    • RE: Revised vs 2nd ed

      @Octopus:

      @ncscswitch:

      Against two perfectly balanced opponents…

The Allies whould win 60%-65% of the games (on average) without a bid.

      interesting…

If you REALLY, REALLY want to know?
then you should set up the game and play yourself a game of Axis and Allies Revised with NO LUCK!
I think some people here can play for 2 perfectly balanced opponents on their own…
so, if you want to know?
play a game of NO luck
      :-P

by the way: I’m NOT interested to play “no” or “low” luck, I’m just saying you should see the IPC-bid is needed or not.  8-)

      Still, I can’t keep up :-P

I don’t have that much time at work ;-)

    • RE: Revised vs 2nd ed

I think the imbalance of the current bids for both games are speaking for itself, too!

      A&A had a standard bid of 24 IPC’s for the Axis, I presume…
      24 IPC’s?!? that’s 8 infantries… damn, that’s a lot!!!
A&AR has a bid of 6 IPC’s and not every player even bids 6!

talk about the way the new game is balanced :-)

      WOW,

I didn’t know you guys were interested that much in European history!
      or is it only WWII?
nevertheless: I’m from Europe myself, and I never knew all this info!!!
      :-o :-o :-o :-o

    • Did you play A&A before you played A&A Revised?

I played Pacific once, and then bought Axis and Allies Revised!
so, I’ve never played A&A (previous edition)

maybe a second thread for giving feedback to the game of nix and ncscswitch will do just fine?

to Borneo or not to Borneo was the question…

      @Axel:

      this is:

      • UK pays for the IC
      • FIC falls smoothly? IC placed in India
      • FIC is still standing? I dunno. IC in South-Africa then?

I only suggested building one when FIC falls SMOOTHLY!!!  :|
and again: only for persons who REALLY want to build an IC in India
if things go bad? build it somewhere else, for all I care…

    • RE: Newbie Questions

      some extra info:

the total is indeed 4 spaces for a fighter!
you can decide whether you go:
0 spaces in combat and 4 in non-combat
1 space in combat and 3 in non-combat
2 spaces in combat and 2 in non-combat
3 spaces in combat and 1 in non-combat

moving 4 spaces in combat is ONLY possible when attacking a sea-zone and when you can land on an aircraftcarrier (AC).
this AC has to be a survivor of the sea-battle OR
the AC has been moved there in non-combat phase (you move the AC to the occupied sea-zone, but didn’t attack with it)

moving 4 spaces in combat to attack a land territory is not possible, since you can not land it in a freshly conquered territory and it can not get back properly (remember?)

    • RE: GB round 1 attack of Borneo?

I was not saying an IC in India IS A GOOD MOVE!

I was wondering if it was a better way of pursuing the goal of an IC in India?
(some people just can’t play a game without an IC in India!)
(I’m not one of those people)

    • RE: What would you change?

A while ago, I saw this great house rule about subs:

When figs and/or bombers attack subs?
the subs can roll a die for submerging before being attacked!
on a 1 or a 2 (their defense score by the way :-P) they submerge before figs and/or bombers roll for attacking…
they can still submerge after being attacked for one round and after failing their first (and extra) possibility to submerge.

    • RE: GB round 1 attack of Borneo?

I don’t think attacking Borneo is a good move for UK to do in UK1…
it leaves India for the taking AND it lets G hold Egypt…
(mostly one of those should be worth the effort)

I wonder though, if attacking FIC would be a good move when UK plans to build an IC in India on UK1?

      this is:

      • UK pays for the IC
      • FIC falls smoothly? IC placed in India
      • FIC is still standing? I dunno. IC in South-Africa then?

would this be a better way of pursuing the goal of an IC in India?

    • RE: Germany Strategy concept…

      hmmm,

I think all those nice and shiny AF can come in very handy for battling the Russians at the Eastern gates as well.
Axis actually joining forces for once in a game?

      on the other hand…
G isn’t in the wealthiest position to strike first (with AF, so sacrificing AF…) and let J take the territory…

well, maybe to give some extra defense for J on a territory already captured…
      who knows…

      and freshly conquered territory?

not much to consolidate and defend it with probably?
(since AF can not stay in that place)

      Still,

you seem to picture it as a piece of cake…
I’m not so sure about it all!

Let’s just say Germany is not able to pull Russia and UK off, due to lack of a good strategy from the G player!

      my question remains:
Starting from which proportions do you strafe a fleet?

Do you strafe one when you have less pips on attack then he has on defense?
when do the proportion of pips def/att trigger your sence for strafing?

      @balungaloaf:

a prideful, arrogant, stubborn, drunk, and intense irish 22

you just needed to say you’re Irish…
the words in front of it are only equivalent

      @Axel:

      Strafing USA good?
This gets tricky when he has a superior fleet AND some BB’s to take first hits!
and I think USA can easily accomplish such a fleet!
he is on defense then and gets better rolls!

so if his fleet is inferior when attacking you, but superior when defending?
(and of course, he goes island hopping)
how will you be able to strafe then?

      well, ncscswitch?
How can you strafe a USA fleet that is inferior when attacking (so, USA will not attack you but will go island hopping), but SUPERIOR when defending?
and certainly: what if he has 2 or 3 BB’s?
I believe a strafe is not as easy as it seems then!!!

      I’m with ncscswitch,

I think the Baltic needs reinforcements…
one AC will do just fine.

I can understand why Octo has success with no Baltic buy, but for me it just doesn’t feel right :-P
