I think you wrote the answer wrong for the poll. Shouldn’t it be:
" No, in favor of the Axis"
and
“Yes, it’s balanced”

Ive always played been Rusia, next time im planning on been Germany. i was thinking that it would be a better strategy agaisnt Rusia to go all out for the Cucasus.
IMHO if you have to advance evenly through Russian or else your forward units get cut off and encircled
The 1942 version has been re-released over the period of a couple of decades. The 1941 scenario is not only a newer version, but gives players more freedom
when it comes to playing Russia you have to know when its time to cut your losses and regroup, because of this I have no problem trading Leningrad with the Germans because in the end its just buying me time until the cavalry ( UK/ US) arrives and lands in Norway.
Note: never ever ever ever trade the Caucasus
I know its a bit of a waste but i’ll do just about anything to buy Italy time
If you’ll do anything, you can always buy a German IC for France G1, enabling Germany (who can afford it) the chance to help the Med navy by plopping down an A/C (and land her ftrs on it) or whatever else little brother’s navy might need (Italy)
IMHO this defeats the purpose of having Italy as a separate power, they fight in the Med. so that Germany doesn’t have to. I should have said:
“I know its a bit of a waste but i’ll do just about anything to buy Italy time, short of getting the Germans largely involved”

german airforce kills the UK ships off of Egypt, load up 1inf onto a transport, and support the landing with my crusiers
HUH?
This is the 1941 scenario forum
There ARE no UK ships off Egypt
oh, sorry didn’t notice that nervous laughter :-o
Either way, you still move the tranny next to Gibraltar, invade, and use your warships to cover it

assuming you are going for Africa, taking Gibraltar turn 1 is a good way to keep those pesky air units out of the Roman Lake for a while, which just might give you enough time to build up troops and deflect attacks.

@Cmdr:
Oh, oh! I know!
Russia: Cruiser, Carrier, Infantry, Save 1 IPC
England: Land 2 fighters on Russian Carrier(Assuming you build it in SZ 4 with your Submarine so the British Fighters Can land there!)
Now I know your probably a waaaaay better strategist then me, but this just sounds like too much of a risk to me.
Yea, it was a joke. :)
But just imagine how funny it would be done IRL! Betcha I could take off my shirt, pull this stunt, and still have a slightly decent chance to win the game (since my opponent would be staring at my chest - I hope - I could pull all his tanks off the board without his knowing it! Thus, I would have a slightly decent chance to win! hehe.)
LOL
i wasn’t sure if you were joking so I didn’t want to completely bash this idea :-D

Does italy really stand a chance of controling an retaining africa? I seems to me that america can take africa easily if they want.
My point exactly
First off, I really enjoy playing Italy, its my 3rd choice after UK and Japan.
Now that I got that out of the way here’s the depressing part: Italy is screwed
Idk about you but my first goal as the Allies is always the Med., and because Italy is pretty weak, if the Allis want it they can have it. Heck, the RAF alone has the potential to wipe out Italy’s nay in 2-3 turns. So what I do to hold this off (not prevent) is this
1. Try to clear the Med. of Allied boats
2. Invade Gibraltar I1
3. At least make a stalemate on the libya-Egypt border, because you can potentially get in more troops and the UK cant
I doubt this is an original idea, but here we go:
Any one ever try to do games risk style? You would play the first game normally, but after the first country’s capital falls you end the game. You still keep all your captured territories, get to free move your troops, place a few new ones down, determine new alliances and play again. Then continue like that until its a massive 1 v 1 war. I think it would add some competitive tension, and a “Land Grab” mentality.
Naturally a hard copy of these rules would need to be written down though….
Any thoughts?
I would have to say #1 beacause I’m assuming that EEB is saying that there was no Pearl Harbor and no attack on any Duch or English colonies and only an attack on Russia. An attack on Russia would have been devestating in late 1941 early 42. Russia would’ve been forced to divert forces away from the Germans and the Russians bearly held the line against the Germans anyway.
I disagree, Japan did not have a mechanized enough army for crossing all of frozen Siberia and than making it to Moscow with any significant fighting force
this has come up a couple of times, in revised I think its a terrible waste of resources
There is 1 post in the A&A europe boards where a guy did it and won in 1 turn
I’ve thought about using a ME staging area before, but at the end of the day you have all three of the axis gunning for you and Russia cant spare the troops necessary to defend it
if germany puts any transports in the Baltic, more often than not they’ll be at the bottom of the ocean before you can even say SeaLion
this game is about balance. some ppl think its decided by the combat/ dice. but really your buys/NCM decide this game, so buying all fighters for uk/us is just like thrwoing everything u have at japan. not balanced, hence u loose. ftrs are strong and good. but they are just like any other unit a piece of the whole puzzle. leaving out one piece wont ruin it, leaving out all others pieces for one will.
Thats probably the best way to put, there isn’t just 1 dominant unit or 1 dominant strategy, you gotta keep it balanced
but are you suggesting to just give up Africa, the Middle East, China and the Pacific to the Axis? I know that’s a common KGF tactic, but it seems like the UK would be hurting to much after a few turns. Also it seems lie Godzilla Japan could push through China into Russia.
