Many do…
:(
Thank you.
Rules seem like LHTR 2.0, which is how I play, except I don’t play with tech. Is this all of the CSub rules? Nothing about multiple bombardments?
As for the bidding system:
For 2v2, you probably just ask someone to be the bidder for that side, so it would work like 1v1.
But, what about for 5 player games? 5 player games where the people don’t know who they will play yet. Would it just be the two lowest bidders take the axis?
Make sure you build plenty of infantry for Russia. Japan can be ignored for awhile. If you have US land in Africa, then Japan income will hit a max of about 50.
There are some pretty decent strategies at the following link, http://www.gametableonline.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=36.
Once, my precious Moscow burned on G1.
AND I play very conservative. Bell & WR.
Very rare dice for this to happen though. On WR i saw nothing but white, then on G1, when Moscow was attacked, nothing but white dice again.
A CSub editor… It’s an honor…
Yeah, I don’t like the time limit. I also don’t like LL. I feel dice not only make it more realistic, but it also makes the game harder, because you have to try to prepare for the unknown. But… You will lose more because of dice.
FTF is usually out of the question for me. Drive time, setup time, scheduling, etc. Hence why I play online.
I probably wont switch over to AA50 for awhile. I’ll give GTO some time to come out with it online before I start looking at another site. Besides, AAR is a great game…
Do you have a list of the rules that you guys played by?
There is nothing wrong with sliding into obsolescence, it happens to us all. Because of time, seems to me you guys should try online play. A 15 hour ftf game would be a fraction of that time online, not to mention, you can save the games online.
Even though I’m in Ohio, detroit would be rough…
Still, i’d love to play some of you guys. PM me at GTO if you, or any of the other guys would want a game.
Glory to the CSub players !! ---- Tanks are STRONG !!

I really want some games with them… Alas, tis not to be.
Is it true they only play ftf? Mainly in tournaments?
Anyone else out there think tournament games, because of their strict time limit, are a completely different game than a game that goes to 9 or 10 vic?
Against very good players online, with many things being automatically done for you, it could still take 6+ hours to have a good idea about who will win. 4 hour time limit tournament games? Not for me…
Different goals, different strategies, and different tactics. Imo, tourney play doesn’t have much to do with actually winning the war…
OHHHH mighty csub people, come out of hiding… Play A&A with me :).
bb82 @ GTO.
Well if he attack with both trannies and puts an IC in india why not take the IC.
He got 1 inf there as he moved 2 out maby 2 if he moved the persia 1 over.
In that case china wont be going anywhere but the factory will be put to good use by japan next turn.
Imo, putting an IC on India is a bad move for UK. But yes, if there is one, I will usually go all out for it.
Well, I made my choice.
AC + tranny when things look very rough on J1.
For #1, when I say collect Germany’s income, I mean the money that Germany had. Since you get all income from a Country, when their capital falls. This isn’t the same thing as actually “collecting income” at the end of the turn.
For these questions, answer it by using what most good players play with, not just the “actual” rulebook. So use LHTR or what is standard by “expert/tourney” play.
Lets say Moscow fell to Germany, then Berlin fell to Moscow, but Moscow is still owned by Germany.
1)Does Russia still collect Germanys income?
2)If so, is Russia able to buy things with that income in Berlin?
3)Can Japan take over one of Germany’s start-of-the-game-territories, which is currently still owned by Germany, by placing one of Japans units on it?
4)Can Japan take over one of Germany’s start-of-the-game-territories, which is currently owned by the enemy, if it had a land unit survive the battle for it?
I think it’s:
1)Yes
2)No
3)No
4)Yes
You would think that #3 would be yes. Why wouldn’t you be able to use that countries territory as your own, if you entered it with a unit? Its capital has fallen, you would think the populace would work for you, being an allie and all. How is this much different than #4?
5 trannies on G1?
I would be a very happy allied player.
2 trannies on G1 is good. Maybe 5 on G2 after you see what the allies do.
The caspian sub guys wrote some good stuff about german navy builds.
Here are all their articles:
9 is all that you really need to know who won in A&AR. Very rarely will someone still have a chance if a side holds 9 after the USA turn and that is usually when one side made some silly mistake. But to be absolutely sure, 10 would be needed.
I play with 9 becuase that’s all all I really think is needed. I play at GTO so the game will end when I have the 9th, whether my opponent wants it over or not. It keeps track of stats and some will drag their loss out to the bitter end. If I played with 10, then many games would drag out for no reason, even though it’s clear the game is over.
