Krieg, thanks for the lightning response. Actually I never played Revised, played tons of Classic and just started playing AAE, AAP and Guad. Infact, just finished reading AA50 rules a night or two ago. My tactical tilt was probably due to playing
Panzerblitz/Leader as a teen. I figured some thought was put into this….I just couldnt extrapolate

RE: Optimum vp bidposted in Axis & Allies Pacific
I’ve tried the marianas but then I lose fighter escort as most of my fleet gets wasted in the naval battle prior to the amphib assault. Between the aa and escort I cant make a big dent on the IPC front. I will try to make my asia push earlier.
Thanks for the input SS ;I think AAP is a great game. I will try a few solitaire runs to see how this plays out. Perhaps, when I get my nerve up we can give it a go and I can watch the master at work.

Shore Bombardmentposted in Website/Forum Discussion
Just wondering why bombardment casualties get to return fire in an amphib assault.? Never thought about this until now and I cant think of a good reason why they should. Any ideas?

RE: Should I get AA50?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
Mission and fun games (canada) has it listed for 159 canadian. On 4/18 it was 130 canadian so I guess supplies are running out. A lot of the amazon sites are taking pre orders for the fall in the 70-100 USD range. You can also try ebay or craigs list.

Where's the escort?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
Just finished reading the rules to AA50 last night. Does anyone know why escort and cap were not included/considered in this version?
Second, jet fighters…. why should the attack factor be increased when their speed made them more difficult to shoot down?

I couldn’t agree more. These are my sentiments but I didn’t have the time to articulate them as eloquently as you on my first post. I’d throw some karma your way if I could.

RE: What's the worst luck you've had in trying to take a territory?posted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
Many years ago in conquest of the empire I attacked Hispania with 7 nitwit squadrons (7 galleys with 7 inf ea.) in an effort to regain catapult supremacy. I failed to roll a single 6 in 49 rolls.

I’m a nifty fifty. I thought I would support the elder guard .Eisenhower was president when I was born. My kids have asked me if there was TV when I was growing up.

I must have missed that. It was late last night when I read the rules. What about AAE AAP. By the way, I like the Strangelove!!

Carrier and plane buildsposted in Website/Forum Discussion
If my memory serves me correctly new aircraft cannot be placed on carriers in classic. From the aa50 rules this seems to be the case as well. Is this also true for AAP and AAE?

A stroll down memory laneposted in Website/Forum Discussion
It has been 20+ years since I purchased AA2nd ed. I played alot with my friends and they picked up a game of their own. Their game came with 2 sets of units with no reference to this on either the box or rules. Was this an isolated case or was there limited production of these games? Curious if anyone knows? (ca. 1990)

RE: My take on LL versus Diceposted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
I think Turtle hits the nail on the head. I doubt Patton told von Rundstedt that he would be taking the Siegfried line because he was attacking with 5 infantry and armored divisions to von Runstedts 2. The battle had to be fought and thats what rolling dice is all about.

RE: A&A: 1942 Editionposted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
for the price of 35.00 I doubt that the units/sculpts will be any different. I have everything but revised and D day and don’t see any significant differences in quality in the units from those games.
