      @urmomsmom7:

      Well not their entire income, the English spent more money on sending troops to fight in France which explains how the Ottomans took India.

      why did they do that? and if germany was pressing hard vs france, the russians could have invaded eastern europe fairly easily? and if austrians were fighting russians, the italians could have become a powerhouse…

      Thx for trying it!
      And thx too for agreeing it is the best way!  :-)

      One little correction: It has to be 1 A-H Inf unloading into Vienna, of course.

      One little remark: R2 Germany builds 1 transport. (maybe, but this would be max. 2)

      i planned the same thing. when doing that, germany needs to aid to exploit the situation. but biggest problem is italy. the can ravage AH. what do you do against italy? Because, you need a lot f figs in ukraine too…

      Sure.

      thus rendering russian revolution inpossible, unless 3 territories around moscow are taken and held by forces, each large enough to destroy the entire russian army in 1 throw?

      Darn, just when i step back on the forum after a long pause, i arrive in a ghost town? :P

      By the way, played the game twice (as Allies) and painfully defeated my opponents who are claiming that the game is not balanced. Are they correct?

      I fully believe so

      Don’t go that far yet. Personally, its about finding the time to organize a full game under tournament rules.
      I still think this is the best Axis and Allies since the MB version, just needs a little more care and attention to iron out the flaws.

      the axis start with less forces and cannot conquer sufficient amounts of money to withstand the allies. that sounds like a bit more than a tiny flaw in the plan

      i declare this forum dead, cause nobody is commenting or putting on interesting strategies or actually anything except how to twist the game with silly extra rules

      cause of death: unbalanced gameplay
      killer: L. Harris?

    • Solution

      i might have a solution for the balance problem, it’s at least worth a try. make all neutrals strict neutrals; the same system as in global 1940: if you attack 1 neutral, all others become pro-enemy.

      @Imperious:

      I use the kill Italy first strategy.

      Austrians and Ottomans go after them, while Germany goes for France which forces UK to help only France. When Italy is gone the French crumble as Austrians attack south France.

      We hold the Russians at bay until Italy falls and can win at Paris. Ottomans help out against Russia after Italy falls.

      french are strong enough to hold germans on their own, and the russians cannot be stopped with just austrians and ottomans, certainly if austrians assault italy and brits are pushing against ottomans (because they don’t really need to help defend france)

      @Uncrustable:

      In all my games the Allies gain almost as much income as the CP in the first couple rounds

      If the Allies are sitting on there hands the first couple turns, then that would explain your 60/40

      agreed

      awfull rules: as in the real war, all fighting takes place in allied controlled territory (except in middle-east and africa…)

      @eudemonist:

      Last game I played, I ended up sending Germans down to India after the fall of Russia.  Not my whole eastern force, but ten guys or so.  A-H didn’t really have anybody left on the eastern front, or some of them would have come, too.  The Ottomen definitely need the help against India, but even with the German additions, they weren’t able to take it.  They did keep India contested for about three rounds, though, which helped monetarily.  Just couldn’t keep it up.

      if in your games ottomans can contest india, then I would like to hear their magic plans…  i just can’t believe it how anybody can take india!

      the matter in fact, i just came up with one: using austrian forces through sebastopol to aid autobots…

      @xxstefanx:

      Yes.
      Destroying the 6 Romanian and 4 Serbian units right away is the best trade-off you can get R1 with AH.
      Losses = 5.
      You conquer both tts and get 5 IPCs which is almost 2 Inf.
      So basically it is 10/3 which is  a big one you could not afford to miss out.
      (AND: Russia cannot counter it.)

      Economics change to:
      CPs: 82 IPCs (84 if AH is lucky and takes Tuscany!)
      Allies: 108 IPCs

      With the maximum AH stack in Galicia Germany is prepared to make 11 additional IPCs R1:

      • Poland 3
      • Holland 2
      • Belgium 2
      • Africa: 4
        (SO that would already be 93/97!
        Still a slight disadvantage numerically BUT US cannot make itself felt on the battlefields for at least 6 rounds!

      i wouldn’t study economics if I were you
      no, just joking, but you did make some calculation errors:
      the CP cannot hold africa, so 8 IPCS go, while the allies can take it, and extras (congo, mozambique, angola, ethiopia, spanish morocco)
      also; the pro-allied neutrals are not included, like portugal, arabia, albania and such
      the ottomans give ground against overwhelming british forces, but that’s later in the game so i understand your calculation.

      but my plan was concerning the russians: not only giving them a hit on the stomach in A1 but a hit on the Ukrainehead in A2 and G2….

      and back to axis plans
      i recently came up with this one: a full frontal attack on ukraine with Austria!
      A1 you can assault tuscany (1 inf, doesn’t matter), move rest of troops to serbia. move all forces to romania. for this plan to work you need to take it in 1 round. move all other available forces to galicia. R1 will probably assault mesopotamia and gather all in ukraine. A1 you can buy 4 fighters (not that recommended, but it’s possible for max firepower.) A2 you assault full force into the russian stack. after russian counterattack you can A) take belarus and livonia for revolution B) support austrians. make sure germans have enough fighters to remove possible russian ones.

    • RE: The UK beast

      @ghr2:

      The Germans + Austrians should be keeping Russia on the defensive.  I never see Ottoman screwed the way you say unless the allies are doing much worse on other fronts.

      even so; in one of my games russia was annihilated and italy had fallen. but UK has the money to send over 10 infantry, fighters artillery and tanks every round to the middle-east. they don’t need ships, in worst case scenario the US can provide. france can hold on its own quite easily, causing paris to be unable to fall. i really can’t see how people lose the game, or win with powerful ottoman empire. give or take a round, by UK 10 Constantinopel can be taken. the UK needs to spend nothing nada zero on western front. they already have sufficient starting forces and can use french transports.
      just do the simple math: UK starts with 30 which cannot be touched. africa is worth an extra 7, persia 2, mesopotamia 3 (not at start, but can be conquered, certainly with russian support) and then there’s afghanistan, ethiopia, … that’s already 42. double of ottoman empire. austria aswell can’t send reinforcements every round as they would be late and impotent and they need it to hold the frontline. same with german fleet: they don’t have the time or money. the entire game is a race of austria and germany vs the brits. i don’t even believe in economical parity anymore.

      @Texas:

      @Frontovik:

      the french or the russians are already pushing quite hard on the german frontline. you can hardly spend anything on fleet. should you spend on fleet, the brits can match more easily. or use American ships to reinforce that navy. ottomans fended the brits off quite some time actually, but they can’t stop 'em. certainly when the first tanks come rolling in, then it’s GO for the ottoman empire and their 19 IPC’s go straight to UK.

      I didn’t say you had to out spend the Brits, but you stated your solution to keeping the Ottomans from getting ran over.  If the Brits are buying navy to match the Germans, they aren’t spending as much in India.

      it would depend on how much navy germany got left… i mean; the french can build ships aswell. but all this is just patchwork: the question is: how can you prevent UK from becoming so rich? what is the best Ottoman strategy?
