Sorry about your luck. When i got mine 4 years ago, i was dumb struck as i set up the board the first time. The smell of fresh plastic…aahh!
My very first copy (classic)was the one i learned on. I later bought a used copy of classic to supplement the lost/broken pieces from my game. The one i bought was nowhere near mint, but it served the purpose well.
I hope your 2nd ed fills your needs well enough, even if it is a bit damaged.
If its more damage then you were led to believe, you could always contact the seller and work something out. I’ve done this for a few things over the years. Private buyers tend to work with you in good faith. I had to contact my bank and stop a payment to overstock.com once. You have options if you do not receive the product in the advertised condition.
Always look at pics. Ask questions and request more pics if you think you should.

RE: Does a Rules Differences Summary exist?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
Oops. I guess i wasnt paying enough attention. I know what you wrote, but in my mind, i read difference between anniversary and the new edition of anniversary. Forgive my lapse.
On that note…read the new rule book…a lot.
The differences are many. The over all game is the same, but there are nuances between each release. -

My source says m14 in anniversary
Panther euro
M15 in euro 2ed
I myself couldnt tell you. Chinese plastic 2017 is my personal guess. -
RE: Does a Rules Differences Summary exist?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
There are no differences in the rules themselves.
The only differences are in the wording…to provide better clarity and understanding of the rules. -

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
A neutral territory are the single nations and mongolia not controlled by any player
A neutral power is a player who isnt at war with anyone.
In the shan state example…the uk is at war with germany (axis) and japan is at war with china (allies) so they are not neutral because they fight. Even though they arnt fighting each other.
Because they are fighting they arnt neutral. Because they are in different alliances they are hostile land territories. Tada…treat it as hostile. I hope that clears it up.
Not to confuse you. I put land territory for a reason. Uk/japan can still share sea zones until dow. -

I dont disagree. Plastic seemed confused on the definition of neutral. I was trying to break it down for him.

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I dont know. My grammer has never been the greatest. You could be at war with the alliance, but not the power…yet. Say you are germany, beginning of g1. You are at war with the allies. Specifically uk/france. Ussr is a neutral POWER with which you are not at war.
Neutral: a territory that is not controlled by any power ( true neutrals pro neutrals), or a territory that is controlled by a power that belongs to the other alliance, with which you are not yet at war (us/ussr. uk/anzac/france vs japan. Ger/italy vs china.
I hope that helps. -

Risky to respond to me. Ha. You two didnt have a problem being critical of me and my posts. Oh no! The strangers talking weirdness. Check the last few posts you and panther posted on pg 159. No problem being critical there.
Poor plasticattack. What did you guys do to make him pull his hard work? -
RE: Sub warfare out of whack?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I dont think the sub/strait rule has anything to do with balance. I would figure it had to do with K.I.S.S. subs passing thru straits would be one more special rule we would have to remember.
I didnt write the rules, so i dont know. Just my best guess. -
RE: Sub warfare out of whack?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
It is odd that an enemy navy without destroyers cant stop a subs movement but a strait out right blocks it.
-
RE: Sub warfare out of whack?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
It is a typo. There are 2014 edition rule book fixes this and has some language adjustments (on other topics) for less confusion

RE: SSL is coming soonposted in Website/Forum Discussion
From what i saw in another thread, its some type of software and/or server which will be used to host this site

Re: Cleaning up the forum: October 28, 2017
For reasons I won’t go into in detail (until after the change), I need to somewhat urgently migrate this forum to the new software plus SSL. I know I’ve been talking about it for years but now it’s time. The new software will have a better search function and tags, which will allow for a better ontology for finding and discovering stuff

To gamerman
@Gamerman01:@Caesar:
So if Italy and Germany do not trigger Mongolia to join USSR, what happens if Germany controls a boarder USSR territory and Japan during non combat send a land unit into their allies territory?
The rule says “if Japan attacks any Soviet-controlled territory that is adjacent to any Mongolian territory”
Do you need access to a rulebook?
Why post any questions? Its in black and white.
No need to be impolite. There is no loophole here - it’s in black and white and very clear and direct.
P@nther is just awesome.
This project sounds very beneficial, don’t get me wrong, but the purpose of this thread is just to post your rules question and have it answered. It’s not meant to be like a “FAQ” sheet that answers all the questions you may have after reading the rulebook.
The thread has worked perfectly for this purpose. You have a question, you ask it, you get the right answer. If you get the wrong answer, a rules deputy or Krieghund himself comes along within hours, usually, and gets you the correct answer.
This is not directed at you, Mr. PlasticAttack, but at those over the months who complain about the voluminous nature of this thread. I’m just trying to explain that it’s not really designed for ease of reading, and redundant questions are FINE. We don’t expect people to read this thread from the beginning.
Its not meant to be a FAQ sheet? The name of the thread is 1940 FAQ! Go to any web site and read the FAQ. It is a list of questions and answers. It is not a rolling q&a full of redundancy.
We ask a question. We get an answer. How many times have the various people in the know (including you) ask if we have a rulebook and produce the link.
We’ve read the rule book and needed clarification. Those replies are condescending in nature.
Then to add salt to it, you say thats what the FAQ is here for. -
RE: Rule changes?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
No rules changed. Some rewriting for clarity.

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
So i shouldnt bother trying to find the answer in this thread. I should just post a question that has been asked/answered multiple times. Well maybe that should be edited into the very first post so that others dont have to waste their time looking for an answer like me and lots of others have done.

RE: Please Read Before Opening your Anniversary Box 2017!posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
The rule book fits inside of the card board spacer. Probably got dislodged during transit, lifting one side of spacer and forcing other end of spacer down into the parts boxes. All these games were probably standing vertically in a giant box as it sailed from china. That would explain why the inner box damage is isolated to the bottom right of the game box.
Even better, why not have the box 1/2 shallower and not need a spacer at all. Just a good old fashioned snug fit
