RE: What is your favorite Axis country to play?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
@Malus:
Im 1337 with stats
euh,
could you help me with this one?
what does it mean exactly?
(I could make a poll to see what everyone thinks it is :-P) -
RE: Would you have tried it?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
actually, it’s a chance of 50% to get mutual destruction…
don’t know what chances are of actually capturing it :-P
(still have to have one unit surviving to capture it…)
but still, luck can be in your favor  -
RE: Would you have tried it?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Nix,
I would have, too!!!
but like Malus said: I would have taken the bomber to the sea battle…
UK had: 1 arm and 1 bomber? you would have invaded with 2 inf, 2 arms and a bomber that was subject to AA first, too…
that would have been overkill :-PIt’s better to overkill the first battle, so you can even start with the second (even if chances are not looking to good, luck can still be determinative), then being blown off in your first battle, so your second doesn’t even gets a shot…
I would dare to say even more!
when I had to take one trannie as casualty? I would have done that, too.
you HAD to win the sea battle BEFORE you can make an amphib.
let’s say you win the first battle, clearing the sea zone and only 1 transport survives?
then you still have the opportunity on a 50% chance to capture UK :-P -

LOL, I noticed the typo when I read the thread, but it didn’t bother me and I even copied this carelessly in my previous thread…
well, not that it is still there, now :-)
I modified my previous post in this thread… -
RE: How long do your Games Last?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
@Axel:
I learned a lot of newbies play this game, and all of these games had approximately the same duration: 3 to 4 hours
When I re-read the sentence I posted, I noticed I translated it badly…
(sorry, my mother tongue isn’t English)
I didn’t want to modify that post, while I got some reactions on it.The corrected translation is:
I tutored a lot of newbies play this game, and all of these games had approximately the same duration: 3 to 4 hours -
RE: How long do your Games Last?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
So your calling me a newb? Our group has played at least 20 games of axis and allies. Maybe some people actually play faster than others. Just a thought.
Nope, I’m not calling you a newb
What I was trying to say:
I think people at first have to think a lot about strategy…
But, when a pro plays a newbie… the newbie still has to build up his own strategy, while the pro has not…
When they get along with strategy, they are playing better with less energy (and you’re in this stadium, yamamato :-P)so:
newbie versus newbie: hard to say how long it will take - it depends on how quick one builds up a strategy that works…
newbie versus pro: The newbie thinks about a strategy - while the pro can do his thing :-) so, maybe 3 or 4 hours… (like in the games I’m playing a newbie - and I was referring to THESE games, yamamato)
pro versus pro: both of them are oiled machines and can easily adjust strategies and calculations and make their moves…and, YES yamamato, especially this latter depends on how quick someone wants/can play :-)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my polls 8-)
I just LOVE statistics

RE: If newbies are playing their first game…posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
I hope some day, I could use it against one of you guys :-P
I mean I hope I can get to play a game on line someday and demonstrate the victory or defeat of my strategy…
while still, I’m not sure if it’s going to work against professionals… -
What is your favorite Allied country to play?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
I had a poll with the question:
What is your favorite country to play?
This poll focuses on the Allies alone!
(while the Axis got almost every vote in the first poll)I gave everyone the opportunity to give 2 votes as well!!!
in this case you can give your 2nd favorite allied country a vote as well if you want to… -

RE: How old are you?posted in General Discussion
I noticed in the poll where there is an over 60 amongst us.
Sometimes people want to disrupt polls this way…
So, I’m afraid you’re still the oldest around here :-o -
RE: What is your favorite country to play?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
If Africa is saved in the first round than the us must save Russia and dump tanks in Asia.
easier said then done…

if you want to see a crazy fleet battle that happened in one of my games?
-
RE: How long do your Games Last?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
One full turn (so R, G, UK, J, USA all played once) is usually about one hour of gameplay…
what I noticed so far?
When a newbie is introduced in gameplay, it’s about 3 or 4 hours to ending the game.
I learned a lot of newbies play this game, and all of these games had approximately the same duration: 3 to 4 hours -
RE: Playing onlineposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
axel allie, downloading battlemap will enable you to access the gameboard setup via comp
It would, I know, but this advantage I take has to stop somewhere :-P

RE: Dire Axis Situation….To the Last man.posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Maybe try to let him take Caucasus :-P
withdraw almost all of your units from G in Caucasus to Moscow…
let him take Caucasus, and counter it with J instead!!!
then J has more IPC’s and can get more units to the front than G ever will.
G loses 4 IPC’s but gets 4 Japanese armor to help instead :-)Why not withdraw all units, you say?
If you do that, he’ll see what your up to…
if you play a little poker, and make a calculation that will lose statistically…
he’ll see an opening because he thought you made a mistake!
leaving it wide open will make him suspicious. -
RE: Number of victory cities?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Every situation is different…
So, every fall of a capital is different, too!
I only wanted to say that the game isn’t necessarily over when a capital is taken!
Players just have to make up for theirselfs if they still have a chance of winning tha game…
You can lose a battle, but you can still win the war.
and I think this depends on the massivity of the army capturing a capital… -
RE: Japan's Inf.posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
@ncscswitch:
The remaining fleet off Kwang is a nuisance to Japan, and requires that they do something about it… and with 2 rolls of 3’s, it has to be a fairly substantial something (at least 1 BB plus some air power or other navy).
There is no difference between a UK fleet near India or a UK fleet near Kwang when I play J…
their defending roll is still the same and both will perish someday…
Only nuissance they give?
you have to pay attention that no trannie goes unguarded…
but you always have to keep the latter in mind :-P
(with or without a UK fleet nearby)
