      How about these varient pieces such as,

      Blockhouses (I use the mall units from Tri-opoly)
      Improves infantry defense to 3 on a matching 1/1 basis. Must have at least 1 infantry in territory to construct. Units hit by a blockhouse during an amphibious assault cannot counter-attack on the first round.
      During an offshore bombardment from a battleship, hits are assigned to blockhouses first.
      Finland/Norway, Germany, and Western Europe each start with one.
      Atk: 0
      Def: 3
      Move: 0
      Cost: 5

      Half Tracks (includes armored cars)
      Can blitz as a tank.
      Considered a tank when transporting.
      Carries 1 infantry OR 1 artillery, 2 spaces.
      Starting placement: On every territory that contains 1 infantry and 1 tank.
      Atk: 2
      Def: 2
      Move: 2
      Cost: 5

      LHP / LHA / LHD
      Carries 1 fighter and 2 infantry units, no artillery or tanks (If you use chopper units they carry that instead of fighters)
      Atk: 1
      Def: 3
      Move: 2
      Cost: 16 (same as carrier)

      Well its the very same rule i have in at least one of my games… it cant be that bad! Remember we are working with others and all these proposals will be considered. You have my vote unless something better comes along. Also, I only favor the AA action from a “built in” platform I dont want stand alone AA guns. SO the rule i like was where you roll:

      roll one  d6 if you roll a 1 , then you roll again if you roll a 1 the plane is destroyed, if you roll a two the plane has to return to base ( damaged and cant drop its payload) results of 3-6 no effect.

      Max rolls are one roll for every 2 planes, total max is 3 total rolls ( so 9 planes get 3 rolls).

      Also jet fighters/bombers  cant be hit by AA guns

      AA guns are built into IC and or VC territories ( maybe only capitals and IC).

      Yes good as you may know i have been doing the D12 thing for many years, because after all the number of variation is doubled so that the units have unique identities and character, plus you can add many additional units and its easy to convert old pieces into this new system. BY chance the D12 is what Larry will use on his own Advanced axis and allies game next year.So you are on your way on the correct path. I have tried d10 and other % dice and they dont work nearly as well.
