    • RE: Conquest of the Empire: where can I get the original rules?

Think about limiting the modification for rolls with the catapults to a max of +1 no matter what the advantage is otherwise the game becomes a race to get the most pults and is limited. Some people have advocated a limit of 2/legion but then you can have multiple legions in one territory. Thats why Numidia is screwed… they end up 1-2 pults short.

In a 4 player game Numidia is the worst country to be if you are playing with oob rules. In a 6 player game it is Italy. For 3 players it is Macedonia.

I assume you are referring to the old gamemaster series

    • RE: Question about PBF

There are 2 find FIND PLAYER  tabs further down. One is listed under the findplayers section the other under PBF. You would probably want the latter.  This thread may get moved there anyway. Btw, what are you looking to play?

    • Is blitzing viable?

I’ve played a few games now and it appears that blitzing is not an option against a player who does not leave big gaps in their lines. If the defense is staggered in alternate hexes attacks on the armor which result in rereat become elims for zoc considerations. I was wondering if the more seasoned players have experienced this?

    • RE: Additional bulge questions

Yes, my thought was to play a third game with an allied defense based on depth. The past game I placed most  of the reinforecements close to the front so I could counterattack at every opportunity to denude the spearheads and make the Germans  burn supplies to advance their retreated units. This worwithdrawked well on the north and southern ends. Bastogne fell on turn 6 however in the center of the board the Germans took La Roche and Marche on turn 8. It does seem like  the allied units at the front get wasted when attacked with 16+. I’m even wondering if I pays to withdraw any surviving units on turn to better positions. I will look at the posts you listed.

    • RE: Additional bulge questions

Assuming no enemy units or zocs are in the way a units road  movement(tanks/trucks) would only be limited by the zoc of the first enemy town it encounters regardless of the number of hexes it is from the front line markers.

Also for an unoccupied enemy town is the zoc only the town hex?

So far I like this game alot but is difficult to stop the Germans

    • RE: Additional bulge questions

If  I chose to burn an additional token couldnt I advance 1 hex past  Bastogne with the armor units which just took it? Also if reinforecements burn a token can they blitz  1 hex past Bastogne as well ?

    • Additional bulge questions

      1. If an air attack is made on a hex containing only supplies is 1 die rolled for AA?

      2. If 3 AA hits 4,4,4 are made against an attacking group of 3 planes is only the plane in the first slot is destroyed and there is no effect on the other 2 ?

      3. If I eliminate all the defenders  of Bastogne during combat and occupy it during movement can:
              A. offboard supplies and units reinforce it if on trucks?
              B. should I choose to blitz my armor can they occupy the next town (Neufchateau , La Roche) if the roads are open and there are no enemy zocs?  (my understanding is they can move only 1 additional hex)

    • RE: Assigning hits

One of the nicer things about the smaller sized games is their playability in the sense that they can be completed quickly. They are well suited for solitare play when learning. In a sense I prefer AAP and AAE over the global games for the same reason. Perhaps, when I get enough moxy , I will try my hand on a global  game by forum.

    • RE: Assigning hits

The overkill doesnt bother me so much. It is like the old AH games where you would factor up to 4:1 odds to insure a kill; roll a 6 with a +1 mod for woods/town and get no effect. It just seemed odd  in the sense that this is the only AA game where not all hits are assigned.

Although Ive only played the game once I like it because of the supply factor. It reminds me of the old  AH Afika Korps  game

    • RE: Assigning hits

Thanks Frimmel for clearing that up. After I made the post I came across another of your posts with a link that stated six ones was akin to really destroying  a unit. So in summary, wrap around hits are allowed while excess hits do not get applied to other units. (unlike GC). I guess the reference in the faqs for the AA is that aircraft are the only possible target.

    • Assigning hits

I’m a little confused about this. On the faqs it seems that all hits are assigned while on one of frimmel’s posts hits are wasted.

EG. A superior German force attacks an allied hex containing 1inf  1Art  3supply tokens

what are the outcomes for the following dice rolls:

      A) 1 1 1 1 1 1 1      B) 1 2 3 4 5 6    C) 1 3 4 5 5 6

    • Pimp my trucks

      A couple of truck questions

Can trucks which are free to move off board return on the same turn with supplies/ units?

Can trucks which start their turn in an enemy zoc capable of transporting units/ supplies which are already on board?

Are trucks the only way supplies can be placed on the board?

    • Are people still into 2nd Ed?

I’ve noticed on some of the other websites like aamc and iaapa that 2nd ed is the game of choice. Curious to know why this is still in demand? I still play it but I’m coming out of mothballs and never played revised. Perhaps Jen can advise as I see she is active on aamc.

PS. take your time Jen I saw your computer was on the fritz.
