    • RE: Brand New Alpha+.2

      @Stoney229:

      Actually, I haven’t tried the first one, but I downloaded Badspeller’s revised one and it looks like he used a different module to create the file - or actually it looks like he renamed his newer module (G40.gim) to the name of an older module (F40.gim) (not a good idea) - probably to continue a game he had going with the older module.  Anyway, the point is it looks like you’ll have to rename your G40.gim folder to F40.gim if you want to open BadSpeller’s Alpha+2 setup.

      Thank you for pointing out that error, Stoney.
      I have removed that post (with the file) so that it will not be downloaded anymore.

      At the time I posted that file for Alpha+.2, I had not update the ABattleMap yet. :oops:

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ Alpha+.2

      Krieghund,

      Subject :SBR Alpha+.2

      AAE40 Rulebook page16>Strategic Bombing Raids>par2 "Fighters (not tactical bombers) can also participate in strategic bombing raids as escorts and interceptors.

      Alpha+.2 Rule #8> Strategic Bombing Raids procedure:
      • Escorts fire @1, and interceptor casualties are immediately removed.
      • Bombers fire @ 1 and interceptors fire @ 2. Remove bomber and interceptor casualties (escorts may be taken as casualties only after all bombers are eliminated).
      • Surviving bombers are assigned a specific target (IC, airbase or naval base) if more than one type is in the territory.
      • The target fires its AA defenses at the attacking aircraft - @1
      • Surviving bombers attack their target, looking for the highest number possible.

      1. Should the first line read, “• Escorts fire @1, and Escorts casualties are immediately removed.”

      2. About the second line.  For clarity, which bombers are these?

      I assume it means the defenders Strategic Bombers because it is mentioned in the same line as the interceptors.
      Or does it mean Tactical Bombers? Or both?

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ Alpha+.2

      Alpha+.2 Rules
      12. The United States Navy, while being neutral, has the following movement restrictions. It can only move to sea zones that are adjacent to US territories in the Atlantic (more specifically Sea zones 101, 89 and 64). US warships (not transports) may also conduct long range patrols into sea zone 102. In the Pacific it can only end naval movements in sea zones that are not adjacent to Japanese-controlled territories and islands.

      What does it meant by “conduct long range patrols into sea zone 102.”?

      Attacks while neutral?

    • AAG40 FAQ Alpha+.2

      AAG40 FAQ for Alpha+.2 Only (This is based on changes from Alpha+.1)

      (For OOB (Out Of the Box) questions please refer to the other thread.)

      National Objectives have changed:
      –-----------------------------------------------------------
      Have the starting IPCs changed?
      The only income change is the U.K., which is now 28 IPCs (London) and 17 IPCs (Calcutta).  (TwistedAries Jan 14,2011)

      What’s happened to the US NO of boosting income at war?
      The US NO has been reduced and broken up into smaller blocks.   (Krieghund Jan 14,2011)

      Scrambling (has gone coastal):

      If German naval units are moving into the channel, and Germany attacks UK navy, can planes scramble to assist from UK?
      Yes, in sea zones 109 and 110.   (Krieghund Jan 14,2011)

      Major Industrial Complexes (IC) on foreign soil, not allowed:

      What about the territories of Shantung and Kiangsu?
      These are Japanese controlled at the beginning of the game, but show a Chinese symbol on them.
      Can Japan build a Major IC on these territories?
      No.
      From the AAP40 Rulebook, page 9:Quote
      Chinese territories on the game board have a Nationalist Chinese nationality symbol on them.  Some of these territories begin the game already under Japanese control.  They still are considered Chinese territories for purposes of original ownership.
      (Gargantua,kcdzim,Krieghund Jan 19-20,2011)

      A major IC may only be built on a non-island territory with your symbol printed on it and an IPC value of 3 or higher.
      A minor IC may be built on any non-island territory with an IPC value of 2 or higher.  (Krieghund Jan 20,2011)

      Say I’m Germany. The US takes West Germany. Major IC there becomes Minor while held by the Americans.
      Then Germany re-takes it. Does Germany have to pay the 17ipc to upgrade the IC again? or does that happen automatically?
      Germany must pay to upgrade recaptured ICs.  The cost is 20 IPCs. (Slacker,Krieghund Jan 20,2011)

      Other Questions:

      If the U.K.on turn 1 declares war on Japan, can Japan on J2 enter the Dutch East Indies? or is this a DOW against America?
      Japan may attack the Dutch territories without bringing the US into the war (or losing its trade NO, if using the Alpha rules). (Krieghund Jan 20,2011)
      Just to clarify, this is only because UK declared war on Japan first. (Krieghund Jan 21,2011)

      SBR

      With alpha2 SBR rules when attacking multiple targets in the same square (1 srtat bomb on factory, 2 tacs on airbase, 3 escorts) do you have to assig escorts for each separate attack and interceptors for each or do the interceptors fire at the entire attacking airforce?
      There is only one air battle per territory.  After the air battle is resolved, the bombers are assigned individual targets within the territory. (Krieghund Jan 22,2011)

      OOB (Out Of Box) Map Clarifications

      Alberta/Saskatchewan/Manitoba and Central United States are adjacent to each other.
      Quebec and New Brunswick/Nova Scotia are adjacent to each other.
      Sea zone 106 and Eastern United States are not adjacent to each other.
      Greenland is an island.
      Scotland and Eire are adjacent to each other.
      The Caspian Sea is a sea zone.
      Korea and sea zone 5 are not adjacent to each other.  (Krieghund Jan 25,2011)

      Ask your Alpha+.2 question below.

