    • RE: FMG COMBAT UNITS - Rules: COMMANDER

I’m thinking of using commanders in this way:

Commanders are non attacking or defending land units that are taken as the last causality in a land battle exactly like a transport. When present in a battle (either attacking or defending) you may reroll one missed die for each type of unit in the battle that missed. This means that commanders are most useful in battles with mixed forces. For example if each type of land unit was present in an battle the commander would average contribute an additional 1-2 or maybe 3 hits depending on the value of the new units. since a commanders influence could be quite large in a battle they would need to be fairly expensive. I’m thinking 15 ipcs.

Also considering giving Commanders the right to travel with fleets on a capital ship such as Aircraft carriers and battleships. Commanders would work the the same way in a sea battle as in an land battle.

Just thoughts. Whatever the rule ends up being it needs to relate to the commanders actual role in the war. It would be a mistake to make for an example a commander an attacking unit as commanders were not platoon or even divisions. Commanders are planners. I also think a +1 across the board is also a bad idea as it would become over powerful in a large battle. However a +1 to one unit of each unit type would be appropriate and not over powerful.

Take it or leave it. Thanks again FMG for your excellent contributions to the community.

      UPDATE: August 8, 2010
Here is my current version of the AAG40 National Production Chart which also includes National Objectives and Weapon’s Development Charts. Please understand that this is not a final version and changes to the text (which are based on those who have played the game) will most likely change when I finally get a rulebook in hand. This is preview is intended only to be a template for the final version, so don’t freak out if you see something thats not entirely accurate (especially on the weapon’s development chart). This chart will be reviewed, updated, any fixes applied before I post the final high resolution chart. Until then enjoy this low resolution screenshot.
(National Production/National Objectives / Weapons Development Chart has been updated. See above)

      Original Post: August 5, 2010
Many of you have inquired of me as to when I will begin work on my AAE40 and AAG40 aids. Well work has already begun. So far I have completed the Global setup charts for each nation. There is still much to do on this project and I will continue to work on this project as new information becomes available. Hopefully it won’t be too long before the global National advantages and political rules are known. Until then the wait continues…

      Enjoy.

      [Charts updated. See above]

P.S. Once I complete AAG40’s aids, I will create AAE40 Aids. I will likely also create Canada Aids for those who wish to play it as a separate power. Also any of you notice any errors, please let me know so it can be fixed on the final product.

    • RE: DIY tuck box inserts

Here’s mine that I created out of black card stock last year. There much more rigid than using standard paper and still work great. I’m definitely going to be making these for AAE 40 When it comes out. Thanks again ozimek.

    • RE: How many poker chips do I need for ipcs

Do you find that you have sufficient 5s and 10s. In the past my group has used the paper ipcs but I like the idea of being able to see how much money your opponent has from across the room. Hence the poker chip idea.

I find my croup tends to sort there cash into piles based on what you are planning on buying. So if you were planning on buying 4 infantry a tank and a destroyer, most of my group would divide their cash into 3 piles and place their units they plan to buy on top. So the first pile would be 1 10 and 2 ones for the infantry. Second would be a 5 and a one for the tank. Last would be an eight and three ones got the destroyer. As such I find more smaller bills as opposed to lager ones are typically more useful. Generally speaking.

How many extra ones do you find you needed? I don’t think I’ll need a lot of 25s as only a few countries would realistically use given our groups purchasing  fetishes. I don’t want to overspend but I also don’t want to have to constantly make change cuz we barely have enough small bills.

    • How many poker chips do I need for ipcs

I’ve been looking to add these custom IPC poker chips to spruce up my game, however they are quite expensive.

      http://iwillnevergrowup.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=50

How many poker chips do I need for global 1940? Will I need more than one set? What is your guys experience?

      Thanks in advance.

Those small ICs can’t be bought. I made them by cutting, sanding, and then gluing back together some of the official ICs. Very time consuming so I only made a few.

    • Extra pieces needed to make this realistically playable

I recently bought 1914 and I’m planning to introduce to my gaming group, however I know the recent A&A games have been plagued with piece shortages. I severely dislike introducing new games with such obvious component deficiencies as I believe it biases new players against the game from the start. Short of buying a 2nd copy, what quantity of specific pieces for which countries would I need to pick up from the second hand market so that I won’t run out of them in 98% of games?

      Example:
      Germany
      5 infantry
      2 tanks
      2 fighters
      7 control markers

      Britain
      2 tanks
      2 fighters

      USA
      2 transports

      Etc.

      Thanks
