      Amazon says the release date was July 1st. It’s eligible for prime shipping. Interestingly enough a 3rd party is also selling the game and there ad says its still on preorder.

      I think DJ’s literally trying to kill us with anticipation.

      But on a more serious note, thanks for the update. We appreciate it.

      Typically my orders have come in 2-3 days after the release date. I have found coolStuffinc to be quite professional and prompt in my email enquiries. There prices are very comeditive; usually the cheapest or near cheapest online for boardgames.  Shipping can be a bit much so I try to bundle my orders so I buy $100 worth of merchandise at a time (to take advantage of the free shipping.) Of course if you live in Florida you could always pick it up for free from their store.

      I already have mine preordered From coolStuffinc and canceling that item would mess with my free shipping. Sadly I’ll have to wait.

      I don’t understand why that guy in Omaha found one in his local game store 3 days before the June 19 release date yet no one else has even seen it (except for djensen of course).

      Guy in Omaha here. I am not sure why it was on the shelf either because previously I saw that the release date was to be the 17th and I saw it on the 15th. I am going down there again tonight so I will check and see if it still there. They had 2 or 3 copies on the shelf.

      Went to FLGS last night and they had 3 copies of 1941 on their shelf.

      And you didn’t buy?!

      …sounds unlikely.

      I didn’t buy because I don’t have an interest in getting this one. I will link you the website address and you can call them and ask them if they have it in stock.

      Well I stand corrected. Please accept my public apology. The store claims to still have one copy in stock. http://www.thegameshoppe.com/

      @djensen:

      So I’m going to have to space things out. I’ll finish up the 1941 previews first:

      • Time lapse video
      • Game play recap/review

      I think what I can do with regard to the pieces comparison is to line up 1941, 1942 2nd Edition, and 1940 next to each other.

      Sounds like a great plan. Looking forward to it.

    • RE: French Set…need help to finalize set.

      @knp7765:

      What I’m afraid of after seeing pics of 1941 is that when they reprint Europe 1940 they will do the same thing…all Allies get the same sculpts and all Axis get the same sculpts. So France will get HMS Hood battleships and IS-2 tanks while Italy gets Kongo battleships and Tiger tanks.

      I doubt that will happen. I believe global will remain a delux version. Actually I expect that global will get the new sculpts introduced in 41 and 42 but only for the appropriate countries. Ie I expect to see Russian but not British IS-2s. I also expect there will be a FEW new sculpts. (likely Italian)

    • RE: Next Nation to sculpt at HBG

      @Yavid:

      can i make a suggestion for the future?

      Now you can take this with a gain of salt if you like but don’t give a release date until you’re 95% you’ll make the date. It’s frusrating as a customer to hear about delays and it must be frustrating on your end to hear the same question of when when when all the time. Speak in vague statements like mid-summer, early next year, in time for X-mas. Once you get to a point your sure you can make a date, set the date and do an announcement. Telling us every peice that will be in the set, all the colors it will be done it and the date it will be availible. Until the annoucement stick to the “We are working on a French set it, It should be out early winter in time for x-mas. We would like your input on what to include.” It will help generate buzz about the set’s release and as we get closer to the day build antipation. Knowing that there will be no delay.

      Well said.

    • RE: Speculating the differences between 1st and 2nd Edition

      Subs were technically capable of taking down fighters too yet no one complains about them not being able to fire at aircraft.

      A&A is a game of grand strategic scale. And on the grand scale, transports represent absolutely no threat to warships.

      @GoSanchez6:

      I like IL’s idea of the mustard yellow. Almost a yellow brown for Japan.

      I agree. I prefer mustard over neutral yellow. Though my primary concern is multi set color crossovers in order to maximize unit varieties for house rules.

    • RE: Need Help to Finalize HBG Japan Set!

      Forgive my ignorance, is “yellow gold” a different than the “yellow”? I would love it if sometime you made a color chart comparison sheet that list which lists all sets available in certain colors. I have a hard time keeping track of all the color types. Some are quite subtle.

      As for me I am far more likely to buy multiple sets if I know a color is available in multiple sets.

      Thanks for listening.

      @Variable:

      Spoke with Coach for a bit tonight. Looks like we will be doing this set in oob Burnt Orange, Red like the old Pacific game, and Yellow. This way there is flexibility for veteran and Thai units. Does this change anyone’s choices?

      “Yellow” from neutral set? I hope so. The more crossovers with existing set colors the better IMHO.

    • RE: Need Help to Finalize HBG Japan Set!

      I like where these sets are going for the most part. I highly favor matching Japan’s unit classes to the American counterparts. Actually I favor this approach to offer standardized unit classes for all nations. It makes house rules more simplistic.

      Also please include a transport plane. A heavy four engine bomber would be nice too. Though I’m not sure Japan had one. Light, medium, heavy tanks (if possible) and less trucks. One or two should suffice for any nation.

      Also I’m going against the croud on this one: I’m anti zero. Yes it’s iconic but I already have many dozen zeros. Adding another zero sculpt Doesnt help us create a new unit. It actually removes a new unit from the potential set which is counter to HBG’s said objectives.
      Thanks for all your guys work at hbg.

    • RE: AA 1941 or AA Original?

      I wasn’t commenting on tactics, strategy, or total movement. I was simply pointing out that they aren’t “the same”.

      Like you I agree that the game will have a very Classic feel and will likely employ many of the same strategies. However to claim the sea zones are “the same” is grossly inaccurate.

      @Imperious:

      But i am talking about comparing with Milton Bradley 2nd edition, not AA42… :-D

      The sea zones are the same…

      Imperious your statement is, quite frankly, factually inaccurate at best. Some of the land territories are similar, however there are many many changes to the sea zones. Just compare the images below.
