Hi Sans
Welcome to A&A.org. I would suggest reading through some of the topics where you currently are. Especially any that have “strategy” in them.
Impressive quotes. Hadn’t heard some of those. I’m motivated to look their sources up now :) German Lines of Communication were quite challenging. Idk, but if that’s what Stalin and Zhukov believed, one can’t really argue against it.
Agree Stalingrad was a major turning point. Sounded as if Turkey was ready to jump in with the Axis had Germany won there. It also seemed that Stalin was just feeding enough troops in to keep Germany from winning. Some close calls for sure, but overwhelming Russian strength in reserve.
“When Titans Clashed” by David Glantz is a pretty good read on the German/Russian part of the war.
@Hunter:
As we all know Allied Convoys from the US and the UK saved the Soviet Union from collapse during WW2…
Disagree that we “all know” that. Russia saved themselves imo. They stopped Germany in front of Moscow and almost destroyed Army Group Centre before any of the lend lease had a chance to get there, let alone make an impact.
@CWO:
Thanks Barney – great story. Paul Allen is developing an impressive track record in relation to the underwater archaeology of WWII: he found the wreck of the Musashi a couple of years ago.
Right on. Was The “Musahi” was one of their Monster Battleships ?
Cool stuff Erocco ! Always nice to see another mod : )
I don’t quite remember how DK uses convoy zones, GW for that matter. I need to re explore those at some point in time as they both are cool.
I added convoy zones to the global map. Some are worth dough and some take it from land TTs. The enemy doesn’t get the cash for owning them, just kills the money. If you submerge you don’t affect it.
Have a Blockade Zone in the middle of the Atlantic that can blockade SZs that are worth dough.
Anyway, it all seems to work out to me. Have fun with your mod :)
here’s a coulpe links: http://www.edcollins.com/backgammon/diceprob.htm

So according to this you have a 66.6% chance of rolling a 1 or a 2 when throwing 2, 6 sided dice. I find it somewhat confusing, but it seems to make sense. : )
Kinda cool that he uses a Axis and Allies reference too :)
Well that guy is wrong or more likely I misinterpreted his info. Here’s how redrum explains 2 subs attacking 1 cruiser:
“So one thing to remember is the battle calc is approximate and just averages based on the run count (increasing run count should get closer to the true value). That said the chance with dice that 2 subs get at least 1 hit in the first round is ~55.56%. The easiest way to think about it is what is the chance of both subs missing? The answer is (4/6) * (4/6) = 4/9 = 44.44% so the chance that 1 or both hit is 100% - 44.44% = 55.56%. So the battle calc is pretty close given you only have it set to 400 run count.”
Guess i should have read Herr Kaleun’s post a little closer :)
Yea the tank needs help if you add mobile artillery. Baron ended up suggesting it gets +1 D when paired with tank. That seems to work pretty good in my test games.
So it’s A2 D2 M2, can blitz by itself but provides no blitz ability to other units. Gives +1 A to infantry and mech infantry. Cost 5 and give +1 D to tank
NWO has a cool Bunker unit.
{snip}And NWO would be what, exactly? Curious Minds Want to Know…
-Midnight_Reaper
Heh Heh “New World Order” on triplea : )
NWO has a cool Bunker unit.
I have it at A0 D3 2 hit C5. Can only place one per round. Can only place up to territory level ( so 3 TT only can have 3 total ). All TT’s get at least 1
Also require infantry to be present to build and repair.
Hi Slip
Don’t Know if there is a kick ass bracket looking thing. Probably same link : )
Hi BFaith
Welcome to the Boards ! I’m not sure how long Anniversary will be available. Imo, you can’t go wrong purchasing one. That way you’ll have it :)
You could give oztea’s 41 setup a try as well. It’s pretty much instant action. Provides a lot of strategy options as well.
I Getcha Arghotair :-D
The move 4 though is, idk to me. Loading and ( to a lesser extent ) unloading seem like they shouldn’t be counted as moves.
Anyway Good to talk to you : ) Not trying to be challenging : )
Oh, gosh, Barney, lots of reasons!
- Hauling 2 infantry isn’t as good as hauling 1 infantry + 1 tank
- Air transports can be preemptively shot down by AA guns, which would also kill the cargo
- Air transports have a deceptively short range; a sea transport can deliver infantry from London to Morocco, but (absent a forward landing base like Gibraltar) an air transport can’t.
- Air transports can only ferry infantry on non-combat; if you want to deliver the equivalent of two infantry during a combat move, you have to pay 9 for the transport + 10 for two elite units, for a total of $19 – almost 50% more than a sea transport with 2 infantry (7 + 3 + 3 = $13).
CWO Marc, we could call the small local ship a “Gunboat” or even a “Coastal Gunboat.” I hesitate to call them “fast attack craft” because they have less move than an average ship, and they’re intended more to defend your coastline than to launch a strategic offensive, and because most units only have one or two words in their name, not three words.
Not really following Argo.
Ncm transports can’t be shot at. Their range is 5, 6 with AB.
I’m seeing Air transport being able to move 2 infantry up to 5 or 6 spaces in ncm.
More movement than a sea transport. Moves same amount of units.
I like the idea of air transports being able to haul AA and artillery. As others have already mentioned you would want to let them haul 2 infantry. Otherwise you wouldn’t haul infantry hardly at all, probably : )
My question is, If you allow air to transport 2 infantry why would you use sea transport ? Increased cost I guess is a possible solution but, it just doesn’t seem right to have a air transport be able to haul as much as a sea transport.
Imo : )
Holy Smokes ! That’s Awesome ! I’m going with all the bells and whistles : )
Thanks radar !
Anything but Zombies. It’s more likely they could have had robots in WW 2 than zombies. Zombies aren’t a real thing, you might as well have leprechauns or easter bunnies.
Wait…You mean the “Easter Bunny” isn’t real ?
