      @Booper Yeah I think I’ll call a forfeit, and we could swap sides soon, perhaps after my other game finishes, I’m quite busy as of late. I wonder how much of a difference it would have made if instead of attack your fleet with all my German airforce if I flew them to the middle east to support Italy instead. I chose the fleet to set you back but it probably did the opposite and it forced me to withdraw Italy and allowed you to make Persia untakeable.

      Right, I was not a believer in leaving Normandy French, until it was forced upon me due to an extremely poor G1 round. Definitely helps Germany defend the Atlantic assault.

      Had not looked at your re-balance before, but looks interesting. I’m not too experienced playing BM, but that would certainly give Germany a strong incentive to do Vichy or at least take it for the early income.

      Thank you for the game! You played very well, and kept it competitive throughout. Even at the end, I was concerned about a blunder on the Europe a side, so just played conservatively and turtled up in Berlin.

      A few thoughts from my side:

      Not taking the Philippines on J1 was more due to my inexperience playing Axis, and wanting more margin on the other battles. Probably I would not do it again that way.

      Agree the Persia (and Iraq) factories could have been helpful earlier on. Either to supply Moscow with fighters or to help bolster India.

      Surprising how the blundering of 2 transports is really felt later in the game. I made a similar blunder in a recent game, and I also felt it turned out to be a pivotal mistake that led to me losing that game. You had Italy in a lot of financial distress due to the sub convoying.

      I was not surprised you went for Tokyo, but I was surprised you went for it after not taking Korea with Russia so you could bring in the extra bomber. I adjusted my Japan fleet movement to go to Philippines assuming you would NOT go for it with odds I believe ever so slightly in my favor. Once you committed, I think it would have been worthwhile for you to go all the way. If you could not take it with US, Anzac would have a follow up attempt as well. The loss of income to Japan would have been felt, and could have been interesting to see what Anzac would do with 60+ extra income!

      I do feel this was a mistake made on my part by (a) not taking Guam much earlier, and (b) getting too greedy trying to deny China access to artillery by holding Yunnan with help from Japanese planes. If I had left the planes on FIC with the airbase, just flying back a few fighters to Tokyo would have made the threat there manageable. You picked the exact right time to strike!

      Once you took Rome, it became a strong base of operations for UK and US. I’ve usually gone north to break into Europe with the Allies, but taking Rome was very effective, especially with the bomber fleet.

      It’s possible you may have been able to defend India if you were less aggressive attacking Germany/Italy. I never ran the scenario, but landing the Russian planes, all the British planes that were in Rome, and the US bombers could have enabled India to survive at least a couple extra turns, though not positive on that.

      @Booper Sorry it went down like that. Lord knows I have had plenty of games just fall apart on me. My Japan was an example of that just happens you took it worse off than me. Appreciate the play look forward to future play.

      Nope, that’s the one. Dawg was a 75% favorite to win that battle. With the complete blank on the first round, things really started poorly. He only hits 2 in the 2nd round. What really hurts is that 3rd round, where Germany hits 5/6, to take out Russia’s entire air force. Germany wins that one, losing only 3 mechs. Russia scores only 3 hits the entire 3 rounds, despite having 5 @3 and 1 @4 for much of that battle.

      Yeah, the bomber run on US1 really surprised me. I thought there was a problem in the game file, as UK only had to deal with 2 subs, until I went back and looked at the finer details!

      Dawg had some bad luck with AA fire. I’m in a current game, and think I’ve been subjected to ~15 bombing runs against me, and 0 AA hits!

      Thank you Mike, enjoyed the game - I think it would have taken several more turns to be decisive, as USA still had a lot of firepower, but with Axis gaining the income advantage, it may have been just a matter of time. I had never played against Gibastion or KJF before, so was cool to see the strats in action.

      Agreed, need and want are different. From what I gather, they only waited about 3 years between 1942.1 and 1942.2.

      It’s nice to not have to house rule too much - even using a bid implies some additional play testing would have been beneficial. But to be able to discuss strategies here, etc, requires us to have the same rules. :)

      Maybe another option could be playing Attack! or Attack! Deluxe with them first, it’s similar to Axis & Allies but not so complex.
