      I guess it helps to think of the AC of having an attack value of zero. This means that it can be in with the combat move. (Also transports have an attack value of zero, but must be chosen last.)  Things that do NOT have an attack value are: AA guns, Naval Bases, Air Bases, Industrial Complexes.

      When I release the new module, should I include it in this thread, since it is an evolution of the current module in this thread and related questions may apply to both modules, or should I start a brand new thread, since the two are not compatible and people will likely be installing/playing both modules simultaneously?

      Please make a brand new thread.  IF any important information from the other thread is needed it can be linked to. If a new person is looking for ABattleMap AAP40, the thread should be as short as possible.  :-D

      … but this time you guys are getting a little peak into the interior.  We wanted you guys to be on the “cutting edge” of the updates, and the price you pay is a little waffling.  I’ve tried to not publish anything until it’s 100% settled, but sometimes decisions change.  I have to weigh certainty against giving you guys the corrections as quickly as possible.

      Maybe we should look at ourselves as helpers to the process, and a little less as a demanding final product customer when it comes to the Errata.  :-)

      Now that the game is out for more than a month, AND people are playing Pacific 1940 on ABattleMap (thank you Stoney229), what is your opinion of balance?

      Yes I am. 1 game in old p40 and 1 game in Beta.

      Perhaps I can graduate this BETA module to a [formerly beta] regular module, giving it the same name as the original.  I was hesitating to remove the BETA label, since some of these new features may have a few kinks that will need ironed out as time goes by, but I think removing the label is the best bet.  So as of right now, I will be releasing the new module (when it comes) with the new toolpieces including the 4 red ones, will be naming the module “Axis & Allies: Pacific 1940”, and the directory “P40.gim”.  Let me know if anyone has different opinions or suggestions (…questions, concerns, comments, etc…!).  Thanks all for your input!

      how about calling it Gamma until the bugs are worked out. (The next one can be Delta  8-) )

      It is fine to have several test versions.  By use we are testing for your final product i.e. “The Stoney Pacific '40”

      How can China even have the money to buy artillery? Even if the road is opened, I only buy infantry because you are usually always on the defensive.

      If your income is 13 and the road is open 3 inf, 1 art… very possible, and useful to grab a territory here and there…

      I’m of the opinion (with $13ipc) to buy 3art and save $1ipc.  Buy as many as you can, you may only get 1 chance to buy art. Then the China hoard can move about (if that is a good strat for the situation you are in) and buy inf latter; without being tied to the Burma Road area.

      I’ve been thinking about this some more, and I have some further thoughts.

      I don’t think that UK/ANZAC planes should be allowed to land on Dutch or French territories while they’re still Dutch or French controlled, unless they are at war.

      I assume the Dutch have already lost their capital.

      How does one declared war on a fallen country?

      Unless the UK and ANZAC are at war, not the Dutch or French.

      Question:  Do people want this new feature?  I’m not sure I don’t like it better the old way, because I can just hover over the marker to see what I need in order to obtain that objective.

      I very much prefer it the old way!

      I like that I can hover over the National Objectives to see what to go for, OR what to do to prevent the other side from getting theirs.  Or a quick check–-delete some of the NO’s from the other side to see what their income would be if I took away a NO or two (or three  :-D).

      Nor did I imply that Don Rae’s tactics apply here. Let me spell it out for you.  The general reference was to major purchasing mistakes would cost you the game.

      I too have a problem with the ‘simple math’ line of reasoning.

      If the gameboeard was 2 nations and 3 total territories, then the ‘simple math’ would apply in this purchasing slugfest.  But, there are many, Many, MANY other factors like: how many transports are avaible, factory production limits, distance away, etc.  All of these cannot use ‘simple math’ to decide purchases.

      Of cousre, as Don Rae wrote in his essays that if your purchases are way off, it will really hurt your game.

      But to say ‘never buy such and such a unit, because it is not worth it’, is going too far.
