    • RE: Most Balanced Version

      Sorry, a little off topic…
      @Baron:

      I agree with Bob.
      AA50 is just the step below Global 40 or Pacific40 / Europe40.
      AA50 also provides two setups: 1941 and 1942.
      Time of play seems similar to Classic, IMO. It depends a lot on play style.
      There is a lot to discover with AA50, including China and Italy.

      Do you know Bob where to find WW2 The Expansion rules, on line?

      I only have paper rulebooks.

      I dont know where to find an E version. I have og books. I dont have a scanner. Maybe you could scan and upload if someone interested.

    • RE: (1st edition) Russian political situation

      The Political Situation

      Germany. At war with France, UK, and ANZAC. May declare war on USA, the Soviet Union, or China per the standard rules. Declaring war on one nation does not affect the status with the two.

      Soviet Union. Not at war. May not declare war on an Axis power in Europe until turn four unless an Axis power declares war first. May declare war on Japan (the rule book indicates the game setting is before the non-agression pact, which was signed in 1941). When not at war with Japan, may not move units into China.

      So with your original questions
      Russia still neutral on euro map. Cant take any neutral territories on euro map until at war with italy&/or germany.

      Neither faq seems to address your issue and i never played it. I would double check the political situation area. Thats where its at in 2nd ed

      Classic is awesome!! If its gotten stale, 42 2nd ed is a good bump. More territories and new units. Should take about same time but adds new strategies. Anniversary is next bump. Italy is new power and china totally revamped from classic plus new units. GLOBAL. A beast!!  9 powers and a bunch of new units.
      Dont get 41. Thats a massive step down from classic.
      There were also expansions from gamers paradise for classic. Out of print for a long time so really hard to find. Had special forces, destroyers, paratroops, cruisers, artillery and bunch of other stuff. Most of that is incorporated into 42, anniversary and global. You could look for the rules online and buy sculpts from hbg, but probably easier to get new game

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

      Hmm. That brings up an interesting question.
      If some how japan attacked russia on the euro map while russia still neutral in europe, would russia still be neutral there?
      Or could american bombers land in pac russia if japan and russia are neutral, but italy and germany have taken russian territories on pac map?
      Wont happen, but wondering.

      @Gamerman01:

      @Gargantua:

      Further to this point guys - from what I can see Russia can land it’s fighter in Scotland round 1.  Nothing wrong with it, and attack against it would be DOW.  I know the chinese can land their fighter in Burma.

      The only power that has any real restrictions is USA, or powers entering China.

      I think many of us have been playing on an alpha era assumption/rule that this was illegal.  It’s not so anymore… ?

      No!  Russia is neutral at the beginning of the game, and neutral powers can’t land planes in other countries, and other countries can’t land in neutrals.  USA at war with Japan can NOT land in (Pacific map) Russia when Russia is not at war with Japan.

      Russia can’t land in Scotland R1 unless Germany declared on Russia G1.  Russia has all the same neutral restrictions as in the original 2012 OOB version of the game, at least in these regards.

      I had a bit of a problem with russia, but have it now.
      Russia has a special world neutrality compared to all others. If rus at war in europe, still neutral on pac map and vive versa.
      Slight add on to gamer…rus can still go to land in scotland, even if not at war with germany. BUT rus must be at war with italy.

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

      @Gamerman01:

      Karl - Right, enemy subs being ignored is only during the combat movement phase.  Once you’re in the combat phase and rolling dice, there is no such thing as ignoring subs/transports, so Plastic and Bob are right.

      Important tidbit…in combat phase AND rolling dice. If subs/transports are ignored AND the only defensive units in seazone, there is no combat.

      Because the fighters scramble, ALL enemy, non neutral units become involved in the battle.

      No.
      A player only surrenders ipc when they lose a capital.
      If a capitol is liberated, no ipc are surrendered, ever.

      I would buy it. They are all the same game, but each one has its own “flavor”.

      The problem with that is that the sticker will come off and/or the image will get worn.

    • RE: Dice Towers

      IL, I disagree. I can roll more dice at once in mine then can be rolled in a dice roller of the same size. For the sake of argument, 30 dice at once into an area 5"×12". (I will do an exact count and measurement if need be)
      I can drop overflowing hands of dice in the top. Trying to throw the same amount of dice at once in a tray…dice would miss the tray, running over the board. And thats not counting the ones that fly free while shaking.
      A dice tower guarantees dice manipulation, unlike a dice roller.
