National Objectives
The national objectives add an extra bit of strategy because they give certain groups of territories more strategic importance. When an objective is achieved bonus income is awarded.
Japan
5 IPCs for controlling Java, Sumatra, Borneo, and Celebes at the same time
5 IPCs for controlling Solomon Islands, Dutch New Guinea, New Guinea, and New Britain
5 IPCs for controlling Honolulu
5 IPCs for controlling Sydney
5 IPCs for controlling CalcuttaUSA
Income for Western USA goes from 10 to 50 IPCs when at war with the Axis.
5 IPCs for controlling the Philippines
5 IPCs for controlling Okinawa and Iwo Jima at the same timeChina
6 IPCs when the Burma Road is controlled by the Allies (India, Burma, Yunnan, and Szechwan)UK
5 IPCs if the Allies (excluding the Dutch) control Sumatra, Java, Celebes, and Borneo at the same time
5 IPCs for controlling Kwangtung and Malaya at the same timeANZAC
5 IPCs if the Allies (excluding the Dutch) control Dutch New Guinea, New Guinea, New Britain, and the Solomon Islands
5 IPCs (once and only once) for occupying any territory that was originally Japanese controlled.excluded the dutch?i don’t get it. if Uk liberates those islands, do they turn dutch again of UK?
no if the japanese capture them and uk or anzac liberate them they take controle over them :-D

RE: 1940…posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
just like in real life
that’s what i like in this game: you’ll have same discussions of 1940 as in realityi have read a book about it, some were pro war 1940, some 1941, some pro war China, some pro war USSR
each case: it has its advantages, but disadvantages.
only depends if there are more pro’s than con’s -
RE: 1940…posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
you put huge IC in kwantung second round.
US stays small, they only get 17 IPC at start.
but indeed, you must be quick with japan, so 3 transports buy at start and start moving south to east-indies. -
RE: J1 Openingsposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
full attack first round on british battleship, kwantung and phillipines

1940…posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
i have a cunning plan actually…
what if japan starts the war in 1940…
you take out british battleship: you have paralyzed the defence of the east indies
you take out phillipines: byebye bomber, bonus of 5 for US
you take out kwantung with land army: byebye bonus of 5 for UK
and i saw something that carolines can reach java or celebes, but can’t tell that in detail now.bad sides are: you have crappy position in china (just advance in north)
US gets + 33 (-7 from philipines)
you have a small lack of ground forcespositif: you take out british navy: this weakens them severely
you gain allot more money than you would normallywhat’s everybodys opinions and ideas?

RE: If US lost the battle of Midwayposted in World War II History
an even better what-if: what if the US high command saw japanese coming to pearl harbour?
the leading admiral (forgotten name) said that if he knew the japs were coming, he would of assaulted them with carriers and entire fleet, and he most likely would of lost entire fleet.or smaller: what if carriers were at pearl harbor at 7 december 1941?

RE: Disadvantages for starting in 1940posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
now i’ve seen set-up i’m starting to like a full-scale 1940 attack
phillipines has bomber, british navy can be taken out easily, kwantung too
US gets +40, i know, but:
phillipines are gone: -7
kwantung: - 8 for UKany responses?

RE: Question about Political Situationposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Disrupting convoy is an act of war
If UK/Anzac attack Japan, all three countries (UK/Anzac and Japan) are at war, but not the USA.
If you are at war with UK and Anzac, you can attack them without putting USA at war. In other words, yes you can defend yourself. If you attack UK/Anzac/USA in a peace situation, then everyone are at war against Japan.
but i wonder, if UK declares war on japan, does US ever gets to join the war?

would it be bad idea to start war in 1940?
-
RE: Pacific 1940 review copy has arrivedposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
don’t get it
if UK attacks japan, they’re at war and the US isn’t
and if japan doesn’t attack they’re both in round 3 at warif UK attacks japan, does US ever come to war, or is it sidetracked?

RE: Axis & Allies: Europe and Pacific 1940 Fact sheet ( AAE40 and AAP40)posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
Found some facts…dont know if these have already been posted
Major factories Can only be built on a territory with an IPC value of 3 or higher (not too many of these out there – especially in AAP – Korea, Kiangsu (Shanghai), Kwangtung (Hong Kong)
And malaya
think that south east asia will be one big battlefield, just like 25 years later :D -

RE: The role of the britishposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
yeah, with 16 IPC, from which 3 are from hong kong, 4 from borneo and 3 from malaya?
(malaya is a fort, don’t underestimate it)
so that’s 9 IPC left, enough to defend india?
btw, nobody gets money from dutch east-indies -
RE: The Dutch, Canadians, & Frenchposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
netherland and belgian colonies will be controlled by UK
i can tell because the colour of east indies is same as india and such ;) -
