You know, I didn’t think about that.  My opposite hasn’t fielded a plane yet (He is not a big fan of air power). So the situation hasn’t come up. This brings up a good point.  When planes attack armor they get rear attack?!  If so,  I was a real rock head with my Stuka.  Live and learn

      Leiter:

I’m assuming the set up would be something like

Infantry    SS Haup , 4 PG , Snipe  grouped x2

do you usually group 2 tanks or more?  IE Vet tiger SSPanther  &  SS panther with Brum  My inclination is to keep the Brum, vet and Panther together.  letting one panther Hunt.  I’m also thinking the vet Tiger could be the inticement for my opponent He would go after it for sure.

      Yes:

I haven’t done my homework yet on them but I do know at 35 it makes a very nice addition to the armor (strong and affordable)I suspect that everything should remain the same on abilities except losing SS deter.  I still think the SS Panther is worth it’s weight in gold.  I like the SS PZ 4 as well.

      Thanks Leiter

I appreciate your time.  I usually play historic builds but am letting opponent use russian along side Brit and US forces.  I suspect KV1 (or IS2) I can’t remember, will make an appearance.  I like 2 Panther build.  I was going to use a 250 to transport a ss Haup and also to serve as protection and mobility (I’m sure opponent will be using mortars.)  but at 8 It’s tough to justify the cost.  When have you used transport?  The costs are difficult especially the 251.

Which do you prefer.  If any.  What have you done in the past that has brought success.  Assume 200 to 350 points

    • Why no MG42's ?

I have been on the boards for a while and have noticed a curious thing.  Very few speak of the MG 42 in thier builds.  I see time after time advice being given and no mention of the unit.  On the other hand I hear people griping because the US does not have a MG unit.  So I’m assuming the MG 42 must be useful otherwise why complain that the US does’nt have one?  Cost?  Ability?  Both seem reasonable to me.

      Let me know your thoughts.

    • RE: Building stadards for higher point games

      Thanks Leiter:

That makes sense to me.  If it was any more units would it be an advantage to the Allies?  Or am I imagining things.

    • Building stadards for higher point games

I’m thinking of doing a 300-400 point game.  I have seen some folks with 300 point games at 20 units a piece.  I would like to know if that is the norm.  My opponent thinks it should me 15 every 100.  Which does not seem right but I have no argument since a standard 100 point game is 15.  I know this will be a challange for axis player .  I was leaning toward 20 to 22.  Any thoughts would be welome.

      I had suggested 300 points 20 - 22 units 1944 1 hero limit 25-30 point reinforcements (Unreasonable ?)  What would be fair?

    • Reinforcements during game play

Hey folks just wondering if anyone else has thought of this.

I have been thinking of introducing Reinforcements during game play.  Heres what I’m thinking.

Maybe have the window for reinforcements be turns 3-4-5  on a roll of 6 you can bring them in at turn 3  if you don’t get the roll  try nxt turn  roll 4-5-6  and it’s auto at turn 5.  I’m thinking 25 - 35 points.  I think the points are not enough to tip the balance in a slaughter but may have a good effect on some close ones.  Still mulling this over.  I remember playing some old Avlon Hill war games early 80’s (before cards and pieces) and am pretty sure they had reinforcements in there.

    • RE: Best/Worst Pulls?

I’ve had some bad one’s  I bought 3 boosters (1 contested and 2 set II)  I got a chaffee, a Jagdpanzer IV and 7TPdw.  This was pretty bad considering I am particularly interested in German units.  In addition I have had some bad luck with getting some commons.  I think I’ve purchased 3 base sets and never once got a SSpanzer gren !!  (Thank again agent for the reinforcements!!! I think getting them from you was the only way I was going to see what they looked like)  On a good note I purchase 2 D-days got a vet Tiger and a P-38.  So it’s his or miss with me.

    • RE: Suggestions for 100 point army

I’ve used the ober.  He is pretty good +2 on Inish.  and has 11 close assult the 13 cost is pricey .  but you get a AT unit + command abilities not to metion the Agriff so he could come in handy.  If your just starting out and playing 100pts this may not be the ideal choice 2 SS PZ Gren (10pts) are better with a Haupman furher (7pts)  13 pts 1 unit compared to 17 pts 3 units

    • RE: War stories

I expect that Elephants would soon be making an appearance (Hopefully)  I just picked up some tank killers and had some success with my Hetzer.  I now have a JagdPanther and a JagdTiger just waiting for the right time to introduce them…  Lost another one last Sunday.  But this one was very close went 10 rounds and lost on points.  My vet Tiger was impressive taking out 3 out of the 4 tank fielded with some help of some SS pG (God I love those pieces) But that Friggen Flaming churchill rolled 3 6’s and that was that.  It’s amazing how much punishment my vet took before going down.  All in all excellent game.

    • RE: Panther D Stats

I agree I never would would replace any reg unit for an SS.  That’s almost like replacing reg panzer grens for SS’s  (on a smaller scale)  But I like that for 9 more point’s you can do a serious upgrade on a PZ IV G.  But I fielded a SS Panther and it didn’t disappoint.  Had I been a little more aware of the rules (My fault) it could have eliminated pretty much all the armor fielded.  By the way my Hetzer did quite well and played correctly can really be a life saver.
