    • RE: The 88 sucks…

Really it can’t move once dropped.  That doesn’t make sense to me.  88’s should be able to move with a 250.  That’s how they did it on the field.

I think that the 88 has to be the most powerful piece on the field for 39 maybe even 40 & 41 (armor punch).  The way I’m playing it is like any other towed artillary.

Leiter:  I tried checking out Kurst pics and can’t see them.  Are they still available?

    • RE: Is the crock allowed?

I agree with DL.  I went up against 3 of them along w/ a KV1 and a sherman in a 300 point game.  It was Tiger heaven so it was bad for them from the start.  I had a KT VT and a SS panther.  I took them out at Ranges of 5. 2 were disrupted by my snipes.  It was not pretty.  At close quarters they work fine I lost a VT to one. But he took out 3 tanks before going down.  Don’t my into any myths.  Play the pieces yourself and see what works.  DL and Mech have been helpful with the advise.  But above all have some fun with it.  I only play Axis so I can tell from the receiving end.

    • RE: If you had to

We had a discussion about this piece a few months back and 45 pts is a killer.  If I had to. 15 unit limit 1944 year

      Nashhorn            45
      FW 190              14
      1 ss haupfuher    7
      5 ss Pg              25
      pz faust              5
      mine field            2

or 7 pts for a Flak 38 instead of pz faust and minefield

This is just off the top of my head

    • RE: German tank killers useful?

I hear you on that rooster.  P51?  My opponent (stars and stripes tried that and scared the %&!@ out of me (the resouceful Hero was nearby too).  Hetzers are a nice piece as well for 20 pts you really can’t go wrong (They aren’t flashy but they have some decent dice and people tend to underestimate them (armor).  I like the Nash’s SA but haven’t had the guts to spent 45pts on one to see how it works. If I had done it my last game I would have lost it since Stars and Stripes fielded a P 51.

    • RE: Did anyone use set 5 yet ?

Thanks for the input folks.  Looks like most of the stuff is worthy of obtaining and trying out.  I especially like the 262 (is that 1944 by any chance?)  Some of the stuff that they but years on I have to question it seems to be his or miss.  The FW190 is accurate as far as year but I know some were available sooner than what is indicated (I’m at a loss to give examples and I really don’t want to gripe anyway so I won’t. The game is too fun!!)

P.S. I’m seeming stuff on e-bay already for reserves

    • Did anyone use set 5 yet ?

Just wondering if anyone used any of the pieces yet, or do I have to wait till Sunday night to hear about it.  I’m particularly interested in any of the Axis pieces (go figure).

      Take care

    • RE: Why no MG42's ?

Last night convinced me of the worth of the Sniper.  I’m still itching to get the gun teams into action perhaps a larger game if I have points left.  DL kudos to you the snipe is hust too nice of an asset.

    • RE: War stories

Chalk up one for the Fatherland.  Had that 300 pt game.  It opened with an unpleasant surprise of not 1, not 2 but 3 crocks and a KV1 with a reg Sherman in support.  Lots of Screaming Eagles and a Royal Engineer hero and a P 51.  I fielded KT, VT, 1 SS Panther,  and a Brumbar 7 SS pg’s 2 snipes 2 ss haups, hero FW 190.  The game started out with a 6 for a map roll (Tiger heaven) and the race was on.  The allies came in hard and started pushing the axis back.  they broke into 2 armor sections .  2 crocks on the left and the KV/Crock and Sherman on the right.

I used the headshot ability early on and disrupted the KV on the right and a Crock on the left.  I went in on the KV with the King and Vet with the Panther in support but ended up taking out the crock instead. The paras dropped in to visit and put a  nice ring around by force.  The FW190 came in to take out the sniper and ended up having a dog fight with the Mustang (both planes ended up flaming each other)  I can never get a plane to work for me!!!  The god of dice treated me well and slammed the armor force.

The Brumbar worked extremly well as well as the snipers (Besides hitting the head shots one took out the Engineer)

Thanks DL for the ideas !!!

    • Axis assult groups what do you use ?/ DP NL

**Hello my defenders of the Fatherland.  I’m looking for your thoughts again.  I like assult groups, I’m wondering what you have used in the past as a combined force or (assult group)  ie: 4 sspg 1 sshaup 1 pz faust 1 exp snipe.  It can be armor or infantry.

      list out Parameters:

      Year
      Unit limit
Why was it successful? (what did you use it against?)**

    • RE: Firing platform

Hi LLoyd,  Not sure if this helps.

The way I read it is no.  If your a purest towards the rules then that speaks for it’s self.  Realistically the unit is firing from a covered position (ie armored vehicle) thus the armored vehicle would receive the damage before the infantry.  But the flip side to that would be since the infantry is inside the unit it is fairly risky to be around enemy armor since if destroyed you lose 2 units.  Just my view of things, hope it helps.

    • RE: KV1 abilities and how to kill it

OK,  That’s fine it’s a 300 pt game so I’ll have what I need. Thanks for the advice on the build.  I will try a slight variation of it and let you know how I fare.

    • RE: German tank killers useful?

I’m a fan of the Hetzer myself.  Heck you could put 3 of them on the field for what it cost for a JagdTiger.  I’ve been itching to use my Nash.  But I think I’ll wait 45 is Waaay  too high a cost and the with Paras lurking around I’m not willing.  But that generally is the story with some of these interesting, but costly pieces. Real cool, would love to use but if I commit to a certain piece I better be almost 100% sure of what my opponents throwing at me (and unless you can read oracle bones or something that is unlikely), I can think of much better ways of spending 45 pts.

    • German tank killers useful?

I rarely hear about the Tank killers.  It’s alway Tiger this and Tiger that.  Has anyone ever used any of the heavies?  JagdTiger or Jagd Panther? I’ve had some success with the Hetzer.  Haven’t used the big boys and what about the 88 anyone?

Super glue the halves together.  As far as the small ball thing try building up the ball with epoxy glue or cut the ball off and reattach something that will fit.  or create a new base with a whole for just the stick .

Thank you.  This helps a lot.  The werewolves you mentioned.  Do you think they will be a power house unit?  Highly equipped and Fanatical or will it be like a reg partisian unit?
