@crusaderiv if they could take them so easily, then why couldn’t the spanish take it back? a mid atlantic post for the kreigmarine would’ve been invaluable. also, the uboats didn’t need to operate there if Sea Lion had happened, which would have if spain had joined, due to the increased pressure on England. why would they be there? there’s no basis for this argument.

RE: What Would Happen If Spain Joined The Axis?
@Zooey72 Exactly! Spain would’ve put an already pressed England in an even greater position for Operation Sea Lion to happen. also, who would invade spain? who in the allies could’ve invaded spain in 1940? maybe US, but by the time they joined europe would’ve been taken completely by the axis, including probably england. there wouldn’t have been any way the americans could’ve done it, since the axis would have naval superiority, with the combinations of all their fleets. If Germany here had not declared war on the US, then that never would’ve been an issue. with the whole of europe taken, it’s just Russia, and together, the axis would crush them, even if it would take time

RE: What Would Happen If Spain Joined The Axis?
@Zooey72 true. malta would’ve fallen because that’s where the convoys were coming from, through the strait of gibraltar, and for that matter, the invasion of italy. also, it would’ve prevented the british from reinforcing egypt from the atlantic. this would’ve led to total control of the mediteranean, and increased ability to fight in north africa, due to the addition of spanish troops. also, spanish and italian troops could join the fight in russia. finally, the addition of spanish to the axis would’ve made other neutral countries less hesitant to join.

RE: G1 Taking all of France
@Drakenhart I haven’t played very many games yet, but in my experience, while you totally can take all France, if you simply attack the sea zone with the uk transport, then only taking paris will be just fine, and italy can take southern france. They need the IPC’s

Is J3 Smart?
Should I wait until Turn 3 to attack as Japan?
My thoughts are that as Japan, gaining bonuses while depriving other nations of their bonuses. Japan can then build up troops and transports to take everything that it wants, and being able to focus the majority of its army on China, including air support that would normally be reserved for other focuses. I want to make sure that China will never rise, by taking Yunnan (Burma Road) as well as preparing to attack Kwangtung with infantry from Malaya on turn 3. On turn 1 I will normally build a minor industrial complex in Kiangsu
My would be objectives on a J3:
-capture French Indo China,
-capture one of the money islands in addition to Borneo
-capture Kwangtung
-capture Philippines
-capture whatever else I can in China
-prepare for an invasion of Malaya
-prepare invasion of ANZAC, if you do not, they will be an annoyance in the future.
So, thoughts?
