    • RE: E40 and G40 ABattlemap modules preview

      I would like all the bonuses to be in one area. I did not like hunting all over the map to check to see if all the bonuses were correct.

      However you decide, I would like to see all the NO’s in one area (instead of all over the map).

      Most of that is correct.  The planes get 1 space to move. If the island is in the same sea zone, that would be ok. If the island is the ajacent sea zone, that would be 2 movement points.

      The AAP40 changes were posted for many to test these changes. They are not official. Please help test them for balance.

      @ finnman-my test game is starting the 4th round. Japan only has 2 land units in India and no land units in asia. Japan has a pile of planes and naval near Burma. US will build a Major IC next turn with 14 Russian inf to hold it.US air sweeps removed the last 4 land units in China. China has 15inf?, 4art, 1ftr. I want to test WHY not to do a J1 attack.

    • RE: Pacific Changes, and how they could affect global balance, DOW, and other things

      I tried it in my Global test game, and did a Japan1 attack with a J3 India crush.

      Not a good plan.

      Things that mess it up:

      -18 Russian inf.

      -Uk goes before China (UK might open the Burma Road before China’s turn).

      -18 Russian inf.

      -French DD from Africa comes to block shore bombard on India.

      -18 Russian inf.

      -China cannot be cleared when if taking India on J3.

      -Naval base in NSW a BIG help to ANZAC (and a pain to Japan’s ‘leave everything empty behind you as you go’ plan).

      Oh, and there is -18 Russian inf.

      Time will tell if this is too much for Global.

      I should have waited for J2 to DOW.

    • RE: AAP40 FAQ

      Kreighund, a China rule question.

      AAP40 Rule page 9

      “Kwangtung and Burma are special
      cases. While they are not Chinese
      territories and cannot be controlled
      by China, Chinese forces can attack
      Axis units there and occupy them, but
      the IPCs generated go to the United
      Kingdom (unless India is under Axis
      control). These are the only non-
      Chinese territories that Chinese units
      can occupy.”

      The “…IPCs generated go to the United Kingdom (unless India is under Axis control).” part is my question.

      **Q:**May China get receive the IPC’s from Kwangtung and/or Burma if India has fallen?
      (It does not say China may get the IPCs, only that IPCs go to the UK. Nor does it state that China does not receive IPCs either(If India is under Axis control).

    • RE: 2 v 2 what allies are who?

      It makes a difference if the game is Face-to-Face or by PBEM/forum.

      If by forum I would want UK/ANZAC powers or the US/China/France powers to be the same player. (Faster turn around time for playing).  Either player could play Russia.

    • RE: Rasterbate it!

      @plumsmugler:

      … image file David put up in the most recent preview of the game and bam!  You have an exact replica of the new board.  Just use the pieces you have from your other Axis and Allies games and you can start play testing today!  Voila!

      I printed out the AAE40 map (with the computor printer) from the high res photo using 12 sheets (8.5"x11") of cardstock taped and glued together.

      Looks rough, but my AAE40 game will not arrive untill the 26th.

      I used units from AA50, Revised, some mordern type exspandtion (For Mech Inf, Jets as Tac Bombers) and lastly; old Xeno Blue French units(it even had DD’s)!

    • Krieghund, a map question.

      Krieghund,

      Does Central America (Panama) border Venezuela?

      Or (the real question) may land units go from Central America (Panama) to Venezuela without using a transport?

    • RE: US IPC question

      Based on my test game, and the Global NO’s that are know at this point, the incomes are high for many players.

      IPC Income at the end of round 1 with NO’s

      Germany   =67 (France fell)
      Russia      =37
      Japan       =41 (J1 attack)
      UK Europe=30
      UK Pacific =18 (Larry’s new alternate setup that is being tested by fourm)
      Anzac      =18
      Italy        =29 (10+9+10 NO)
      US           =84 (52+2 Brazil+30 NO)
      China       =16 (10+6 Burma Road)
      France      =0

      EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to enter the US

      @TexCapPrezJimmy:

      I don’t think the UK can spare the IPCs, but…

      Good luck with that.

      Maybe, when the Allies are already winning, this could speed up the end game.  UK has too many other things to worry about.

    • RE: Carriers attacking transports to retreat, can they?

      One can not pick and choose the retreat rules to fit their liking. The rules say units must retreat to the same space, even though they came from multiple sides.

    • RE: Carriers attacking transports to retreat, can they?

      Then your ‘warp drive’ thinking would have to apply to all retreating units, land and sea. When units retreat from a tt, inf move 2 spaces, and armor may end up moving 3. This is not about your house rules but the real rules.

    • RE: Carriers attacking transports to retreat, can they?

      @Krieghund:

      @Wilson2:

      Can two carriers attack a transport and then retreat after one round of not combat to get one of them to move 3 (or 4 with NB)?

      This one is tricky.  Based on the rules as written, my initial response is no.  However, I’m conferring with Larry on the subject to get a final answer.

      @Wilson2:

      Can you choose to roll dice with your ships against transports instead of removing them instantly to do the same thing with ships with attack values?

      No.

      Krieghund, I take issue with this.

      Aircraft carriers have an attack value of zero.

      They have the right to attack naval units!

      Yes, their attack value is the poorest roll possible, but do not limit someone’s strategy when that strategy is in line with the rules.

      Please don’t remove that right because it does not seem right in a rarely obscure chance of the ‘AC Transport Bypass Loophole’.

    • RE: Split UK Units

      The UK has but one turn.

      It is the purchasing, mobilizing, and income that are kept separate.  Units form the Europe board my freely go to the Pacific side and vice versa.

      The split income is to prevent 45ish IPC of stuff being put in London at the same time.

    • RE: Neutral Activation

      @Flashman:

      Can a plane land in a pro-neutral in the same non-combat movement phase in which the land unit moves in to activate that neutral, or must it wait till the next turn as per conquered territory?

      I would guess that fit in with the ‘can only land in tt that you owned at the start of your turn’ concept.

      “Your air units cannot land in territories you just captured, whether they were involved in the combat or not”(AAP40 rulebook page 26 pargraph 1)

    • RE: Italy

      @WILD:

      There’s no way you can ignore the possibility of a German Sea Lion. From what Emp_T and djensen have said the UK navy will take a pounding early on (as it normally does). Germany can now move its fleet out of the Baltic and add to it w/W German & Normandy IC’s. The UK has to add to its air force early in the game, not start moving it away from England. UK is also going to need to build a bunch of dd’s to fight the German subs. They need to clear the Atlantic to get an NO, plus they can’t afford to lose $ due to convoys. I also think that a UK minor IC build in Egypt could back fire if you don’t attack the Italian navy (BB, CA , tpt) UK1.

      I agree, there has been a lot of wild talk about “all the UK has to do is….this or that, buy tons O stuff and…”.
      Yeah, UK is going to shrink in size real fast and have a lot more to worry about.
