    • RE: Bad-a$$ Combos

I alway like the WerExpert snipe paired with some SS panthers.  Disrupts any tanks and bum rush him from behind.

I’m also thinking of ammo dump with a vet Tiger.  might be nice  a roll of a 2 is the only bad thing till the dump gets killed.

Also I had bren gunners used against me.  that surpressive fire ability along with some other 5/5 troops really could work.  I’m actually putting together an Allied Army!!!

    • Chatting on the Radio

Question:    I know spotters cannot move when calling in fire (Chatting on the radio) but what if they are on a transport? cna they call it in then while moving.

Also.  Has anyone had any success with using an MG42 on a 251 (3 attacks)  would be nice in theory.

I’m trying to figure out blitz tatics and fast moving hit a run stuff.

Hi folks looking for inpurt again.  I have several SS PZ IV’s and am trying to get my mind around how I would use that ability.  Any thoughts?

    • Build limits

      Hi Folks :

I know I asked this question a couple of months ago, but I can’t remember what thread it was on.  What is the general standard for UNIT BUILD LIMITS.  100 points @ 15 units is the base, but I remember there being an increase at higher points.  I’m thinking about 350 to 400 points
on either a reg map (random) or 6 sections.  Does anyone have input?

    • RE: Newbie needs suggestions on German/American armies

Depends on what year you want to build 1939 - 1945  Germany has some good years after 1942 (especially armor) The infantry to get would be SS Panzer Gren for Germany.  If you go 100 points it’s a tough call on the heavy hitters perhaps the Panther D from the reserves would be ok.  US has the Sherman of course,  so thats a good start.  Rangers a screaming Eagle have given me trouble in the past.

      I agree:

I thought I just might try it out.  But yes, on the small maps it was not that effective.  1942 I’m thinking bigger map 6 sheets and 350 build with max of 25 - 27 units.  I started doing some prelim builds and it looks much better (can field a nice mix of solid armor with infantry).

P.S. As always thanks for the replies.

Hey Leiter you I came very close to fielding 5 Flamingoes (I might have done better!!!)

    • Was slapped silly

Lost one on Sat.  1941.  20 Units 150 pts.

      I had available

      1 Elite Pz 4
      2 stug
      1 88
      250
      FW190
      7 SSpg
      1 Snipe
      1 Para
      1 SS Haup

      Against

      2 Bren
      6-8 Gurka’s (Can’t remember)
What ever that British Commander is
      Bofur
      Humbar
      5 Stewarts

I started out ok  taking out the bofur.  Then the stewarts came it and took out my PZIV and a stug. I set up the 88 and really had some bad results.  Infantry held up well and actually took out more tanks then my tanks!  For now I think the 88 and planes might not be in future builds. 33 pts could have been better spent.  Rational behind the 88 was fairly sound.  Deal with the Brit tanks.  Hand a good location but it just doesn’t hold up.  Next game is 1942.

    • RE: 1941 Builds

      Revision

Looks like it’s western front so the Russkies are out and the limey’s are in.  Any suggestions for that?  Not too familiar with all the Brits.  All I know is I don’t have to deal with the T34.  Year is still 1941 150 pts and 20 units.

      Let me know thanks.

PS picked up 3 reserves and got som nice pulls.

Thanks,  I suspected as much.  Does FOW have this type of trouble.  Whats the deal, all the subjects are documents out the wazoo in history books, this could have been easily avoided.

      1 250

      1 FW190

      some ss PG’s

      SSHF

      Snipes

    • Years again

I just picked up a reserves Panther and was surprised to see the year as 1943.

What’s up with the years.  Leiter I’ll look to you again on this one.  Is this an exception?  SS Panther G 1942.  Regular Panther D 1943 !

I’m not an expert on the Panther but I do know that the D came before the G.  Any thoughts on this one?

The only thing I can think of is that the SS did get the best equipmest earlier than the Regular army but man that is a stretch (especially with the D  and G models)

    • RE: The 88 sucks…

I was just thinking abou the 88 again. The 88’s wheels actually came off and it was set up in a cross  bolted into the ground.  So this is making more and more sense.  I think it should be maybe 2 turns to load.

    • RE: What armor setups in 100pt game r viable 4 germany?

Understood on 100 point armor builds but the year makes a huge difference.  Is this just in general, or are you building for a specific scenario?

Your initial question is a 100point armor build viable for the germans?  Just an opinion but, Yes. On earlier scenarios as you go up it will get harder and you will have to be more creative lets say 1943 and up (the allies just have good cheap stuff).  The 35 pt Panther(1942 I think) a brummbar(1943) and a Hetzer(1944) are all good.  The Brummbar is priceless against infantry and is fairly cheap 22.

I’m with Leiter.  Hetzers at 20 are decent. I haven’t used the 35 pt Panther but expect it would be very good.  Also what year are we talking about?
