Yes it is an “island” as it only borders 1 territory and that territory is a seazone. So no you can’t build a new complex on it.

RE: Japan is an island?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Japan IS an island according to A&A terminology since its a territory that is completely surrounded by a single sea zone. Japan and United Kingdom are NOT islands according to this definition. Some people claim that there is a contradiction with the complex build rule and Japan since its an island and does have a complex. I. Disagree since the rule prohibits placing newly purchased complexes on islands. Japan’s complex exists from the setup therefore it never violates this rule anyways. It’s not nearly as complex or confusing as people make it. Just don’t place NEW complexes on “islands” as defined by A&A.

RE: WE HAVE BEEN MISLED (Read before buying 40.2)posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I think the motivation for using green chips was to make it appear as though the limited number of chips that are included are sufficient as players typically ran out before. I’m not convinced that even with using the green chips that there are enough chips in the game as of present. Like many of you I have many many extra chips so it’s not a problem for me.
However if I bought the game for my first time I would be rather disappointed. -

@The:
Am I the only one that misses the old huge capital markers that marked the original capitals on the board in the original AA games?
Yes.

RE: Axis and Allies Pacific 1940 2nd Edition ( AAP40.2) FAQ/questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Krieghund,
My 2nd edition Pacific board shows Mexico narrowly adjacent to SZ 11. The border is even more predominate when you flip the board over and view the narrow strip of print on the back.
Is Mexico intended to border SZ 11? -

@Imperious:
Well when you do the UK set, have Canadian and Indian colonial troops to placate a few people.
I’m quite fond of this idea. Personally I’d prefer an Aussie over an Indian. I mean we already have the OOB Far East British infantry in shorts and the new AAP40.2 ANZAC infantry is freakishly big compared to the other nations.

I hate to come across as a complainer, but ANZAC’s infantry is freakishly big. Especially next to china. Wizards has no concept of quality control.

I’m torn on which chips I like better. The most important thing to me is consistency among the A&A line. If there going to change the chips again like they did a few years back, change them all, not just some.

RE: What is the current set up and rules for Global 1940?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
So when playing Global I can simply use the Pacific and Europe set ups? Thanks for responding btw.
Yes with the exceptions noted in the first link.

RE: The Research & Development Ruleposted in House Rules
I prefer simplicity. I prefer to have them operate like minor ICs except their bonus is one research die per turn instead of producing units. (when not damaged). I’m okay with a cap of 1 tech per turn. I’ll pass on the captured technology raid rule. I think having your enemy capture your research facility (and the free roll each turn after that) is reward enough.
Having them operate like minor ICs let’s you build them on 2 iPc territories, which is necessary if someone like Anzac hopes to ever acquire any technology.
Overall it’s a great concept.

RE: Poll: New FAQ thread?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Voted for a new thread… and to have it moderated well so that players can use it as a reference without having to scroll through a bunch of posts about the advantages of a Romanian airbase and arguments about what country has been screwed and needs a bomber.
Agreed. Moderate and abridge it. Perferablly to include only relevant questions and answers. Delete the rest of the clutter.

RE: Reprinting Pacificposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Actually it’s even worse than that if your Canadian considering “Britsh Columbia” and "Yukon Territory merged into “Western Canada”. Of course gameplay is affected little to zilch by this revision.

RE: Preview Copies of 1940 Second Edition Arrivedposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I noticed one change on the Pacific map. 1st Edition “British Columbia” and “Yukon Territory” with Canadian roundels have been merged into 2nd Ed “Western Canada” with a UK roundel. Definitely wont matter in 99.99998% of games but nevertheless it is a change.

RE: New rule proposal for China.posted in House Rules
@Young:
Random addition:
All rules are as is, except add that, China can attack ANY territory containing atleast 1 japanese unit, or that is controlled by Japan, in the Combat Movement Phase.
That gives China the power to snipe transports if necessary, and take over ANYTHING Japanese on the mainland, without allowing them to go through allied territories.
This seems reasonable, I mean we don’t want to totally screw Japan with China, do we?
Simplest and most reasonable compromise on the rule I have seen. Flexibility without a signifant historical compromise. I like this better than oob.

Also, don’t need pics of all the pieces…just the ones that are new from before…same as map ( pics of map changes and connection between maps)
Whatever is different in all respects.

@Imperious:
Is this the same map as global 39? or close?
No. This map is based on the old AAE and AAP. At the time I wanted a way to play both maps seemelessly. AAG40 acomplished the goal of this project, albeit in a slightly different way. Therefore, this map has been mostly forgotten since then.

The question is, will they provide enough chips to play a really long game of global, I have on occasion run out of chips.
No.
