    • Hey Imperious, would you mind if i put a survey on here? for a good cause

      my new job has me out in manhattan.  i work for a start up company called flexwage and basically we have a service that gives employees access to wages already earned.  so say if you live paycheck to paycheck(us young bucks) and your cars takes a crap on you, instead of having to go to a payday loan/cash advance type place and pay outrageous amounts of interest, you can just access your wages already earned.  so if you get paid every 2 weeks or monthly, whatever you earned up to then you could get.

      right now, my project is setting up a survey, but the crap part is now i have to go out on the street and try to get people to take the 15 question survey.  people in manhattan are pushy, and treat me like a leper.  Or worse.  Some people are cool, but most won’t give me the time of day.  Safe to say this part of the project sucks,……badly.

      i just wanted to know if you’d be ok with me putting the survey up here for anyone to take if they want to.  It’s quick and easy, and people could win a 50 dollar visa gift card if you win the random picks we do of emails at the end.

      let me know, thanks guys.

    • RE: The reason the west went to war with germany is pure BS

      @Octospire:

      I respect the sacrifice of the American people in WW2, but by the same token thats what comes with being top dog you have to protect those not strong enough to protect themselves and help mediate disputes so they dont turn into wars in the first place.

      The Americans were conned into nothing, if anything it was reckless and irresponsible not to get involved earlier and make sure a war didnt occur in the first place. Even if the war was inevitability the U.S with the help of the British and French could of crushed the Germans in September 1939. I think it speaks volumes about American politicians that it was the British who stood up and fought against Germany even though it had by far the most to lose and in the end sacrificed its empire at the altar of freedom because the Americans were “busy” from September 1939 to December 1941.
      The problem with America is it wants desperately to not be like the British empire unfourtunetly thats more or less the way they should be bar the colonial oppression. They have to realise that you can take the positives of the British empire and leave the negatives and shape the world you want it to, or at least they could of before they made everyone hate them.

      i just watched an episode of ww2 in color and it said that in july 1940 in a poll, only 8 percent of the american people wanted any part of another bloodbath brought to the world by europeans.  have far as americans were concerned, the europeans could go to hell.  And thats exactly what i think too. Why should american boys go and die over a power squabble b/w the elites of european nations?

      the very fact that the war monger FDR even tried to conjole americans into war to get 200k+ americans men killed is terrible.  our nation is founded on being the will of the people, and our elected officials being servamts and subserviant to the people.

      the very fact that america had to do everything in its power to antagonize japan into attacking so the europeans could get america into their war is just criminal.

      this is irregardless of you moral question of it was “better” that americans should go get killed and kill for a nation that it not their own

    • The reason the west went to war with germany is pure BS

      England and France said they would go to war to protect poland from invasion.  Then when poland is invaded they say this is the reason for war.  so they delcare war on germany.

      But what about the soviet union.  why in hell didnt they declare war on the soviet union?

      i’ll tell you why……b/c protecting poland wasn’t the reason to go to war.  it was one group of elites trying to protect their wealth against another group of elites.

      then those warmongers for the second time in a row conned america into joining a war effort b/c the aristocratic elites of the allied powers knew they couldnt beat germany without american help.  so they kept trying to devise ways to either con germany into attacking america by having america carry out overt acts of non neutrality by using american destroyers to protect american lend lease shipments.  when the germans didnt sink any ameircan vessels, they decided to goad japan into attacking america.

      America was once again suckered into fighting a war that was not its war to fight.  So many midwestern boys died to european artistocrats could keep wealth and power its sickening.

      what say you guys.  ever wonder why england and france never declared war on the USSR for invading poland?

      i like the WWI eastern fronts, especially hungary vs russia

      the undermentioned southern fronts in the balkans and italy are great to learn about too.  the turkish front with the uk attempted invasion.  The arab jihad movement.  Hell, the fighting in africa is great to learn about along with jockeying done in the far east.

      another poster mentioned the mind numbing crap about the western front, and thats true.

      you’d think that with hitlers idea at the bitter end that germany should be destroyed b/c they failed him, that he’d order chemical bombardments of at least the soviet army that was on the outskirts of berlin.

