste; it mutated him into a giant, superhumanly strong monster. He leads the other super heros of Tromaville, Sgt. Kabookiman NYPD, Dolphin Man, Vibrator, Masturbator, and Mad Cowboy. The only question is, can Troma make a movie that’s so bad I can’t even watch it.

    • RE: Help on kicking out germans

Keep your remaining troops fairly concentrated so you can absorb any attacks that the Germans might throw at you. Only attack if a very tempting opportunity presents itself and if you do capture the territory you won’t be left in an uncomprimising position. Never assume that you’re not going to take a territory when you attack it, it has been my undoing many times. That’s about all the advise I can give, if it helps.

    • RE: Introspective on Morality

I think a more important question would be, is there a universal morality? I’ll buy that everyone has morals, but is there one morality in common with the entire human race? And if there isn’t then how can we justify organizations like the UN? The subject of universal morality is, I think, one of the most difficult questions I’ve ever come across. Can I really remove my view point far enough from my own morals to see if another, contrasting set of morals could possibly ever be considered right? It’s a difficult question, and I wonder what you have to say about it.

    • RE: Naval Base Question

The rules state that your ships can move from a sea zone with a naval base to another sea zone with one up to 3 spaces. Therefore, I assume that the naval base rules apply only to the sea zone that the naval base is in, and not all the sea zones that are adjacent to the territory that the naval base appears to be in. I suppose that this only really applies to Malaya, though.

I do believe they faced each other in a brief encounter at least once and it was a bit of a draw, if I remember correctly. Just to cite a historical example of what it seems Stan Lee, their creator, seems to think their matchup would be like.

    • RE: Get rid of Columbus day!

But it was Columbus that “opened” the Americas to europeans, which I consider a fairly significant event. He may not have been the first, but I dare say the most important to our history. Without Columbus the United States would likely not exist. Although it is wrong to glorify him, what he did is historicaly significant. Since we all know what Columbus did to the native populations I don’t think that we are in danger of over glorifying his achievements, however. I remember a whole bunch of really crappy anti-Columbus Day bills from congress last season (unfortunately I did not qualify for nationals) and they were all soundly defeated, if that’s any indication of national sentiment.

    • RE: Please help with rule - Capital Liberated

I’d say your copy of the program is completely jacked. First of all, an ally cannot take control of a friendly nations capital. If said nations capital is occupied by enemy forces then the ally can take control of territories that were formerly that nation’s, but once the capital is liberated then that country is back in the game. Under no circumstances can a friendly nation take control of an ally’s capital. In the situation you are refering to the British would lose no money becuase Japan retook Moscow.
