    • RE: Can allies share air,naval bases?

      Yes they can, unless the air base is damaged(3 or more damage points.) (Can also share naval bases too!)

    • RE: Aircraft Range Markers - for all games

      Thank you for lining up the markers on equal spacing on the sheet.

      This allowed me to glue two sheets (110 lb cardstock) back to back (zeros back to zeros & eights back to eights) using spray adhesive, then cut apart.

      Now the Aircraft Range Markers are thicker and numbered the same on each side.  No need to flip a marker over to see what number I need when it is in the pile/dish/container/or compartment.

      Thanks again!  :-D

      New Zealand does not have an IC!

      From the Errata

      Errata
      Setup: The following errors exist in the setup cards:
      United States: Add an airbase and a naval base to the Philippines.
      ANZAC: Remove the minor industrial complex from New Zealand, and change the major industrial complex in New South Wales to a minor industrial complex.

    • RE: Axis and Allies Money!!

      I am glad the money is gone and resources used for other game parts.

      Too many mistakes with money.

      “Opps, did I pay the bank?”

      “I forgot the pay the bank.”

      “I grabbed the wrong country’s money.”

      “I put my cash back on the wrong countries pile of money”

      “Whose countries IPC’s are on the floor?”

      “I forgot to collect income last time, how much am I suppose to get?”

    • RE: What's the first thing you'll do upon getting Europe 1940?

      @questioneer:

      Check out the box
      Open box
      Look at all the contents inside
      Look at map for several minutes
      Break open pieces and punch-outs
      Set it up as Euro40 to observe then quickly to Global40 and observe while reading through the instuctions.
      Master instructions (shouldn’t be hard since all the work was done in Pac40)
      Set up weekend game night with friends.
      Strategize and Dominate.
      :-)

      I will do almost the same as Questioneer, except for
      “Break open pieces and punch-outs”

      Punch out only what is necessary for setup and play. (I have done this with past A&A games)

      When a country needs another cardboard chit, I go get one.

      That way some things (like Control Markers) some countries only need 1-3 of are out there, and the rest of the seldom used chits are not cluttering the chit bowl blocking our vision of the most needed and most used chits.

      Then years later when some needed more Control Markers of a certain country, one can claim, “We have a new record of territories controlled by So-and-So country!” (Yeah, get your geek on.)

    • RE: How useful are cruisers??

      @gamerman01:

      The cruiser is always going to be the least purchased unit in the game, coming in last place even after AA guns and artillery.  There are still good reasons to buy them - but not very often at all.

      Agreed!
      Think about AA Classic and the limits in buying navy. (only 3 types of attack units)

      The cruiser helps out in some buying options.

    • RE: Pic of AAP40 & AAE40 side-by-side

      India will not have two “bumps”! So stop claiming that it will.

      Proof? –-Take out your AAP40 map (if you do not have an AAP40 then go buy one) and closely look at India.

      Now follow the India coastline to the back of the game board.

      See how the coastline is still going southeast.

      Depending on where the black backer paper is, you can see 5-6mm (1/4") of the AAE40 map.

      On my game board I can see some of the boarder separating E. India from W. India.

      Just like on the other edge of the same board is 5-6mm (1/4") of the other half of AAP40 map.

      I can see—
        —part of the"M" of Marianas (SeaZone 22),
        — half of the “G” of New Guinea
        — half of the “Q” of Queensland
        — half of the “N” of New South Wales

      The bottom of India on the AAP40 map is NOT the southern tip of India.

      The coastline continues southeast a few millimeters on the AAE40 map before heading northeast.

    • RE: How useful are cruisers??

      @a44bigdog:

      Ahh someone from the accounting school of Axis and Allies

      Axis & Allies is not an accounting game.

      It does not always necessarily matter that a unit take out its IPC value to be of worth. Especially if you can replace the losses easier than your opponent.

      True that!

      If someone defeats you AND they purchased cruisers, do NOT cry that there is something wrong with the rules!