    • RE: Upgrading a Minor IC?

      @Maddog77:

      What i cannot find in the rule book is how to upgrade it.

      Often one must string several areas of the Rulebook together, which can be hard to find.

      AAE40 Rulebook Page 24> Industrial Complexes>Unit Characteristics> Tells us the upgrade price= $20IPC (and limits, example- Territory value 3IPC or greater, have to own it at start of turn to use it, etc).

      AAE40 Rulebook Page 12>Phase 1:Purchase & Repair Units - This tells us when we can buy the upgraded Ind. Complex and where to put it for now (Moblz. Zone)

      AAE40 Rulebook Page 22> Phase 5: Mobilize New Units -Tells us that “place new facilities” is when we put the Major IC chit on the game board territory, as well as some limits to placement.

      Hope this helps.

      The current one will suck a lot of ink out of the printer and really curl the paper.

    • RE: UK merger income in G40

      @nutbar:

      UK has too little IPCs when you split their income. Do you think UK’s income should be able to merge and why?

      Larry has explained this on his forums (maybe about the time of AAE40 release?).

      It was unfair to the Germans that ALL the IPC from the UK world could be dumped on England, turn after turn.

      (You know, the old strategy of leave Japan side of the board completely alone while all the Allies gang up on Germany as fast as possible before Japan can get big. This equals the same old boring race.)

      @Woodstock:

      What Inmajor said. I expect to buy a game that’s finished.

      Maybe look at it this way, we were able to get the game 2 years before it was released.  Many addtional playtesters are tuning the game before it’s final release.

    • RE: Lessons Learned Global 1940

      Nice list of tips, well thought out.

      I really liked tip#

      -2, have a transport w/units threatens many areas, besides the one you are going for.

      -7 & 23, very important! One may reason that it will take “6 turns to move those units into the action”, which may be the unit that is needed in the endgame.

      -1,12,18,19, you have a good understanding of winning the game, instead of being worried about what is happening at the moment.

      Nice article Gargantua.

    • RE: AAG40 FAQ

      No, the tank may not. A “blitz” (AAE40 rulebook page 14, last section) can only be done during a combat move. Moving into friendly neutrals is done during a noncombat move (AAE40 rulebook page 21).

      Also see reply #482 of this thread, Gamerman01 shows friendly neutral info on page 10, and asks about blitzing.

      Somewhere (this thread maybe?), I think Krieghund had an in-depth explanation of the two-step process of a “blitz”.

      Just because you read without comprehension (try reading reply #165, above), does not mean that the program is not working as programed.

      When i load a transport, can i move one mech with one art\armor?

      No, you may not!

      AAE40 rulebook>page 30>Transports>Carry land Units>“Its capacity is and one land unit, plus one additional infantry. Thus a full transport may carry either a tank, mechanized infantry, or artillery plus an infantry, an antiaircraft gun and an infantry, or two infantry.”

      Examples
      -2inf
      -1inf,1mec
      -1inf,1art
      -1inf,1arm
      -1inf,1AA (must be loaded in noncombat, see Antiaircraft Guns section in rulebook)

      @Funcioneta:

      I’ll add a diplomatic chart to check war status

      I would like to suggest a “Neutral With” chart, instead of an “At War” chart.

      Control markers would be removed as the game progresses.  When all power are at war, then all the control markers are removed. With a quick glance, it is easier to see the short list of who is still neutral with whom, than looking at a longer list of who is at war with whom.

    • RE: Krieghund please help me with kamikase

      @MEGAEINSTEIN:

      At first i thought that the japanese player could interrupt other player combat or non combat move through the sea zones with the kamikase simbol to make the kamikase attack.

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      They are used during the combat move of an ally.

      To clarify, Japan declares Kamikaze attacks AFTER an Allied combat move, but BEFRORE the Allied conduct combat starts.

      This means that Kamikaze Attacks do not prevent Allied ships from moving during the Combat move phase.

      It helps to looks at an example.

      1. Let’s say the Japan Kamikaze Attacks are activated like calvinhobbesliker explained.
      2. The US makes his combat moves.
      3. Combat move is now over; no changes can be made.
      4. Now Japan declares their Kamikaze Attacks (how many, which seazones, & which enemy surface warship (not subs or transports). Note the Japan cannot roll 1 Kamikaze, and then see if it hits and then declares another.
      5. Japan rolls dice for Kamikaze Attacks.
      6. Remove casualties.
      7. Allied starts Conduct combat.

      Also note that Scrambling aircraft MOVEMENT is the same (attacker make combat moves, combat moves are done, over, finished, can’t be changed. Defender may scramble fighter & tacs. Attacker conducts combat with the Strategic bombings raids first, then the Amphibious assaults second (where the scrambled aircraft come in to defend the seazone)), with General Combat third.

    • RE: B.O.B.C.A.T. vs Beancounter Challenge (players needed)

      Very good points you brought up Gamerman01. My reasons for this thread was the Beancounter claim of “never buy this or that unit no matter what. It just cost too much.” Nice how you showed that some beginners may be doing a large % of luxury purchases, and this would throw. The data off.
