    • RE: Language

I went to St. Petersbug last summer for three weeks and it was real neat. I picked up a little Russian. I will be starting German this semester, though if it was a bigger school and they offered Russian I would have chosen Russian. I’ll be majoring in English and History. I can count to three in about six laguages and to ten in two or three of them.

Bulgarian. What is that most closely related to? I’m just curious.

Gibraltar doesn’t carry any IPC’s, so can a factory there produce anything? It’s a good idea, but I don’t have the rule book handy, and I don’t remember what it said about that. Spain is a pretty appealing tactic though. I’ve yet to try it but it sounds good in theory.

Perhaps it wouldn’t be a bad idea to do that Canada mod. on all games, not just this scenario? 8)

Just an out of the blue question here, when do I get addict status? 100 posts?

    • RE: 'God', the Facist

How can your god be more valid if you cannot prove him with logic ?

No religion is able to make a logical, without any fallacies, argument for the concept of god,

I would like to ask if you have read, or heard any of C.S. Lewis’s stuff.

I can see what you’re saying there. But with no pressure from U.S., Ger. has a little more room. Of course that’s the idea, but they may utilize that to slap U.K. around a little bit. We’d have to play it to find out, but that’s what we’re thinking. Over all I think it’s a good variation. :D

Dittos EmuGod, that was well said. Even if it is a rudementary reason for worshiping God, it is definitly a good place to start.

    • RE: Karelian Complex… dumb question

Now, were there any other attempts on high level commanders during the war? I guess Yam. just pulled the short straw! Poor guy, from what I know about Pearl Harbor & such he was just doing what he was told, correct? Kind of like a Gen. Lee, very brilliant, just on the losing side. :(

Yeah, I just wanted a screen name associated with WW2, and chose bangalore. They are a sort of pipe bomb with fittings on the ends so that they can be screwed together and stretched across a beach and over to the barbed wire in question. Pretty cool gadget!

Any history on the name Runenzorn? I like the sound of it.

I like your suggestion Mose, strategic importance should be a factor in the value of territories. Plus, since Germany is uninhibited it would be good to help Russia out a little.

The first idea sounds interesting, but I too feel sorry for the loser that gets stuck with U.K.! It would be worth a try to see how it works!

    • RE: Would be interesting to play heroes!

      …Yeah, Sad Sack, that’s right.

This would have to be a very simple thing. The hero/general/model/cartoon would be on the board at the beginning of the game, if they get killed (they personally would have an attack/defend of 0/1) they’re out, and that’s it. If you can buy more, they wouldn’t be as special, and all anbody would do is spend their money on Betty Grables :P (Heck, I’d do it! But that’s not what the game’s about.) We obviously know all the american heros, what we need to do is research some for the other countries. Oh, maybe they should start at their respective capitals? What do you think?

America had those two guys in that cartoon, you know what I’m talking about… I forget the name. (Where they’re always in a foxhole and it’s raining and they’re muddy.) :)

    • RE: Would be interesting to play heroes!

Yeah, that sounds kind of cool. I think some guy mentioned that he did that, but it was just one unit per country (You’d have five heros on the board). He did some crazy*ss thing like cutting the guys up so you could tell them apart! I think it’d be best if you put names on them. Russia: Vasily Sitzev (inf.), U.S. : Joe Foss (ftr), Germany: uhhh , Japan: uhhh , U.K. …… Ok, forget that! Maybe you could do something with the leaders, like if your Hitler guy is in a territory he makes everything there defend at +2 or 3.

    • RE: Test

I’m referring to the concept of morality. (Do you mean it’s more ok to “beat and kill” whites than non-whites? You don’t want to be accused of racism do you?) :o Don’t get me wrong: I don’t have anything against blacks (or non-whites as you say), it’s just that I get kind of ticked when people can’t find anything better to do than say that “white men” are the worst thing to happen to civilization.

Ozone, I’m going to have to continue to disagree with you. This is not personal, I just think I’m right! :P

“Yeah, this guy was a cavalry genius, but the fact that a man of his dubious moral calibre could achieve high command in the Army of the Confederacy is a testament to that institution’s moral degeneracy.”

So how do you want to explain Bill Clinton? Don’t tell me he doesn’t have a “dubious moral calibre”! Why do we let the media continue to cover the jerk? Why did he “achieve a high command”? This crap is on both sides of the political spectrum, and I just get tired of only hearing about it on the conservative side.

Finsterni, what do you think those Jap civilians would have done to themselves anyway; if the US ended up invading the homeland? They would have either been forced to fight or commited suicide! Ever hear about Saipan?

The A bombs were COMPLETELY justified! Anyone who knows anything about how maniacal the Japs were in that war knows that they were put out of their misery, and many more, probably more Japs than Americans would have died had the invasion taken place. 'Nuff said.

Forrest got out of the KKK when it got too violent for him. If there were more “monsters” instead of Hoods and Braggs the war would have been different, most likely shorter. Believe me. 'Nuff said.

    • RE: Favorite country

You could probably compile a good collection to post on the strategy page just from this forum, there’s some pretty good stuff to be found here. Then you could provide a link to the topic on the forum where it was originally posted. That way a surfer could get straight to the point, and if he wanted to could read what other people thought about it in the ensuing discussion.

(Yanny this may be better posted in the “website discussion” forum, but I wanted to reply to the above.)

    • RE: 3 submarines = 1 battleship ?%%????

Granted, that would be terrifying, but what’s happening in asia while russia beats the crap out of ger.? This navy would cost so much you couldn’t build a land force. Japan does start with a large navy, but it’s kind of spread out at the begining, and would take a while to assemble.

I will agree with you tactically, it is a good theory. Two questions: Have you tried this? Did you win?
