      I hated the way transports worked in 2nd edition.  Most fleets were a bunch of transports with only a couple of carriers with planes and maybe a battleship.  The introduction of cruisers, destroyers, and multi hit capital ships makes a lot more sense.

      You keep talking about how everything has risk, well you took the risk of sending an undefended transport.

      Yes, those battleships or other fighting ships better not just watch the transports get creamed when they could defend them.  What kind of heartless captain would let practically defenseless ships get slaughtered nearby?

      An Axis victory!  Germany took London with 5 tanks and no air losses.  Russia almost got out of control but the plunder from London allowed me to be pushing back and taking novograd on G5.  The US couldn’t get enough fleet to retake London without losing it again next turn.  Japan was bogging down in China again but Anzac and Hawaii were going to fall in another turn.

      After Russia failed in a big counterattack he conceded.  Thanks for the help zhukov, I feel a lot more confident on what to watch out for with the axis.  I’m still not very confident with japan or see how Italy can be kept from being neutered.  I think my next go as the Axis I’ll play a fortress Europe and try for a Pacific victory.

      Exactly my thinking as well Zhukov, if Japan can continue to work china and not give free entry to the US I think I can take London and hold it.  Any thoughts on possible things to do with italy?  I’m thinking greece next turn followed by egypt?

      I could grab gibraltar and flee the german fleet into the med instead of sealion.  Just go ahead and Barbarossa?  I leaning to sealion since it would seem a sure bet with the way the UK played.

      I played it safe with japan and just assaulted china and setup for a J2.  UK attacked in the med but didid not hit italy’s fleet, they attacked tobruk with heavy losses.   Usa setup to be viable in either theatre.

      With italy I destroyed the UK fleet and landed in tobruk, lost the dd and sub plus a plane that I had bought leaving me a tipped bb and 2 ca’s.  Was having a hard time deciding what to lose therw but hopefully I did enough to keep the italian transports alive.  I really need them to be able to take advantage of the weak egypt.

      For G2 I could declare on USSR, he pulled back leaving the first 3 territories exposed.  The thing is this though:  UK bought no troops for the capitol.  I’m going to post the triplea save in a sec to grt everyone’s thoughts.  But just off what I am seeing I think I need to sack UK.

      –Edit–

      Here is the game file if anyone wants to look at it.  UK has the 3 figs and the starting inf and aaguns on the capitol.  Since it has not been reinforced yet do I need to go with 10 tts?

      haven’t taken J1 yet, trying to learn if declaring would mess up G2 or not.  Is knocking Calcutta out any easier with a J1 DOW?  If not perhaps J2 would be safer for me to pursue.  Thanks for tge analysis zhukov!

      Am I missing something big or did v2 change the rules about mech infantry.  How are you attacking southern france with them if no armors are helping you to move the 2 instead of 1?

      My first attempt at it was a success.  My oppenent did counter by all out attacking WR but I was able to retake it back.  So much UK equipment left untouched due to his all out attack on WR that the Med was easily cleared with the UK.  With USA and UK threatening landings in Western Europe from turn 2 onwards, Germany had to quickly turtle, Japan couldn’t get its fighters in place quickly enough to make a difference.

      I really liked using a different opening from my normal, was a lot of fun!  Fastest win I’ve had with the allies to date.  Looking forward to playing the axis against the strategy.

      Sorry for the thread necromancy but I am very interested in spicing things up with my usual axis and allies opponent and giving the Norweigan Gambit a try.

      Since this was discussed have any solid conclusions been drawn?  If R1 is a two fighter attack with all the available infantry and the arm, what other attacks are being used?  How is Caucasus protected?

      how much did you spend?  I plan on printing a couple maps and need to get my costs figured out.

      Going to print a large 1942 map and a large aa50 map, which when i buy FMGs italy set will let me play either game on an easy to use board.

      Keep your spirits up FMG, by keeping some people “in the loop” you’ve just allowed some to get too excited.  They obviously have no idea of the scale of this project.

      Hopefully I’ll be putting in my pre-order shortly.  Need to find a way to print up a larger map for aniversary and revised.  Anyone have any suggestions on how to do it?

      Yes I agree. How hard is it to paint your pieces?

      I have never had much luck painting plastic parts.  The paint actually seems to fill in the details and turn the units into rounded blob.

      Yes, I could try to thin the paint, but I don’t want to have to try to figure this out.

      Thinning the paint is as simple as adding some water.  Nothing tricky.

      But what happens when the OOB colors change again? Will FMG have to keep changing the dice colors to keep up? It is my opinion that FMG should keep their pieces matched to their dice. Screw whatever the idiots at Wizards come up with next.

      Are they just making sets for the seven Anniversary nations. Or will they do Anzac and France to.

      They are planning on Anzac and France as well, though after the stated nations are released.  And if all goes well, I believe FMG is also planning a couple more surprises (Tech. units? Neutrals? etc.).

      I think a lot of tech units are already included in the sets offered.  Officers could be elite or marine units, late war fighters for LRA, mech inf for you guessed it mech inf, etc…

      I’d rather that FMG concentrate on getting the 6 main countries done before we even start asking for more.

      I can’t wait to play AA50 with a printed out map using the Italy FMG will release and the pieces from A&A1942

      Well, that’s what they’re planning, yes.  To release the main nations, and then follow up with specials.  But no… the main sets do not cover the tech. units, and I’d personally like to see tech. units released as a separate set (and I might be mistaken… but I don’t think I’m alone on that).  Officers for elite or marine units? No way…

      For me the specials aren’t even worth discussing now.  I doubt that FMG will be able to find enough demand to attempt to create sprue’s of just tech units.

      3 Task Force Markers (Like Pacific)

      In essence all that is missing for tech specific models are jets and super subs?

      Good luck paying for these when the demand is so low the sets cost 300 each.

      FMG, keep up the great work and please don’t let any ridiculous requests mess this up!