      Just realize that you were outplayed and that the winner understood that each unit has its place and purpose.

      In a game, every unit may or may not be purchased or used, but it is there if needed.

    • RE: Will AAE be better than AAG?

      @brettstarr4:

      • Do you think AAG will be better than AAE?, not AAP beter than AAE, I think we all agree AAE is better than AAP.

      I for one (and maybe alone in this thinking) preferred Pacific to Europe.  Classic got stale with only buying “men & tanks, men & tanks, men & tanks, …and who can buy the best combo of men & tanks.”

      I did buy the old Pacific and NOT the Europe for that reason.  With Pacific, the buying was different and not boring and stale.

      Maybe number crunchers prefer Europe because there are fewer variables.

      I look forward to playing AAG40 and not AAE40.

    • RE: Europe 1940 shows up on Wizards site…with screenshot

      @Imperious:

      We already know of one thing… India does not match up with the other board… It will look like the bottom of a milking cow. ( two peaks)

      If you look at the back of your AAP40 game board, the Indian coast is still going South and West.

      On my game board, the black backer paper is away from the edge far enough that I could see the border dividing India into more than one territory.

      @Stoney229:

      So, assuming I will be able to work on these modules when Europe comes out, which one would people like to begin playing first?  Europe or Global?  If there is a consensus, then that is the one I will work on first.

      Global!  :-) :-D :mrgreen:

    • RE: Starting Bids

      @kaufschtick:

      @BadSpeller:

      ….or, some do a sealed bid.

      Each person writes down a number and then reveals the bid. (The lower number plays the Allies and places units and/or cash as outlined by jim010)

      This prevents auctioning the bid down because you know you can get your opponent to go lower. (even though you may not want to win the bid to play the Allies.)

      Hey, that’s a good idea, I kinda like that.

      I should also mention that because Japan plays first, (and the Allies after) that ‘The Bid’ should include were the units and/or IPCs should be placed before play starts.

      This speeds things up a lot.

      Now the person playing Japan may start right away with his/hers ABattleMap moves. (It also speeds up F2F games as well).

      @kaufschtick:

      Well, my best friend feels that 40 is a good starting point to begin playing with.

      What kind of bid would you be using?

      Just $40IPC to Allies?

      Pregame placement of $40IPC of units?

      There is a large difference in the worth of these 2 examples!

      looks awesome.  only issue I have is calling heavy bombers strategic bombers.  don’t fix it for me, we don’t use these :)

      Please do not call these ‘heavy bombers’, for this is a Tech in AA50 and might be a Tech in 1940 Global.

    • RE: FAQ Update

      @MaherC:

      Yes, I corrected it, because I wanted it to be clear that you can’t ATTACK on US3 unless provoked.  Sure, you are “at war” at the END of US3.  But you can’t do anything aggressive until US4.   You are “at war” so you can get +40 to use in US4.  But for all intents, you are not “at war” until US4.

      So many people post in here with questions that are obvious if they were to read the rulebook (yes, there is confusion over some things, but you should know that you can’t use kamikazes on J1!)  I blame twitter.  Kids can’t read or process more than 140 characters.

      MaherC is correct.  The US is at war during US3  Income Phase (at the lastest), which is after Purchases, Combat Movement, and Combat are done and over with.  If, Japan did not attack on J3, the US may not attack Japan on US3 either.

      @Craig:

      And Krieghund is doing more than you can possible imagine to try and fix the problems that are there now.

      ….  Larry and Krieghund are working hard …

      While I share your unhappiness with what has transpired, Krieghund shouldn’t be the target of your disgust.  He happens to be here dealing with the situation, taking your concerns and presenting them to the proper people.  Keep sending in your emails, letters, and phone calls to WotC so that the information that is being presented by Krieghund is being validated by your independent voice.

      Agreed, please stop targeting anger at Krieghund.  The Errata if unofficial after all, and is a work in progress. And, AND, AND, he answers own questions again and again, many of which have been answered more that once.  Please cut Kreighund some slack. :-D
