      I just completed a map, please double check me in case of mistakes.

      I’ll play either side, so pick which you prefer. If attached map is fine and you chose Axis, feel free to play G1. If you rather Allies, I’ll start the thread and play my G1 in next 15hours.

      If I may… I’m really surprised by this answer. Please forgive my english as I don’t practice it enough… but I want to make sure I understand right.

      In Europe 1940’s rule book, p.10, under Friendly Neutrals :

      Friendly neutrals may not be attacked, and air units may not fly over them. They can be moved into (but not through) as a noncombat move by land units of a power that is at war

      Say, a friendly neutral to me… I can’t move during combat move, I can’t move throught it (blitz) during non combat. But, from your answer, the ennemy can. So, actually, “sided” neutrals without troops is more open to his ennemy’s than his friends.

      From that rule, I thought all neutrals were stopping movement, regardless of sides. But seems I was wrong.

      In clear, for instance :
      There’s no way Russia can rush through untouched Northwest Persia, but Axis could attack Caucasus from Iraq with armors through the same untouched Persia. Correct?
      (By untouched, I mean no nation ever walked in, therefore no nation markers over it).

    • Is SZ11 adjacent to any coast?

      I search with SZ11 and Mexico thru forum, but didn’t find anything.

      Rules clearly state that z11 and z64 are adjacent (and z10 - z64 are not, by omission)
      But Is SZ11 adjacent to any coast or just sea zones?

      z11 certainly don’t border Mexico as the sea’s northern zone border is quite far. But :
      A. Map aside don’t fit (Pacific contacts half central USA)
      B. Map so Mexico fits as real world, then z11 doesn’t touch any land, but z10 would be next to z64.

      So I don’t really know. It’s either:
      a. z11 doesn’t border any coast.
      b. z11 border S. Mexico.

      Anyone knows?

      Was the US a superpower before WWII? Absolutly not.

      I like Mark’s definition.

      Besides sematics, USA was only 14th as army power.
      What allowed USA to be major player in WWII is distance (No axis power close by), unattacked homeland (please don’t argue this with Pearl Harbor or few U-Boats on East Coast… clearly not same scale!) and ability to quickly swap to war economy (which drag 2/3 of world gold after WWII…).

      There’s no way USA was a super power before WWII. I even doubt it was a great power… as his influence outside his land was mainly politics.

      If Hitler would have stopped at Czechoslovakia, WWII (at least in Europe) wouldn’t have happened.  Its possible there would have been a war between Britian, France, and Russia over the Baltic states, but maybe not.  Likewise with Japan.

      But their ambition drove them to wars they wouldn’t win.

      I disagree on both “wouldn’t happen” and “wouldn’t win”.

      Hitler pushed as much as he could to get land just by bullying. In fact, he was even surprised when France and UK declared war over Poland’s invasion.
      France and UK accepted unfair deal (before Poland) to avoid the war, and yet Hitler kept bullying. So I feel WWII would happen anyway… which Third Reich could have won BTW. I don’t feel Third Reich would have last decades tho, certainly not 1000 years!

      USA was rated 14th as army power at that time and didn’t want to get involved in “European war”. What “saved” USA is distance. USA was surprised at Pearl Harbor, perhaps, but France (whole Europe actually, Great Britain saved by water) was surprised over all his land!

      All Europe was down. Worst, Vichys resisted UK!
      Even Great Britain was down, equipment left at Dunkirk, RAF was about to crumble when Hitler stopped raiding them. Loosing twice as much aircrafts than UK, made Hitler stop, unaware that RAF was struggling lacking of both pilots and planes.

      Stop fighting at Dunkirk (allowing Allies to flee and regroup in Great Britain), UK Land invasion never occured, Attack on Russia (and it’s winter), failed assasination on Hitler, unsupported Africa Corps (few supplies sent was sunk)… all those major events cause Third Reich downward. Even if D-Day is outrageously promote by movies (Many other battles were way more important, specially on russian side), I have to admit that Third Reich wouldn’t have failed without USA and UK’s colonies’ effort.

      Please don’t take me wrong, I certainly hope this war (any war in fact) would never happen. I most certainly don’t like dictators, racism and disinformation (propaganda). Yet, facts are there. WWII was going to happen anyway, Third Reich could have won, as much as I dislikes both statements.

      I also look to play few more games. I have one game as Axis (now at USA3) and another about to start, again as Axis.
      Since you have no preference I would like to try Allies this time.

      Have all three of your partners read this post, and see let me know if you still after trouble after all four of you follow these guidelines: include information on anything you discovered regarding the versions used by you and your partners and/or whether or not anyone had changed the name of their .GIM module folder.

      I think it’s ok. With first player I had no issue, game is going on (and I feel I have the edge! :-D ), second player told me he didn’t have the G40.gim folder (most recent module). Now that he has it, I expect this game will go on. No news about the third player… but it was an unfair challenge. I said that Axis had no chance at all with OOB setup and beg for anyone to prove me wrong (not that I’m better than anyone, but I really don’t see how Axis can even capture 13 cities out of 14 needed). He was the only one to answer…
      Alpha setup sounds great tho. I enjoy playing it, way more balanced.

      Bottom line, I think I’m all set, thanks for you help.

      Nope. Creativity = 0  :oops:
      But I have skills with computer and softwares (I’m software analyst), so I can easily learn from and give hand on project. Home alone with 2 kids, my spare time are irregular, but I’ll work on it this weekend.
      I plan to simply open the file in (any?) graphics software and reproduce the pattern on flat part of the map. I’ll make sure not to cause compatibility issue as you stated.
      I don’t see anything else to do, but if there’s… just PM (or email) me. Since I’m using and greatly appreciate your work, I feel I have to give back.

      Sure I’ll help. I guess I can do some image editing to get a full map as nice as the Pacific side. If anything else, let me know. I just don’t know what else is needed.

      I also have unsolved problem.
      I want to play by forum (I am actually), it goes well with the first player I started a game with… but with 2 other players (2 different games) they can’t load my map and I can’t load theirs. The game crashes.

      Besides the Abattlemap software version (I have 0.80 alpha1 - talking software version, not game set up, might get confusing!), what else should I look for? I asked the other player (Gargantua) to give me the link he used and he pointed me here… which is also where I found and use the download link.

      Bottom line, I don’t know what to do. Anyone knows? I would like to find what’s the problem, since I love join the league. But since I can’t play with 2 out of 3 players… well… sure you get my point.

      Ooups… :oops:… sorry, I assumed it was Funcioneta’s work on the map. In any case, if I may help in any way, so I can also contribute for what I find excellent tool to reach distant players, just let me know.

      I still prefer RL game with the board, but play by forum is nice to reach players from different region.

    • Question : Sub vs Fighter

      Just to make sure… with alpha+ setup and new rules for scramble (coast) I have a situation I never had before.

      Say 2 subs attack a lone Cruiser next to a Airbase with fighter. (In clear, 2 subs attack SZ91 and fighter is present at Gibraltar)

      1. If there’s 2 hits on first round, is the fighter is hit. (Not sure of the rules when mixed units)

      2. Scramble is only 1 round, but for my comprehension, let’s imagine a round 2 leaves defending plane (from destroyed carrier) and only attacking subs. Then surviving sub may submerge in SZ where battle occured and fighter can’t spot it, right? (And fighter would have to land in friendly coast or island or crash).
