This sounds incredibly interesting to me. I am all about flexibility in games as it keeps you interested in them. That is what I am attempting with my Global variant map and house rules with it. Except I am only doing WWII as it is what I have available, and due to limited funds and limited experience I am not willing to undertake something like this on my own… yet. But this sounds incredibly interesting. If there is anything I can do to help out let me know. Assuming this goes beyond an idea

I will be in Palermo for a week coming up here and I was curious if anybody had anything WWII related that I should see. I personally don’t know of anything big happening here that resulted in something I can visit but that doesn’t mean there isn’t something. If anybody has anything let me know. Thanks for any info people can provide!

That is crazy money. I paid $130 for an almost 4x8 board in Seattle on Vinyl.

The guy I went through in Seattle just asked for the image and the dimensions I wanted and he handled the rest. Not sure where you are located but I would highly recommend this guy to anybody. I will use him once I am done with my custom map

I ended up doing some more research and I went with affinity. Thanks for the help Robert and everybody else. I will keep people updated as this moves forward with an actual program

I really want to figure out which program so I can get this worked out and get to designing and play testing the variant I have in mind. Then I can share more. But I need this map done first

A&A 1940 plus rules of my own. Never played or read the rules of HBG. For all I now my rules could have some overlap but to my knowledge they are either my own or twisting of things that I have seen on the forums that were concepts that I made/am making into rules

I can get a discount on Adobe since I am a student but it is still $240 a year. I mean $20 a month doesn’t sound terrible if I was going to be able to crank this out this cancel my subscription but between classes and work I doubt that will be the case. Affinity seems like it can do what I need as I am certainly a beginner. I just want to make sure its user friendly since I am the worst 21 year old when it comes to technology.

When do you expect this map to be done? Also, would you be okay with me taking it to use for my custom map? I mainly will be changing territories and values (as you can see in the progress I had made). I am asking since I will be changing programs and will likely have to restart. So I figure I might as well restart with a well done map. However, if this will take a few more months I will likely continue to use IE’s map

Robert have you worked with Affinity’s designer program? It seems nice, but since it is new I just want to make sure I am not spending $50 on something that will be riddled with bugs

This looks like a variant I was working on. Until I decided to design a whole new map for it. Mine is still in the works but similar

This project is not forgotten or given up on. I have made some great progress in the pacific so far. However, due to repeated issues with inkscape and the fact that I have basically had to redo all my work a few times, I am going to look to switch over to adobe programs. Once I have more figured out I will share the progress I have made

Panther, I am not a computer guy so I don’t know the answers to those questions. Is there an easy way to get them?

That being said I have made way too much progress on this map through Inkscape (Europe/North Africa being done, Mainland Pacific also being done) to just scrap it. However, this program is very limited in making a map past the basic concepts. So potentially once the basics are done I can use these programs to make the map prettier and cleaner.

101MB, and I am not sure on RAM. When I try to find it on my laptop it says “Installed RAM 8.0 GB (7.89 usable)”. Not sure if this is what you were looking for. Also it randomly decided to work on saving. However, it would be nice to know how to actually solve this problem in the future not just hope it fixes itself again because I did lose a little work (but not enough to be serious). Thank you for the help

So I have been working for a while now on designing my own map through inkscape. For a while it was working without any issues. After I finished China and saved (not seeing at the bottom it said that it did not save) I closed it down and now that work is gone. I have about refinished China but whenever I click to save at the bottom of the screen it says “Document not saved”. Any idea what is happening and how to fix it?