    • RE: Strategy Talk: Is the German Wehrmacht of World War II Over Rated?

      @Subotai:

      @Imperious:

      Right… just like in Poland and Paris.

      Russia was more powerful than France and Poland combined, and the Russian territories + winter was much easier to defend than Poland and France. Not saying that Germany couldn’t take Moscow if Germany went 100% against it, but it is very unsure how long the Germans could hold Moscow, even if they succeeded, and chances for Germany taking Moscow in 41-42 was less than 50%.

      without US aid assistance via lend lease, without the allied strategic bombing campaign tying up much of the luftwaffe and anti air defenses, and without the threat of invasion keeping millions of german soldiers in europe, the soviets would have been smashed before they could ever set up a counter attack.  if moscow was taken, the people would give up on their communist overlords and capitulate.

    • German losses at stalingrad

      i heard on a show lately that the german army lost 1/4 of all supplies and material that the germans ever produced in the ENTIRE SECOND WAR!

      i was like whaaaaaaa?!

      is this accurate?  it makes sense of a lot of things for me.  by number losses of troops alone i always thought that the germans should be able to recoup their losses by their volunteer campaigns in occupied territories, or by forcing human labor in the territories occupied to free up more german men to be put into the wehrmacht.

      1/4 of all supplies produced lost is staggering.

      makes you wonder why in the hell Hitler didnt allow a tactical retreat from the area after the soviets counterattacked en masse.

      the question is this. is the 1/4 loss number accurate?

    • RE: Germany first

      okay, he dropped his argument about the pacific theater getting most of the supplies.

      the little moron still insists that it would be impossible for japan to invade eastern siberia b/c of terrain.  he still wont accept that its possible.  hell, i told him the japs army had plans for the invasion until their navy attacked pearl harbor, i even showed him that the japs had already invaded eastern siberia in WWI and that it is possible to move an army around there.  i even showed him how the white guards and red guards moved troops around in siberia in the russian civil war.

      he’s still adamant that its impossible to move troops/an army around in such a location due to the weather and conditions of siberia.

      am i wrong?  i’m pretty sure i’m not.  the dude is just ahem an asshat.

      is there anything else i can throw at him to make him see the light?  does anyone have any links to perhaps the japanese invasion plans in full detail?  or just a link talking about how the plans existed?  thanks much for any help.

    • RE: Germany first

      @Imperious:

      Can you re post his argument?  I am not sure if he is saying we send more of our forces to fight Japan than Germany?

      If this is his argument he is wrong.

      Yeah like what 10 miles into the wasteland?To what political or strategic gain?

      The whole point of this coming up from wondering “Why did Japan attack the U.S. instead of going after Russia?” I think it’s pretty damn clear at this point why.

      Unfeasible/impossible to get an army in the 40’s through Siberia militarily and for any strategic gain.

      i aruged about the japanese/russia spats before the war where japan got handled.  he was trying to make it sound that there was nothing in siberia.  i was arguing the japs wanted the resources.  they decided to get the resources in south pacific instead.

      and this

      Yeah that’s cool and all but agreeing to fighting “Germany First” was completely on paper. If you look at the statistics and secret plans of the time we were spending much more equipment and time on Japan for most of the war

      i’m pretty sure much more equipment went to fighting hitler.  via lendlease to uk and ussr and america’s own military strength

      most of america’s supplies went to combating germany first correct guys?

      even though japan attacked america, america decided along with the UK that the best strategy was to take out germany first.

      i’m debating this guy on another forum and he calls these claims “revisionist” so i was wondering if offhand you guys had any info or sources/websites that would give info.

      guadalcanal
      the new spring 1942 versions of the game(what exactly is different in these games from the old versions?)

      the soviets gameplan(as always) of winning through sheer superiority in numbers of soldiers and equipment didnt work well when they couldnt move through the snowy forests.  They got eaten alive until they thought “what we need is even more troops, tanks, planes, and supplies.  A ridiculous amount even”

      then they had their victory.
