RE: How many poker chips do I need for ipcsposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Do you find that you have sufficient 5s and 10s. In the past my group has used the paper ipcs but I like the idea of being able to see how much money your opponent has from across the room. Hence the poker chip idea.
I find my croup tends to sort there cash into piles based on what you are planning on buying. So if you were planning on buying 4 infantry a tank and a destroyer, most of my group would divide their cash into 3 piles and place their units they plan to buy on top. So the first pile would be 1 10 and 2 ones for the infantry. Second would be a 5 and a one for the tank. Last would be an eight and three ones got the destroyer. As such I find more smaller bills as opposed to lager ones are typically more useful. Generally speaking.
How many extra ones do you find you needed? I don’t think I’ll need a lot of 25s as only a few countries would realistically use given our groups purchasing fetishes. I don’t want to overspend but I also don’t want to have to constantly make change cuz we barely have enough small bills.

How many poker chips do I need for ipcsposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I’ve been looking to add these custom IPC poker chips to spruce up my game, however they are quite expensive.

How many poker chips do I need for global 1940? Will I need more than one set? What is your guys experience?
Thanks in advance.

RE: DIY tuck box insertsposted in Customizations
Those small ICs can’t be bought. I made them by cutting, sanding, and then gluing back together some of the official ICs. Very time consuming so I only made a few.

Houston is a little far to travel for a game but I won’t completely dismiss the possibility.

Extra pieces needed to make this realistically playableposted in Axis & Allies 1914
I recently bought 1914 and I’m planning to introduce to my gaming group, however I know the recent A&A games have been plagued with piece shortages. I severely dislike introducing new games with such obvious component deficiencies as I believe it biases new players against the game from the start. Short of buying a 2nd copy, what quantity of specific pieces for which countries would I need to pick up from the second hand market so that I won’t run out of them in 98% of games?
Example:
Germany
5 infantry
2 tanks
2 fighters
7 control markersBritain
2 tanks
2 fightersUSA
2 transportsEtc.
Thanks

RE: How to adapt the 1941 gamemap, using units from 1942posted in House Rules
On principle I like keeping the rules consistent with other A&A titles. +$5 or +$10 can easily be viewed as National Objectives (occupy your capital). Another alternative to boosting production limits would be to adjust the setup to start with additional complexes. I like the idea of an Italian complex a lot since zero production for a major axis player seems wrong. a complex in e Canada also strikes me as neat (and no I’m not Canadian). Japan needs more production but having one outside Japan itself feels wrong. Plus they can easily build one on turn one anyways so it’s likely not a big deal.
What potential I’ll effects do you foresee by adding a Canadian and Italian complexs (particularly in a tier 2 game)?
Thanks again for the excellent insight.

Thanks for the detailed response. One further question I forgot to ask. When adding the Tier 1 or Tier 2 $5 and $10 bonuses did you find it necessary to boost the unit production limits at Complexes as most nations can’t produce more than 4 or 5 units per turn? If so, please describe.

Black_Elk
Are you using the FAQ setup (with your modifications) or the OOB?
Have you used this setup lately?
If so have you made any recent changes?
How balanced is Tier I?I agree with so many of your points and would like to use this setup but want to make sure I am using your most recent/balanced version.
Thank you.

RE: Preview 4: Movement and Combatposted in Axis & Allies 1914
I know you’ve played a game already. Could you let us know if there were enough chips and pieces? Meaning do you constantly have to make change to prevent running out of one piece or another? Any info/opinion on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I’m really trying to not buy a second copy if at all possible due to budget constraints.

@coachofmany:
what happened to the bi-plane?
Bi-plane and Panzer IV was moved to the Second Axis Minor set.
A good move IMHO.

RE: New minor power (global 1940 2nd)posted in House Rules
I wouldn’t be overly critical of Brazil as a minor considering it is obviously included here for fun and as a historical shout out. I was vaguely aware of Brazils efforts. Thanks for reminding us all. I think I’ll do a bit of reading up on it now.

Thank you so much. Now all we need us a 1939 setup.
Btw I love how you handled Vichy in a simple way for this simplified faster version without completely ignoring it. -
RE: Japan is an island?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
The distinction of Japan being an island was important using 1st edition OOB rules since you could only scramble from islands. Under 2nd edition rules it doesn’t matter at all that Japan is an island as far as I have discovered.
