      As noted, on Germany’s turn if you attack Western Europe, please kill all American infantry before removing any British troops. If you get hits beyond that, please ask me for the losses as I intend to try to keep as many British troops alive as I can.

      Also let me put this in here now before I forget, even though it won’t be relevant until Germany’s next turn:

      On America’s turn, I will possibly land the fighter currently in Algeria in Western Europe. If I do (and of course that depends on what Japan does now, so this might not be relevant), then if Germany attacks Western Europe, I will want my OOL to be to lose the American infantry first. But before losing ANY UK troops, including the infantry, I may or may not want you to kill the American fighter there instead; that will depend on how many troops you committed to the attack, so please ask as you conduct the battle.

      If you don’t mind I’d like to amend that non-combat movement of the fighter that landed in FEQ to land in Great Britain instead please. Assuming I haven’t overlooked another sneaky Japanese transport somewhere waiting to strike, I think FEQ is safe enough without the fighter.

      @AcesWild5049 I again missed your response but it shouldn’t matter this time because I didn’t attack Germany this time even without the extra tank. I figure time is on my side anyway so the lower chance even for the two infantry wasn’t worth it.

      Yeah, that makes it much trickier; according to the TripeA battle calculator I had a 80% chance to win the battle initially, but with the 2 inf move adjustment I only have a 62% chance. Let me rethink my move then…

      DAAK, the place I played in the mid-2000s, does have some public statistics you can see that clearly prove the point:

      Unfortunately it does not record the average bid amounts, but I can attest that the vast majority of these games did in fact have a bid for Axis, as every game I played in had one, usually over 20 IPCs worth: typically in the range of 21-24.

      Even with that, there was only a 47% total win rate for Axis over 6000+ games. This is much more cogent data than any single player can collect.

      I like the game with the bid but if you are determined to prevent players from changing the starting setup, then I agree, you just need to move to one of the newer versions of Axis and Allies that are theoretically more balanced. I have yet to pick up and learn any of the newer ones but I am interested in doing so at some point. If you’re interested in playing a learning game of G40 (which seems to be the most popular current iteration) with me after our current Classic matches are over I’d definitely be up for that.