I always quit if i’m sure I lost. The ones that don’t, I feel are mini-stallers. Even in a 9 vic game, some will stack that 9th vic, just to prolong the end. A waste of time, imo. I refuse to ever play with 8. That is not a game based on conquering the other side and it isn’t that hard for the axis to get 8 and win, even though the game is far from over.
There are some good strategies/tactics at the following. Just scroll down to the A&A forum (A&AR).
http://www.gametableonline.com/forum/
The caspian sub articles on strategies for A&AR should be required reading.
Here they are:
I avoid a J IC in this case b/c you likely won’t need an 11 capicity for a while, esp if US follows with a Pac buy and it is a KJF. You don’t want to HAVE TO defend it. It just locks you into some moves that hurt your J1 attack scenerios. You need maximum flexibility. As I said I’ll probably get a DD or AC and follow-up with ftrs on later turns. You’ll probably only need 3 trns total in the short term. So you buy 1 trn in J1 (2 if you go DD), and another trn on J2 with air/inf.
As I understand it, you would forgo taking back borneo on J1?
To me it looks like having trannies just limits your flexibility when Japan is in a bad situation on J1. Imo, the best way to counter USA for awhile is to have your fleet and fighters in position to attack it if it moves too early. But if your fleet is protecting your trannies and taking pot shots at the mainland, how can your fleet be in position?
Why go with an AC when you could get an IC for that price and guarantee a presence on the mainland? If Russia comes in strong then you will be hurting for icps for awhile, especially if you dont get Borneo back right away.
But idk for sure, that’s the problem. I used to think 2 ICs is the best counter to a kjf or even a partial one, but then you need extra infantry on French, which increases the chances of China going bad. I’m starting to lean towards 1IC, 1 fighter, and save 5 for J2. But I have been giving more thought to a naval purchase, but thats a hard bullet for me to swallow. I’m having trouble justifying if. Especially another AC. 2 should be plenty. Air is more the way to go to hit USA with some subs when the time is right.
I’ve posted something similar to this @ GTO, but I havn’t really found an answer, so I ask you the same question:
4 situations: These are some of the worst starting positions that J1 can be in.
1:
6 Russians @ Bury
UK bomber @ Nov
UK destroyer and carrier killes Japan tranny
UK uses one tranny load each, to take New Guinea and Borneo
UK sub survives, Japan sub dead.
UK puts fighter with Pearl fleet.
2:
Same as 1 except only destroyer kills tranny and the UK fighter is in borneo waters with carrier, instead of being @ Pearl.
3:
Similar to 1 & 2, except UK builds an IC @ India.
4:
Similar to others, except Egypt fighter survives and joins the UK carrier.
What does does Japan do on J1 if in these situations? Build and moves?
My quick answer:
I like the idea of usually going with 3 trannies on J1, but I dont see how it can do that and fight all the necessary battles without leaving its trannies in harms way. So the best that I can think is to either go with 2 IC’s or go with 1 IC, a fighter, and save 5. Then do all the normal battles.
Your solution?
Also, how about for AA50? Is AAA the best? I’m not for sure how that works, how do you find players to join your games there? Like I said, I’m knew to online places, other than GTO. Perhaps I’ve just gotten spoiled by being able to just click on a table to join a game. So any help with how most places do it would be nice.
Thanks,
bb82
-And yeah, that’s my biggest problem with GTO, no bids. But you can make your own bids, like extra aa guns for USA/UK. Also within the month they will have a basic preselectable bid that most think will fix the imbalance issue. By summer they should have a standard bid system in place. Aslo, the interface at GTO is pretty awesome.
I’ve played ftf A&A with a couple people for over a decade. Once I found revised, I stopped playing the original. The same will probably happen when I finnally make the switch to AA50, but I dont think that will be for awhile.
A few months ago I saw the revised box in my closet and started to wish that I could play it more, it’s hard to find a ftf game. Something clicked in my head to google online play. One of the first things that popped up was a gameing site called www.gametableonline.com (GTO). I’ve been there since. I thought I new much about the game, but I never knew how much of a newb I really was until I started to play so many different players.
Although I wont be able to play as much anymore, over the past few months I’ve logged hundreds of hours into the game. I now consider myself an expert in revised or at least close to an expert. GTO is growing and I’m happy there, but I would like a bigger pool of opponents to choose from or at least see what else is out there. So to the questions at hand, where do many play revised online at? How do I find good/expert players to play against?
I’d appreciate any help in pointing me in the right direction and enlightening me more about the revised community.
Thx,
bb82
