      Agree, this is the jumping in point for new online players, so adhering to the standard rules as much as reasonably possible to make a “fair” game will make the transition easier. Plus the tactics will translate directly to improve over the board play. I think the current bid mechanics do that well.

      BM and PTV are the variants to explore rule changes, and more dramatic map/rule changes respectively.

      By posting here, I think @axis-domination DID resign the game - did I miss something? Most people post something like “so-and-so wins, will played”, but it seems in the heat of the moment this did not occur. :)

      BTW, here are the entire dice stats. The TOTAL dice rolls look entire fair. However the distribution for Axis rolls is skewed slightly lower, and Allies slightly higher. What can you do - it’s a random number generator, given enough rolls it will start to look fair for each power, but will vary slightly with low sample size.

      I suspect there is a lot of game play/strategy differences that come into play for someone to win as Axis against a ~60 Allies bid.

      Maybe the best way to balance is to play 2 games, flipping sides with the same bid. Of course, dice luck can also come into play, so not a perfect measure.

      After the disastrous G1, against someone of Farmboy’s caliber, my thinking was this game was effectively over. I think overall France was at +7 hits after turn 2, which was ridiculous.

      I went full “risk on” for J1, as I had nothing to lose at that point. Got lucky on several key coin flips (mainly attacking the Anzac DD and Transport), so the game continued on!

      German was severely hampered though, having lost all art and mechs in France. I think the “avg” outcome is to lose 7 infantry with an all ground attack.

      I believe it is resolved as ABH did official resign in the Results section.

      Tough situation, but agree with what AD mentioned, that in this case explicit casualty selection is required. When it’s “obvious”, OOL like “max defense” make sense, but this was far from the case here.

      Applaud both players in reacting in good sportsmanship in the aftermath.
