    • RE: Larrymarx and allweneedislove's Global balance solution

      another idea is questioneers Qbeta setup

      Japan

      +10 for Japan when not at war with the US
      +10 when Japan owns 5 of the 6 island groups: Midway, Iwo Jima, Wake, Marinara Islands, Marshall Islands, Caroline Islands.

      US

      +20 when the US has control of CUS, EUS, EMex, CAmer, WInd after DOW
      +10 when the US has control of WUS, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico
      +10 when US owns 5 of the 6 island groups: Midway, Iwo Jima, Wake, Marinara Islands, Marshall Islands, Caroline Islands.

      Setup change

      add 3 more infantry to England.

      Political rule change

      USSR when at war with Japan alone may not invade/engage with neutrals on the Europe side of the board, nor may it land in Allied territories on the Europe side of the board.

      i personally like this one better, though currently he is testing both of them maybe if more people can play test either one or both then we can obtain reliable results for both and come to a conclusion as to which is better

      its OOB setup, but he will change it when alpha is finalised which is one reason why i really want to alpha changes to quickly move on

      @MaherC:

      I’ve tested the alpha enough to know it is trash, harsh but an accurate choice of words in my opinion.  Deal with it. :)

      We’ve decided to use the new NO’s with the OOB setup and see what happens.

      think of it this way suppose the probability of allies winning was 55-45 with OOB and 65-35 with alpha, with all the beta changes on OOB it would give axis too many advantages since they are so close already whilst the whole number of changes may be just enough to even the axis out with alpha

    • RE: Not seeing it

      its because its easier to have same setup but with added NOs since NOs arent necessarily the same anyway, whilst it would be confusing if there were 2 different setups. perhaps if you play tested it also you can see for yourself whether the changes are good or bad

    • RE: Not seeing it

      @MaherC:

      Is this beta setup using the OOB or alpha as it’s base?

      it uses alpha as base, generally any further changes currently are on alpha because everyone agrees that alpha has a better setup they are simply refining the alpha setup right now which hasnt been finalised. questioneer just gave it a name of beta because he has quite a few changes that are actually bunched up together but its mostly NO changes and not many setup changes

    • RE: Not seeing it

      everyone: the alpha setup changes is progressing quite fast and will progress even faster if more people play test and make their comments on setup/NO/political changes rather than complaining. heres a quick summary: generally everyone agrees that japan should have +10 NO for not at war, and most people agree about a two way island bonus and splitting the US NO into different parts however it is still being refined. personally i think that questioneers beta changes look the most promising so far, and he is already play testing it. perhaps if more people play tested a single setup (that setup) then we can obtain a reliable result for the one setup and then changes could be made if still needed. (i would if it was practical for me but its not)

    • RE: Global 1940 favourite country (poll)

      this is so much cooler than risk where everyone starts off with the same number of territories and units and strategy depends on where your territories are. here all the countries are different, different strategies are employed, different types of battles, the starting setup is the same all the time so as long as the game is balanced then one player wont get the instant advantage. risk used to be my favourite game for like years and years but now well, lets just say im a bit bored with risk and it kind of looks more like a tutorial game to me. the sad thing is that all my friends and stuff love risk yet have never heard of axis and allies

      the global national production chart requires an A3 page, how about the rest? can they fit on an A4 page? how many setup and global diplomacy charts can fit on an A3?

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      @axisisthebest:

      is it maybe possible for you to post an unofficial version of the current alpha setup charts? that way the people who do want to wait for the setup to be finalised can still wait patiently but the impatient people can just get a quick alpha copy because who knows when the setup will be finalised. i mean its a win-win situation, and if the impatient people find that the balance isnt good because they didnt wait for it to be finalised then its their own fault and they are the ones who suffer, the rest wouldnt have anything to lose by you releasing an unofficial version of the alpha setup charts, and the people who had the unofficial charts if it suits them then they can just let it be but if it doesnt they can still wait for the official version. at least that way they can have a version of alpha even if not final but still resembling the final version to play with instead of the original mistake filled setup and not have to constantly check the progress of the finalisation on the internet

      There are unofficial ones which I linked to above, but they have been plagarized from Bob’s work.

      yeah but i dont want to use plagarised stuff and the font is bad. plus its only for global

    • RE: Bob_A_Mickelson's AAG40 National Production/Objectives and Setup Charts

      i dont want to sound demanding but have you ever considered having a 5 or 10 ipc bonus NO for japan for not entering the war? the reasons are immense and i have seen that suggestion in many places. i can understand if you dont want to because its not official and stuff but once again its ok to release unofficial ones if you think the reasons are good. if you have other reasons not to do it such as time i can understand too
